Great video! I have a Heritage and love it! Mine lays flat and I do like the pen loop on the fly leaf. (I use a thin metal Frixion pen). The only issue I had were the holes on the leather fly leaf were not large enough for it to move easily. I just stretched them out a bit and it works great. This has 25mm rings-so a tiny bit larger than a regular Filofax but doesn't seem to hold as much.
I have the heritage in A5 compact and I love it. It lies flat but the name card in the front moves around and moves out of its slot. I don't use the pen holder.
I think this one works for me because it has no clasp. I hate those claspy things. This is a small leather folder ideal for address book and calendar use. I find I can clip a pen over the real binder cover and have the pen body inside the binder itself. As to black or brown ... I chose black. I've since come across a couple of the brown ones. The buffalo leather brown ones are lovely. Really nice leather.
Nice review. The fact that it doesn't lay flat is a bit annoying. They should've attached the rings to the back side instead of the spine. I think that would make it much more comfortable, specially since the leather is quite soft (or at least it looks like it is).

The pen-loop flyleaf is sadly terrible - not just the loop, but the holes are so tiny they have to be tugged to move it at all, so I took it straight out and am using a Papelote bookend A5 which both serves as closure and holds as many pens as I need. Overall, I'm really loving it so far - I feel like it was made for my needs and wishes :)
A very good review Rebecca. I don't think the design team as thought this one through enough. The pen in the flyleaf looks dreadful and it's way over priced! Best thing you could do for this would be, to rip those rings out and had a couple of elastics, make it into a Travellers Notebook. That would look exquisite!
this is disappointing cause like you, I liked the idea of the simplicity of this planner. But things just don't seem to work well together. thanks for the review 😊
the planner is completely over stuffed which makes a fair review impossible since I am sure it wasn't made to be used that way

How much paper can you fit in side? And how large are the rings I am considering this but not sure
the cover folds down at the end of your video as compared to how it was angled at 90 degrees. do you think as the leather ages it will fold down?

Would like to know if this is the compact version ? I brought the black one too but couldn’t tell, I’m thinking of getting the dark brown one
Can I use this for a budget cash envelope system. Want to use 10 clear pockets for budgeting.
I feel like filofax treats the pen loop as an after thought. None of my filofaxes has a well placed pen loop. Tfs!
