I watched 4 other reviews and noticed that the tailgate kept trying to fold up on everyone when they first started. I now know that was because they did not read the instructions. Great video!
+Russell Tom Thanks Russell! I haven't seen other videos, but they might not have had the bumper strap installed to keep the tailgate from lifting. It is a great product in my opinion. Take care, G.
+DoingItCheap LOL, no kidding right? This thing is awesome and it pays for itself the first time it's used. Mine stays on the truck and is holding up well even with it being in the elements all the time. When it finally dies, I will gladly march right into HF with a smile and by another one! G.
I need to get 4 yards of soil into my back yard and have been dreading doing it. I stumbled on this video last night and bought one of these things this morning 😂 I’m actually pumped to go grab the dirt tomorrow and test this bad boy out! Thanks for the review!
Thanks much, I just bought one of these and really enjoyed your set-up video! I'm completing landscaping in my backyard on a newly constructed house. I'll be moving in compost mix, mulch, etc and will be able to dump stuff where I need it instead of loading and shoveling into a wheel barrow.
That's cool! Let me know how it works out for you. I actually used mine again over the last few days and it still works like day one. It's lived it's entire life on my truck and is holding up quite well. Good luck, G.
Dude thank you so much. I use my truck bed for landscaping rock, mulch, dirt, etc. And this is WAY easier than using a hose and dragging it into my wheelbarrows. I can honestly say you're great for this video
Great video, thanks for sharing it. I like the installation and demonstration for this, I just bought one to move some dirt to fill in a lot of holes and ruts on the property. Thanks.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. Mine is holding up quite well. I actually used it today to unload a bunch tree limbs. It rolled them right out until they tipped to the ground, and then I drove out so they would drop. It took longer to unstrap the load than it did to unload. Good luck with yours. Let me know what you think after using it. G.
Larry, I can't imagine being without one. If you have a spray in liner, you might put a tarp down first- then roll out the mat. And make sure you clean out behind the wells before removal. Good luck, G.
I have a 04 Silverado and love this. I've done shingles, firewood, mulch and concrete. the truck is to not lock the load on the cab side. I used wood 6x6 and never had a problem since. People have laughed saying it won't work but never let me doesn't.
I have a 87 Toyota truck. Tarp was too wide for the tailgate so I had to take the tarp off and fold it over about 3 inches to work. but it does work. I choose to fold it and staple the edges instead of cutting it in case I ever have a full size truck.
For sure Troy! Mine's still in great shape after all these years living on the back of my truck. Used it countless times and I'll never be without one. Good luck, G.
A friend of mine has this unloader in his Ford F150. We were moving a dump truck load of mulch at the church. This was certainly a back saver not having to jump back into the bed and shovel every thing twice.. We could just back the truck up to the mulch area and easily unload the bed. A bit of spreading and leveling and we were off to the next area. He doesn't have a liner in his bed so he put a piece of old Formica laminate in the bed to make the material slide easier and protect the bed. Works great!
It does Mac. There were three loads like this one. Believe it or not, it was all from my back stoop. The entire thing was filled with old broken up concrete, rocks, and whatever else they could fit in there. I haven't closed on the other property yet, so the wall has yet to be taken out. Take care, G.
Great review, as usual. I saw the TV version of these years ago and thought they were a joke. I've since heard so many people rave about them that I have had to eat some crow. The proof is in the pudding. That load came off like hot butter. And having manually loaded and unloaded literally TONS and TONS of broken concrete, rocks, firewood, and general demo material over the years, I can appreciate how much time and energy this single load saved. I think you summed up this and most other HF products when you said it already paid for itself in one use. Haha! That's spot on. If you know way around around shop tools and use some common sense though, you can usually identify the shortcomings and avoid the otherwise catastrophic failures that would certainly come sooner than later with some, usually minor, modifications. Thanks again.
Thanks man! I hope you like the taste of crow because they work great...lol. It did come off like hot butter for sure. I was taken back with how little effort it took, and how little time as well. I agree, the time and energy saved on this one load was unbelievable. If only it could be loaded as easily! Yep, it paid for itself right there- and many times over now. Agreed on knowing tools and their limitations. I think that's where HF gets a bad wrap here and there. Folks expect to pay little, then push the tools beyond their limits, and expect the moon. Then they're upset it broke...lol. I'm not discounting some items being purely junk, but being reasonable and respectful with any tool is paramount I think. Take care, G.
Great review will be getting one in the next couple of weeks. As so many others have said, "Why haven't I bought one of these yet!"..I didn't know they existed but I will be getting one now!
+Lynette Capetillo I'm in the same boat- I should've had one years ago myself. It takes so much work out of the work! Once you get one and use it, feedback with your thoughts. Good luck, G.
My back is kicking my but for not knowing these things existed. Oh at the many wasted hours unloading a truck....! That is a nice tool to have. It is on my to get list. Thanks G.
No doubt Bain! I didn't either until about 6mo ago. I put it on my to buy list when the time came- which it has. It's next job will be to unload some gravel for the deck build. Since I can't get my truck into the back yard, I will crank in barrow fulls at a time then wheel it to the site. Super cool gadget! G.
+King of Spite Thanks! I just got home from unloading a load of brush. Took about 15 seconds! Be sure to look up a 20% off coupon to save even more. Good luck, G.
+ghostses Yeah! I just happened to see that on their Facebook page before heading out the door. I grabbed this unit and another $70 worth of stuff. Funny how a trip to the store often costs more than you thought it would. haha.
I have the Load Handler Brand. And I use painters tape on the tailgate where the brackets touch the tail gate to stop it from scratching the paint. The brackets do move a little and if there is sand or dirt between the tailgate and the brackets it is like sand paper, The painters tape comes right off when you are done using the tool
I'm wondering how well this actually would work on my three-quarter tonwhich has some kind of a trailer or boat hitch in the middle of the bed. Sadly it looks to me like that might get in the way of the operation.
@@ghostses well you said the bed should be clean otherwise it won't operate properly so I figure that's probably in the way. To test it out I have to buy the item.
I see now Frank. I've never tried it, but if you roll the fabric out into the bed, then unhook and lay the unloader on the ground, then place your ramps- you should be able to load. Then reinstall the unloader after finished. I don't see why that wouldn't work, But like I said- I've never tried it. Hope this helps, G.
Good Video. I have a 2019 Chevy and the top of the tail gate is way bigger for this and I had to drill out for another hole for the bolts. That is the only problem I had.
It is Roland! Yeah, it would be great for that. I plan on bringing in some gravel when I build my deck, so it will make easy work of unloading for sure. They're tons of uses it would be good for. I hope they do love me...lol. I spend a lot there, but save more than I spend over having to go somewhere else. Since I don't use my tools commercially, they should last a long time- the expensive ones as well as the cheap! G.
I don't know if cardboard could be the answer, but with a spray in liner, but something should be put down first I would say. If the load is extremely heavy, the slicker the better I would say. Try some cardboard and if it doesn't work- you may need to unload some by hand until you can move the load. Hope this helps, G.
Wow! This thing is amazing. Did two loads to dump concrete, what an amazing invention. I would have done more loads if it wasn’t because I was running a fever. Buy it! Just hope you have a plastic liner on the bed of your truck. Luckily I do.
Agreed Tony! I don't know how I got this far without one. It's some of the best little bit of money I've spent. Yeah, I've heard some complaints from folks with spray-on liners, or none at all. But it's a breeze with a plastic liner. Take care, G.
I've had mine for almost two years now the thing is for sure worth it's weight in gold I think you will have that for many years to come I use mine several times a year it's a very good tool
Good to hear yours is holding up well. I agree, it's worth its weight for sure! I actually used mine today to unload some demolition debris. It's some of the best money I've spent- and very little of it at that! Thanks for the post and good luck, G.
Thats simple yet clever invention. If the fabric did go you could replace it with Plastic damp proof membrane. In the UK at least, it is a blue, thick and very slipery plastic sheeting that doesn't puncture that easy.
It is Sirus. I was taken back with what little effort I had to put in to unload the rubble. Good idea on the sheeting. That might do the trick as a replacement. Take care, G.
Or maybe even as a liner underneath for the ones with a rough bed. It's easy to roll up and stor with the original cloth, rather than carring melamine or doing work to the bed. I don't really get you lot over there with trucks and the aussies with there yutes. I drive a van, but over here, if it isn't locked up it gets nicked and the weather ain't great lol
Sirus That would be a good option to use it underneath. The closest thing here I can think of to compare to a yute would be the El Camino. I never understood them personally since I don't think they could haul much weight. I never really thought about trucks- I always had one- or access to one to move loads. I'd driven vans for service years ago and preferred them over trucks to keep everything dry and locked up. Working out of a truck is the pits. I guess now I have the best of both worlds- a truck and an enclosed trailer. G.
I have the same one, used it for a spring clean up, so sticks and leaves only. When it was time to dump it, just rolled the tarp up and left the leaves in truck bed.
On some light things it might do that Rich, especially if they're lightly laying there. I smash down my loads of leaves and sticks/branches and don't have any problems. I do bring the load out slowly though. Also, make sure there's nothing behind the wells that might cause problems. Hope this helps, G.
No doubt James! I had three loads like the one shown in the clip. It was bad enough loading everything by hand after breaking it out, but coming off was a breeze. You have a chicken or the egg problem...lol. What came first- the unloader or the truck???- I don't know... G.
I wouldn't know. The first thing would be to ensure it would fit the tailgate. Some are quite thick on the top. Then, if it's too wide, you could narrow it down. Not much help, but hope it helps nonetheless. Take care, G.
I'm going to tell your neighbor that you dumped all that crap in his yard. Hahaha just joking that was awesome video there's so many times I needed one of those.
You'd be telling my dad on me!.lol It was dumped on his property. I can't imagine being without one now, and don't know how I've made so many years without one. They are awesome. Take care, G.
It might James but I think the handle would interfere with the ground. You might be able to go 180 and reposition- but I'm not sure. If you do play around with this setup- feedback with your results. Take care, G.
While I have no experience trying it in that situation, I would say it would be a problem. Here's a solution to explore. You can put this mat down with the slick side up and it should help with unloading. Even though it's kind of expensive in my opinion- the money may be well worth it. I know I would gladly pony up for the mat, especially with knowing how much work the unloader has saved me. If you do pick up the unloader and mat, feedback with how both work for you. Hope this helps and good luck, G. P.S. I didn't price shop- just posted the first link I found. www.summitracing.com/search/brand/loadhandler/product-line/loadhandler-doubl-mat-bed-mats?SortBy=default&SortOrder=ascending&autoview=sku&ar=1&cm_mmc=ppc-google-_-search-_-general-terms-_-keyword
Guaranteed that the hinge coupling for the gate gets bent like hell over time due to extreme strain. Then think of the damage to the trucks painted finish.
I thought so- I would have paid triple after knowing how well it works. I think it could be cut down no problem. You would need to remove the fabric- which is held on by tape at the end- then cut it to whatever width you would need. Then hack off the round tube on the side that doesn't have the slot for the crank handle. Or, you might not have to cut it at all if you don't mind it sticking past the sides of the trailer. Then put the fabric back on. I'm not sure how you would secure it to the trailer- but I'm sure you could figure something out. The only problem you might have is the handle hitting the ground. You might have to turn it some, then reset it to turn some more. No big deal though if you don't have to manually remove the load! If you do something like this, post a clip! G.
I will make a video if I do it. I made a jeep trailer and its not quite 4 x 6. its a few inches smaller with the wood bed. It sure does beat not having to unload it by hand. I also worried about the handle hitting the ground. Since I have a welder it wouldn't be hard to modify it. I also thought about getting a crane and putting it on the front of the trailer and building a box in a box to make the second able o dump. But that will probably make the trailer quite a bit heavier.
Its mostly done. I'm trying to figure out what to put on the bed and outside to make the wood not rot. I'd really like to put polyurethane on the outside to give it the classic wooden truck bed look to it, but we have a probably 4 gallons of used motor oil I could use for it too. We'll see.
I just bought one and noticed the crank is going to hit my bumper.. If I adjust the tube over enough to clear, then the tarp/mesh is too far to the left. Has anyone else had this problem. THANKS!
LOL! Yeah, I thought about loading everything back on the truck to do another take...lol. Perhaps on my next cameo I'll include a full shot of the Ghost- while riding in on a unicorn...Talk about a mind blower...lol. G.
Firelock LOL.. Yeah, I've always tried to place the focus on what I'm showing, saying or doing, and not on me. Also to show the perspective from my eyes and extend them to the viewers eyes. I know I learn better that way- seeing through others eyes. I never thought about, till your comments, I am just a pair of hands..lol. Take care man, G.
No I Roger, but I have heard of folks having problems. I would put something on the bed before laying out the mat. Like a tarp, or perhaps some cardboard. That should help. Good luck, G.
I own a lawn and landscape company. Our dump truck just got totaled. I was on Craigslist looking for a dump truck or trailer and after watching this I feel stupid 😂
Its too bad this isn't modeled like a conveyor belt, it could have been nifty to both load and unload things in the truck. But its a good product otherwise.
G.I. Bro That it did man! This thing is awesome! LOL, I've actually watched some of your HF reviews not too long ago. I have one of their tool chests and it's a great product as well. I thought about the 5 drawer cart to move tools back and forth to the main box, but it's only 10'...lol. Keep of the good work! G.
I bought the brand name back in 2000 and paid $180+ tax. Worth every penny. I did not know they had come down that much. Looks like another trip to divorce club.
I'm not sure if this one is the same quality as the one you have- but it sure works good enough for me- and is cheap to boot! Having used one now, I would gladly pay what you did- or even more. Enjoy your shopping spree!!! G.
***** Maybe cheaply made but for $40 how can you complain? You are right if it only lasted 2 or 3 jobs it is worth the price. Mine fell apart during Katrina delivering MRE in GNO. Lasted about three weeks. Great video, as always.
acklan3 No doubt! When it tears up I will be marching into the store to gladly buy another. Sounds like you got some good use of yours. If pick one of these up, let me know how it compares to the one you had. G.
***** I can tell you it is quite lighter just from your video. The one I had, had a hex end with a hex slot cut into a flat bar with a handle. I have not use the replacement in about a year, but I will see if I can wrestle it back from my brother and give you a run down.
This is by far the best video of this unloader being used. You addressed all issues with it and how to cope with them. Great video.
Thanks Anthony. Glad it was helpful. Take care, G.

Thanks Osmin! Glad you liked it. It's still working great after all these years. Take care, G.

Wow what a back saver G. I have to get me one of those. I guess I should get a truck first though. lol
No doubt James! I had three loads like the one shown in the clip. It was bad enough loading everything by hand after breaking it out, but coming off was a breeze. You have a chicken or the egg problem...lol. What came first- the unloader or the truck???- I don't know... G.
I wonder if it would fit my Colorado?
I wouldn't know. The first thing would be to ensure it would fit the tailgate. Some are quite thick on the top. Then, if it's too wide, you could narrow it down. Not much help, but hope it helps nonetheless. Take care, G.
Great video…thanks
Thanks Frank! G.
Best review on this product. Thanks
Thanks Cliff! Take care, G.
Excellent video. Im looking at getting one soon. Long term use, how has it held up for you?
Thanks! It's lived all these years on my truck and it's still working like day one. I would buy another in a heartbeat. Good luck, G.
@@ghostses sweet thanks for that heads up. Now I feel more confident in buying one
No problem Jon! Take care, G.
I wonder would that gizmo work on a utility trailer?
It might James but I think the handle would interfere with the ground. You might be able to go 180 and reposition- but I'm not sure. If you do play around with this setup- feedback with your results. Take care, G.
How do I replace the bumper strap, can't find one
I can't say. Harbor Freight does sell parts for some things. I don't know if this is one of them. You would need to make a call. Good luck, G.
Would a rhino liner get to much grip and not let it slide off?
While I have no experience trying it in that situation, I would say it would be a problem. Here's a solution to explore. You can put this mat down with the slick side up and it should help with unloading. Even though it's kind of expensive in my opinion- the money may be well worth it. I know I would gladly pony up for the mat, especially with knowing how much work the unloader has saved me. If you do pick up the unloader and mat, feedback with how both work for you. Hope this helps and good luck, G.
P.S. I didn't price shop- just posted the first link I found.

Awesome review dude.
Thanks! Take care, G.
He said “load” a lot”
“Grab it by the handle and crank the load”
Did you see how big of a load I had at the end of the video????... I cranked that mother out with one hand....lol. G.
ghostses Please how much is this machine and where can I get it?
Beavis breathing intensifies: "He said said load... Heh he heh."
Is this an illegal forest dumpin?
Nah, it's my dads property. Take care, G.
Ï just saw the same :D
What kind of material does he use where all the rubble gets dumped on? The mat material?
Barry, the mat comes with the unit. It is some sort of woven material. Not sure what it is though. Good luck, G.
Great video rhanks
Thanks Todd! Take care, G.
I have one on my ranger for years I love it and have it on my chanel
That's cool. I love mine too and use it more than I thought I would. I can't imagine not having one now since they work so well. Take care, G.
Great Job! Great video! Thanks
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Good luck, G.
Drop in bedliner helps alot
I would agree! G.
Can this fit a ford ranger 2000 stepside
I wouldn't know Wanda. Either way, it's a real time-saver. Good luck, G.
Thanks for your help.
Glad it was helpful, G.
Thanks for making this video
No problem! Good luck, G.
Hi all how do i get a hold of one of these things they look awesome
Harbor Freight sells them in the US. If you're in another country- I can't say. Take care, G.
@@ghostses thnx
No problem. G.
Cool! Thanks for posting.Going to get one.
No problem! Good luck, G.
Guaranteed that the hinge coupling for the gate gets bent like hell over time due to extreme strain. Then think of the damage to the trucks painted finish.
Mine is still in good shape. It can damage the paint though. G.
Great review 👍👍
Thanks! Take care, G.
Great review
Thanks, G.
You got that thing for a steal. Wow! Can it be cut down to be used with a narrower trailer?
Love2boat92
That's cool. I watched a video of yours when you were building it. I guess you got it finished. Good luck, G.
Its mostly done. I'm trying to figure out what to put on the bed and outside to make the wood not rot. I'd really like to put polyurethane on the outside to give it the classic wooden truck bed look to it, but we have a probably 4 gallons of used motor oil I could use for it too. We'll see.
Love2boat92
That's cool, post a clip once it's finished! G.
I need one for my utility trailer, for gravel and roofing shingles...
Cool! G.
Really keeps gravel and stuff from falling down between the gap in the tailgate and bed.
Very true! G.
Please how much is this machine and where can I get it?

Great video... Thanx!
Thanks and no problem! Good luck, G.
I just bought one and noticed the crank is going to hit my bumper.. If I adjust the tube over enough to clear, then the tarp/mesh is too far to the left. Has anyone else had this problem. THANKS!
Michael, I think the end of the mat is just taped on. You might be able to take it off and move it over. Good luck, G.
Thanks I ended up bending the handle and it works great...Thanks again
Good solution! I didn't even think of that. Simple enough! Take care, G.
I cant find this item in shopee..
Here you go! G.

We finally got a view of the "Ghost" in a video. It was like seeing a unicorn!!!
LOL! Yeah, I thought about loading everything back on the truck to do another take...lol. Perhaps on my next cameo I'll include a full shot of the Ghost- while riding in on a unicorn...Talk about a mind blower...lol. G.
That would be great! I always thought you were just a pair of hands!
Keep doing what your doing, I enjoy your vids.
Firelock
Will do! I'm glad you like them. G.
AWESOME FOR MY HUBBY!!!
Very good! Hope it serve him well. Take care, G.
Very nice review. Nicely explained. New to your channel.
Blessings.
Thanks Jim! Good luck, G.
This is where I need it and how to get it
Harbor Freight! G.
Anyone try this with a spray on bed liner? If so, how's functionality? TIA!
No I Roger, but I have heard of folks having problems. I would put something on the bed before laying out the mat. Like a tarp, or perhaps some cardboard. That should help. Good luck, G.
great review thanks now i will buy one
Thanks and no problem! I've been using it more and more lately and it really is money WELL spent! Good luck with yours, G.
I own a lawn and landscape company. Our dump truck just got totaled. I was on Craigslist looking for a dump truck or trailer and after watching this I feel stupid 😂
Not a replacement for a dump truck Eric, but it might get you by for a bit. Mine has serviced me well and still is. Good luck, G.
Impressive!
Thanks! Take care, G.
Do you think it would work for groceries? :)
That might be asking too much of it I would think....lol. G.
Groceries, like a ton or two of RICE? Sure! Haa-hahahaha!
logmeindangit
Don't forget the beans....lol. G.
i love that shit, i am going to harbor freight right now it is only 39 dollars

That's cool Cesar! If you haven't gone yet, look online for a 20% off coupon to save more. Good luck, G.
+ghostses ok great i will and tomorrow i am buying that thing and a few other things
Cesar Madrid
Good deal! G.
Its too bad this isn't modeled like a conveyor belt, it could have been nifty to both load and unload things in the truck. But its a good product otherwise.
True Fred! I agree, G.
Forget the dump bed!
Yep! G.
skip to 7:40 for the drop off material
Thanks! G.
Nothing like illegal dumping lol!!!
Perhaps I should try it sometime- sounds fun. G.
If you could have walked us through-rather than just tell us-would have been really helpful.
It is what it is. Good luck, G.
Holy shit, that moved quite a load. Next time you are at HF pick up the 5 drawer tool cart. th-cam.com/video/-63nLr6pNhE/w-d-xo.html
You are domping in the wrong place man....
Dumping on our personal property is the wrong place? What would be the correct place?
I have not use the replacement in about a year, but I will see if I can wrestle it back from my brother and give you a run down.
acklan3 That's cool. G.
Great review
Thanks Troy. Take care, G.
