I work for a UK coffee company supplying machines and coffee to industry and retail. The number one mistake that many people make is to pour boiling water in the cup. This kills the flavour compounds and you are likely to get a more bitter taste. If you don't have a fancy kettle that allows you select various temperatures just let the kettle boil then wait 30-ish seconds for the water to lose a few degrees. On the other hand if your taste buds aren't that great like mine then it makes no difference whatsoever. Enjoyed the video.

Seems like a worthy theme for a series. Maybe a with a final conclusion and annual price difference comparison based on your average usage.

A lot of factories that pack things like this and cereals etc .. run the machines for a period of time filling branded packs and then swap to the store brand packs and fill them with the same product.
I haven't checked on food items but the same is done with headache pills etc .. the same exact pills are in the pack , it's just the packaging is different. You can see this by looking at a product code on the package which if identical means it not only looks like it's the same , but is in fact the identical item.
As I said I'm not sure if food packaging contains the same type of marking though.

For any Kinder bueno lovers...Aldi's hazelnut Spirals taste exactly the same and are £1 cheaper for a pack.

The secret to work coffee is buy the cheapest Crp from the cheapest shop and powdered milk, leave you milk and coffee next to the kettle, over the course of a month your work colleagues will only ever "borrow" 1 cup of coffee, once all of your colleagues have boycotted your coffee refill the jar with a better brand no one will go near your Asda floor scrapings again.

My colleague used to write “Contains medication” on their milk, when that didn’t work, they wrote “contains laxatives” 🤣🤣🤣

Sitting here in The States, watching Dr. Jake compare coffees whilst I sip my own as the sun comes up is a great way to start a Saturday.
I was a truck driver for 30 years and my last job, the one I got hurt on and had to quit driving forever, was a milk producing company. I delivered milk to shops and man-0-man, I could tell stories.
The Starbucks mugs were a nice touch.

Check the barcodes and any other serial numbers on the packing. You may well find a similarly somewhere. This will indicate that the products have been packaged at the same place. Aldi spreadable butter has the same coding as the Anchor equivalent.

I think alot of people are brand snobs tbh but alot of the aldi, lidil, own brands are really good now ,I save so much money buying from aldi over asda

I definitely used to be more of a brand snob in my 20s and also was just used to using products I have seen being used at home. I have been budgeting for few years now and continue to swap for non branded goods and like you said they are just as good.

I've tried the Lidl Nescafe Azera dupe and it's not at all similar. All the coffees at Lidl taste like soggy cereal. I suspect they put chicory in it as it's not very nice to drink. Nescafe has a smooth balanced taste with a good caffeine kick.

Thing is, he kept saying "Lidl" but this coffee is blatantly from Aldi and he even added text to that effect in the opening sequence. 🥄

if there is one thing that you cant buy a cheap brand its coffee, i have tried quite a few aldi, asda, morrisons own branded versions to try and find a good one and they just arnt as good, i don't know what it is but they have a malted taste to them they dont have the rich strong taste, Im not brand loyal at i will buy 99% aldi branded things and have no issue with them but coffee is just not one of them unfortunately, i havent tried the powder alcafe like that but i might have to after this review

Asda have just brought out a new value range in yellow packaging, called Just Essentials, to help people with the small food budgets during these tough times. Some comparison reviews on that would be interesting. As someone who tries many alternatives to brand products, I'd love to see more of these comparison reviews.

I wouldn't be surpried if the coffee inside the 2 cans are identical, often unknown brands buy the coffee from an A brand manufacturer and sell it under their own name for a lesser price. Most of the time you pay for the brand name, which is more expensive.

I'd be interested in a comparison with real coffee. A Moka pot on your hob would mean you will only be boiling as much water as you need for a cup, and mine has already outlived the life of a kettle several times over. You'd have to splash out on a grinder if you get hooked and want to buy beans instead of ground. Probably a lifetime's hobby ahead of you finding a favourite bean and roast:)

They'll have been made in the same factory- just labelled differently. Less than half the price. People need to wake up to this

Someone has already picked up on the fact that boiling water doesn't go in coffee. At 6:10, I was screaming, drink the coffee!! 😂
You can't tell them apart because you drowned them in milk 😂 Without milk, Alcafe is TERRIBLE! Tried it once. Just once. In short I tipped the rest in the food waste bin!

    I may brake something now,
I am not sure why but many brands now taste like weetabix, I think they must use some flour in the drying process, probably makes more product.
But most coffee, especially freeze dried coffee, and the powdered versions taste like weetabix. Some of the top brands do not, but even now some of the better quality brands are adopting this method. I have no evidence of this. Only what I taste. But next time you drink some instant coffee, think of weetabix.

    • @timmypanic
      @timmypanic ปีที่แล้ว

Also I am not sure how your revenue works for watching videos, I could watch all of one of your breakdown videos, they are your most popular at the moment. I used to like the lego stuff.
But I watched a 15s video to begin your video. After 2min I then watched a 1:20 aprox ad and then at 6 minutes it's showing another ad. Now I know you get revenue from ads, or you used to. But as a viewer the excessive amount of ads puts me off watching videos.
Across the board. It's made google products insufferable.
I wish you every success with your enterprise. But TH-cam seems to be a dying platform for some subjects, gaming is still popular, and things that are like that.
