studies are so, SO important! practice and studying other artists are the absolute biggest things you can do to improve. thanks for the great recommendations of artists to study from, will definitely be working on some later!
For whatever reason I was hesitant to do style studies (I guess I felt like I was copying?) But recently started studying artists and styles I like... I saw improvement so quickly I swear it was magic! It's like I had that ability to physically draw it, I just didn't know how until actually looking at and breaking down these different artworks.
When you are learning and studying there in no wrong method... whatever works for you... So if you found you secret sauce, stick to it and enjoy the process 👍
Thank you much!! I made a character turnaround animation yesterday using my own current knowledge of anatomy now I'll do the same thing after studying a few artists!!!
Yo like I watch tutorials but I just mostly watch speed paints or watch the tutorial of my favorite artist with complete focus but I don't really practice, then when I sit down to draw the methods and the tips automatically come into my mind, and it's way easier for me to draw, I can't watch a tutorial and practice it at the same time so instead of watching the tutorial and practicing it at the same time, I draw something later and it's so helpful for me ngl
i have never learnt how to art, i have just done it for the past 10 years which made my art become good but not amazing - i am in a game dev school for game art now and it's really hard to start learning art when you are already good at art. It's kinda a big struggle, because you have to admit at first, that you are not good enough and that other people are better, i think that's the hardest thing you have to go through when trying to improve art.
Thank you for this video! Your killua looked so good in the end 😭😭 I feel like my progress has been slow for the most part but I'm seriously getting into studying from other artists because I think that's where I'll get most improvement.
i really appreciate your videos because you explain everything in such a simple way. my brain usually over-complicates things which makes it hard to approach certain techniques to improve my skills. thank you ☺️💗
So if I get this right 1- study an artist with an aim in mind “I want to know how artist X dose Y” 2- essentially do multiple copies of the artist’s work while consciously thinking of what you’re doing trying to catch methods or habits or rules in their art 3- try applying what you practiced with the notes you took in hand
Woah that is crazy how you make this look so easy 😅 I respect you man drawing is super hard to do and especially when it gets hard its hard to keepp doing it
@@LucasPeinador oh okay, it was a genuine question, since i don't know how people feel about it in regards to posting artist studies online. Thank you for your response :)
@@extrakimmu I think as long as you specify that it is an art study, nobody will care if you post it. Also... I wouldn't give much attention to negative comments, they can bring you down and kill your motivation to study more art styles and artists. Just make sure you never trace something from someone else and claim it as yours. That's what's not okay.
Just studying them is not stealing or anything bad... you just can not copy and then portray it as yours... but for an inspiration and educational proposes there is nothing wrong... it is actually very good for your art growth 👍
that’s why i think studies are so important! if there’s something you like about an artist’s work and their style, trying to understand and learn how to do that thing is A-Ok! it’s very different from straight up stealing their art and claiming it as your own- you’re taking inspiration from them. if it’s something substantial, like a specific pose or something they used, credit them of course, but if you’re just trying to learn how to draw eyes the way they do or something that’s perfectly valid and a great way to improve!
I know this is an old short but do you have any advice on finding artists you like? I always see the advice of study artists but I have a horrible memory and can't remember any I like every time I get this advice. It's a weird question but I don't really use much social media.
I'm doing the same: study from other artist and then test myself in drawing some stuff with the new knowledge! However, I still forget the part where I am asking myself Why do this artist draw this that way... Can you tell more about that analysis?
there is nothing wrong with that step... it is just a tool that helps artists, because we are usually not perfect and we can't expect form ourselves to do everything 100%... so it is a nice way of making Sure that things look better than before
@@LucasPeinador There's nothing inherently wrong with that step, but I stand by the belief that you're using it as a crutch The goal isn't perfection, but you are indeed defeating a lot of the purpose of studying if you'll just warp it until it looks okay to you. This step is better suited for some works that aren't done for studying. Like if you're painting or drawing something as a passion project or for someone, sure. Why not do this step? But if you're studying, try not to if you can.
there is no time limit that you can or should put to studying... it is more of what feels right for you... and what is the time that you need 👍 you can copy it directly, just be careful that you are mindful about it
With my new brushes... that are coming out in 2 days... and this is a secret so don't tell anybody yet 😉 also I am going to be publishing a bunch of videos on how to get that look
Its a nice feeling when you can still learn and improve your skills when youre already good at art. Gives art an unlimited feeling of greatness

of course I draw portraits

You need to know anatomy as well as study other artists.
Unless you are only doing landscapes, that is what you need to learn.
I don't know how true that is... it really depends on what type of artists are you
@@LucasPeinador That can be true, but knowing the fundamentals couldn't hurt.
@LucasPeinador it is true dont know why your saying its not
