      The Lakers most likely know about the details of their players' injuries, they just decide to not share many details. For example LeBron's injured right foot tendon. There are over 100 of those in the human foot, saying he injured a tendon as the real diagnosis would be pretty unprofessional.

      It happens to me on occasion for no reason, but I never sprain it until last year when that happened on an overleveled driveway to the street and fell face first. It's nothing bad but a swollen lip and weakened front teeth. I was using a cane for mental support and found out the day after that I did something to my left ankle. Every time it happens, I'm always weary to walk after because it's a whole reaction to the foot going sideways on you. My left foot did go and turn to jelly, where I banged my knees on the gym court over 10 years ago, I think. Nothing bad as I still went to where it happened, and they healed almost a day after during the next day.

My ankle'll do the same with that relatively-uninjured rolling motion and maybe he removed some weight taking off, and knew in time before landing, but idk how he's not at least more injured than that..

    Hey Doc, how much are low top shoes responsible for all these lower body injuries to players? Back in like the 2000s and before most lower body injuries happened primarily to 7 footers and above or to guys who landed on someone's foot. Now it seems ankles are rolling or Achilles tesring way more frequently with the change to low tops and it seems like the injuries don't need any contact to happen. As a hooper myself I've noticed that high top Jordans and LeBrons have saved me from an injury like this especially when I was younger and always slashing to the rim. The shoe would basically catch my ankle and keep me upright.

    My impression of a lot of injuries of lower extremities is that the shoes play a more significant role than it is conveyed in the media. Does anybody agree? It looks to me that in KDs case, his shoe wasn’t aligning with the natural axis of his foot. Therefore he stepped on the soles edge and initiated the torque that led to the sprain.

  • @paul_zoklits
    @paul_zoklits ปีที่แล้ว

    if you watch it in slow-motion you can actually see that he is already in an inversion position right before making ground contact; I would not call that slipping, and this should definitely be addressed in physiotherapy from a motor control perspective
    also interesting to keep in mind is the whole discussion around ankle taping and its usefulness, you could argue that ankle taping gives you a wrong sense of protection (in the end I would say it is more important how you move and land, rather than if you're taped or not)

  • @Pyromattic777
    @Pyromattic777 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ankle aversion or however you spell it sounds like game over cuz inversions are all too common and I've had around 3 or 4 of them in my life I learned to step more wide so as to minimize turning my ankle 90 degrees

    I play basketball ball FRFR and I had this same thing happen but KD is a lot taller and weighs more but I was perfectly fine and back on the court within 2 days tops with no problems.

      KD will be fine. Everyone needs to quit stressing out as KD will be ready by Saturday to face the Kings. No way he misses that playoff atmosphere game as Suns are just 2.5 games back of 3rd seed. Nothing will stop KD not even an Achilles injury. He’s on a mission to win a title and no ankle injury will prevent him from reaching that goal.

    This explanation is exactly why I'm wondering why everyone keeps saying that he slipped? His heel actually planted and then his ankle gave way, almost as if the muscles were too weak to keep it stable. There was actually no appearance of moisture or his heel sliding at any moment during the video.

    Thanks doc! I am more curious how did this happen to KD in the first place. We don't look at our foot when we walk, run or jump but yet we don't turn our ankle 90 degree like KD did normally. 🤔

    If you notice the ball guys were near his space while he was going for the dunk. Could Kevin had tried to avoid them subconsciously and that may have caused the injury by his body not having proper proprioception?

  • @thiennguyen9747

    kd gathered the ball and did a heel strike,
    prob because the left arm swing was "out of the calculation" of his proprioception,
    his ankle couldn't compensate for the torso swinging motion as soon as the heel land it all went down hill

    Small thing at 0:16, Durant already has played 3 games as a member of the Suns. This was not his debut night.
