Using a heat gun with variable heat settings, what temperature would you recommend using to melt the adhesive?

About 200 degrees is ok.

Why do some remove the speaker, while others do not? The speaker doesn't seem to be in the way of the battery.

When the battery is original is the best way. When was one time replaced is only remove the battery.
No need to take almost everything out.
