    This is a great idea. I have a 200mm commute scooter. Use it for the times when I don't have time to ride a bike. I ride through parks, trails, and lots of payment, usually not in a straight line. This beast hits all the marks and will be the upgrade I'm looking for. Just bought the Marine. Live 3 miles from the beach, this is going to be nothing but fun. Exactly what I was hoping someone made at the quality level that would last until my daughter can grow in to it. Also the wheel bearings are crap. You have to push like a madman (every 8 feet) just to maintain a paltry 15 km/h. So much bearing friction. Maybe a bike shop could replace with high-quality wheel bearings.

I'd rather wear the tyre a little faster, and have a cleaner cockpit, with one less cable, running down the frame. If the rear brake works well enough, I'll even disconnect the front brake, so it will have a super simple, low maintenance set up. You'll also save a few grams.

    Deck height - Will it catch on speed bumps or sidewalk ramp downs?
    Deck length - can it fit a size 13 shoe comfortably? 13 is largest standard shoe size.
    Handlebar tube NEEDS to be taller off the assembly line.
    The scooter won't sell to adults if it's max rider height is 5 10.
    You need 6 2 rider height, size 13 platform to be viable in commuter sales.

    For the life of me I will never understand why not engineer it where the handlebar can be adjusted high for taller folks and why so little clearing underneath, it looks like it's about an inch off the ground.

    • @nycewheels
      @nycewheels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The lower the deck, the easier it is to kick. Having it higher off the ground will require the rider to put in a lot more effort to go the same distance as if the deck were lower. Swifty does make the Swifty Air, which appears to be a bit higher off the ground because of the larger tires and it's offroad nature.
      As we stated in the video, a simple change of handlebar can give the upright position for taller people.

      ??? 'Bikes' are generally split into or preceded by: Motor (motorbikes), Push (bicycles), Balance (no pedals, today usually for kids, what the old folks called a 'dandy horse' when full sized for adults) and kickbikes when referring to bicycle wheeled scooters that came out during the BMX craze but didn't catch on as much as the Razor did and whose concept wasn't revived until the mid 90s. 'Scooters' (or kick scooters) referred to skate wheeled examples. Here's a UK shop for kickbikes:
      kickbikescooters.co.uk
      I have no clue what they call things in the US. I thought 'scooter' was what they called mopeds...

    • @EvilTwin123
      @EvilTwin123 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ememe1412
      Great explanation.
      Scooter has 3 meanings in US of AYYYY.
      1) Vespa style motorized scooter having no pedals. Otherwise it's a "mo...ped"
      2) Electric or kick platform. With or without seat. 2 or 3 wheels
      3) Mobility assist electric 3 or,4 wheel device ... "Rascal" being the most recognized brand name to refer to.

    • @ioanc2
      @ioanc2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, mopeds ARE scooters because they also have a platform, small wheels and low ground clearance. Or to put it another way, if you make a kick scooter bigger and give it a seat, it becomes a moped.

      Yeah.
      From a BIKE SHOP
      not target, walmart or thrift stores.
      Bicycle shops specialize in bike products advice and expertise.
      Walmart is a Chinese warehouse of 3500 things that no one in the entire store knows Jack shxt about...but hey it's cheaper.
      Its gonna be half the price, not quite fit properly, handle & ride inferiorly and last proportionally less than,a quality one from a bike shop.
      If you think that way, eat Alpo for dinner tonight.
      Its only one night. Doesn't have to be that good. Save $2 vs a can of chili.
      Wal-Mart bikes are the alpo of bikes.
      ANDVA VAST MAJORITY OF BIKE SHOPS WON'T WORK ON THEM.
      *"Domino bikes"
      The problem you have is related to one or more other issues arising from cheap quality parts with poor manufacturing all for price point sales.
      To fix your one issue, 3 others have to be remedied first.
      But....
      1) How you mesh quality bike parts with a crap bike?
      2) You're never going to want to pay for the repair.
      $5 repair on a quality bike is $20+ on a Wal-Mart bike and I can't guarantee it to work or hold up.
      That's why there is a bike sold at Wal-Mart called "NEXT".
      If you have a problem other than a basic flat tire....NEXT!

    Low maintenance. Bikes have very low maintenance as well given that you have the V breaks. This thing is only good as a project scooter. Buy an electric motor slap it on the back wheel and there it is.

      I want to do just that with my impulse-bought Swifty Scooter. But I don't know where to hide the cable without exposing it.

    Its many screw joints and those thin metal parts in the folding mechanism do not reassure me of the "tanking" capability of the bike. If you are a big dude and you crash/fall from this thing on speed, would its moving parts survive? I decided to go with a simpler Xootr model with fever movable parts and thicker metal pieces since I am a beginner and I want my scooter to last more than a 1 fall. Swifty is a very cool bike though, but I am not ready to fall on 700 pounds.

      Xootrs' wheels don't look like they would handle pebbles at fast speeds well, though.

      @@773Spair I don't ride over pebbles even at slow speed, not good for wheels since it can chip them. I step off and lift the scooter if I see any scattered debris. I neither use high speed if it's not a super clear and smooth road, I mean I rarely scoot faster than I can run myself. I use no protection, haven't fallen yet in a year of my daily use. I almost crashed once when the wheel got caught in a plate junction while riding from the hill, but I managed to step off in time and run off safely. I guess using small wheels makes you more perceptive and agile, makes your ankles more resistant to trauma. I would say it's almost like walking or running, gotta look where you "step".

      @@D.2023 Thank you. -then it seems an Xooter wouldn't be safe for me: I live in a hilly area with gravel on the sides of our road. People sometimes cut the corners, spreading pebbles over the road, which I wouldn't be able to dodge in time at 11 or 14 MPH.

      It not any more of a problem than on any bicycle, and it's easier to change a flat on these.

      Schwalbe Marathon do a 16" and they simply don't get punctured.

      @@GavinMorris1 I agree with you, But on SwiftyOne, back wheel, you can put only Kenda KWest tires, because of the limited space. On the front you can add a wider better puncture resistant tires.
