    Thank you for a brilliant history video will you be doing others from that early power unit as we caterpillar collectors still run maintain and show our engines really would like to see a history video of the D315 power plants made and put into service very interesting

    during ww2, you wanted a cat to go to war, they were hard starting and you won't be first to fight! best engines ww2 detroits!!

      Did you make that up, Chad? Cats had the gasoline pony engine starter - it not only had the same function as an electric starter motor, its exhaust and common coolant warmed up the diesel engine, so it would start no matter how cold the weather was.
      Diesel engines with electric start will not start below a certain temperature, but a gasoline engine always will.
