Just a heads up if you're starting to watch this, Chris stopped playing, so it's not the complete game. It just stops randomly in the middle of the game.
Thanks for the heads-up. Somewhat appropriately I started watching this in an effort to motivate myself to start playing PoE again, after I stopped rando...well, maybe not totally randomly - in the middle of the game.
Thanks. I hate watching playthroughs that just stop part way through. Nothing against streamers stopping a game if they’re not enjoying it; I would just rather not watch a partial playthrough.
In games like these I always get stuck at character creation, I may start the game multiple times because I cannot make up my mind and that causes me to stop playing the game :(
+Lemonsandgrapes That's part of the fun of RPGs man, the good ones anyway. They warrant multiple playthroughs, giving you the chance to experiment with different classes, weapons, and choices than you did the first time. There's no right answer here, just make the best character you can and go with it, and if you don't entirely like it just yet wait until you start leveling and become more experienced, start seeing the strengths and weaknesses of not just your main character himself/herself but how he/she works together with your party. Every character can be great if your willing to put the time and effort into making them great.
Yeah me too. Funny thing is I've never actually beaten skyrim but I've had it since it first came out. That's meaning complete the main quest btw. You dont actually beat skyrim because you can always do the side missions but I've never made it to the end of the main plot.
If you're interested in becoming one of my in game companions, leave a comment and tell me your proposed name/class/race/etc! Thumb this up for visibility please!
I recently subscribed to you because u are a gem among letsplayers nowadays. I am so happy that i finally found a letsplayer who actually reads codex entries etc who actually places more emphasis on the storytelling aspect of the game. Keep it up man cheers
Ya he is my favorite I also like him because he thinks about things a little more deeply than other LPers and he is a good guy my favorite LPs from him are BioShock Infinite and the Mass Effect series
Have put abut 32 hours into this game already, and loving every moment of it. Suddenly a thought popped into my head "wonder how Mr. Odd would play this" thinking that you might not pick it up, but you did! After 50 minutes of watching you I realise how different playthroughs can be as many of the things I experienced didn't happen or happened differently for you, which is aweome, and that's just the beginning. It will be very interesting how the rest of it turns out. Will be following this paired with my own playthrough so keep it up ;)
I'm completely captivated by this game. Can't wait to play it! Reminds me so much of Baldur's Gate 2, yet the writing is more detailed and descriptive. Very impressed by Obsidian's effort, this seems like a home run.
Damn. I found this series to refresh my memory on the opening hours of this game, but watching you play and narrate is almost more fun than playing it myself.
I love the video's but man there is a lot of reading going on lol. I know this is really late on this comment but I was looking for an rpg game that has a really great story. This one looks awesome. I would love to get this game but money is tight.
This episode brings back so many fond memories of us playing baldurs gate 1 en 2. Happily the music in some parts is exactly the same. I am gonna skip this lets play but thats merely because i dont wanna spoil anything else. Good job Chris have fun playing a game that i really hope will give this generation as much fun as baldurs gate gave me in the past.
If you've played through Pillars of Eternity and are looking for a different kind of experience, I'd recommend trying for the Solo achievement (completing the game with no companions after the Tutorial section.) It is a vastly different experience, because you have to employ cunning tactics and use just about every trick and magic item you get to survive. I discovered a number of useful strategies, but much of the fun comes from figuring out the best way to beat the game on your own. I will say, that it is possible not only to beat the game without companions, if you do things right, it is even possible to complete the Endless Path (which is not necessary for the Solo achievement.)
Hey odd, I haven't been around for a while but I decided to check out your new let's play on this game. And I gotta say, you have really become an excellent lper. I've always liked your stuff in the past, but you definitely have a great personality for this.
You know, I never really paid much attention to the whole Kickstarter thing because I just didn't see it really taking off and creating something truly memorable and worth my time. Needless to say, I regret that decision now. Only a few minutes in and I can already see the heart and soul Obsidian put into this game and I intend to play it myself at some point.
Gonna have to wait with watching this until I have it myself to avoid spoilers. But here is my companion suggestion. Inspired by my current DnD character by the same name and appearance Angus Mcduff. Male Human Oceanfolk Paladin You can build him for whatever you need but this is how I imagine him. 2 handed weapon (Sword/Estoc preferred) Flames of Devotion Maxed might Keep buffing flames of devotion and single target damage, this guy is meant to make the big bad guy go down as quick as possible. Appearance: Facial Hair: 13 Bald Hair Darkest hair color Darkest brown skin Head 4 Sorry if its a bit much but looking forward to seeing you play this game!
Dude, your narration of the adventure and game is awesome! Myself, being hard of hearing it's hard to hear people that don't have deep and clear voices. Props for that dude!
I gotta say... I absolutely enjoy your Let's Plays Mr. Odd! I'm proud to be one of your Fans and surscribers and I do hope you never stop creating such wonderful videos for many of us to watch :) Hehehaha! I knowww... It's a bit too much flattery but I stand by what I said. :P I like how you voice out your chosen sentences too. It doesn't sound like you're reading, it actually sounds like you're added a bit of personality in the tone you say these sentences and I absolutely love this! :D
I'll only allow myself to watch this first part at the most, but I'm super excited to play on the 26th! Glad to see you bringing this to the masses, Odd!
I'm watching this to see if I will enjoy it. The game's been out so long now, everyone seems to love it, and Obsidian is working on another, so I feel the need to finally play it.
Hi Odd, don't know how much information you need so will do abit of it all :) -Salazer, Male -Pale Elf Paladin, Darcozzi Paladini order -Attributes and Powers up to your discretion -Culture, The White that Wends -Background, Mystic and Voice, Mystic I enjoy RP and pencil and paper RPG's very much, and this game looks awesome. Cannot wait for the series to progress! Good luck!
So, not surprising Odd takes the challenge to beat this story-monster. His voice is also quite suited for these kind of games, as it's rather nice to listen to. Big plus in my book! Of course, as a Backer (need to brag about it :-)) I am totally biased about this game but: I am so glad Obsidian made it. Even though modern RPGs are still okay and fun we RPG-Nerds need games like this, that are less about cinematics and flashy combat, but put more focus on story (including sidequest, Bioware, a mere letter in the wilds is not a story...) and have our own fantasy run wild. I really like that world Obsidian created, I want to explore it more. Still not finished the game, but looking forward to keep playing and check on Odd's episodes until he catches up with my progress. And I am sure the one enemy that gave me multiple wipes (damn you, Skaen and your ilk!) will be a cakewalk for indestructible Odd... Oh, and for anyone interested: Just experiment a little in the prologue: Have Heodan injured during the little cutscene, then rescue him and in the cave, after a small dispute, have a rest as he wishes...what happens then really took me off-guard and is quite unusual for even older RPGs ^^ Not a big thing though, but a nice touch...
I am totally new to this type of game, I too am creating a cipher but I notice you start with 15 focus where I have only 7?? Would someone please explain why that may be.
Cool... just long enough to get an idea how the game begins without going too deep into the story. The only question I now have is what important attribute stats are for paladins (I'm planning to play a Moon Godlike Paladin) and what playable characters I will meet before I can recruit my own custom characters. I like to plan everything out before starting an RPG. But to do so without spoiling too much is hard.
Wow, that's like exactly like Baldur's Gate... even the sound effects for picking up and laying down items are the same. =D That's great! Thought there'll never be a game like BG anymore.
wow, the difference from the soundtracks are crazy! compare this with the witcher 2 soundtrack... this has ways more ambience and can be listened to for more than 3 minutes!!!

Having become a fan of Critical Role in the past year or so, I can't watch this series and not recognize Sam Riegal and Matt Mercer's voices :D. Can't wait to see if you upload PoE 2: Deadfire as well, Odd. The entire cast of my favorite nerdy-ass, D&D playing voice actors are in that one XD.
+kalzonenu Ah, nice to see someone that agrees with me that Origins is the only good dragon age. No matter how many times I replay it I don't get bored. Sarcastic hawke was the only good thing about DA2, and I won't even start with Inquisition's flaws.
After playing Divinity: Original Sin 2 I'm not sure I could play a cRPG that doesn't voice act everything, including narration. It's also a shame that the portraits are paintings instead of direct representations of the character. I always hate when my character doesn't match the portrait which often happened in Baldur's Gate games.
I know I'm late to the party, but man just got Pillars of Eternity yesterday, and I've already pumped six hours in to it, didn't even realize how many hours went by.
Just a heads up, it's easy to accidently skip most of act 1. I hadn't realized I had done so until I looked on the wiki to confirm claims I was making in the previous version of this comment. I had spent years assuming that the game had activly prevented you from aquiring information to judge a faction/situation until after you completed that quest, only to realize you are supposed to have done a lot of quests if you follow the game "properly". It's the equivalent of stumbling into rivet city without ever entering megaton in fallout 3. And I did it by accident.
It looks and sounds very much like a new Baldur's Gate title in style, and I love it! The only issue I have is that in 2015 I had expected fully voiced characters for better immersion. I guess it would be too expensive for Obsidian to pay all the voice actors for such a vast dialogue.
Im amazed at how similar it is too Baldurs gate. The font/lettertype, the music, the main character voice when he is casting... It looks like an amazing game
Just started playing . Knew about it but only decided to play after listening to the audiobook blood sweat and pixels. It's still early days but getting my arse kicked on easy lol. Think my party needs to be bigger to be honest
This game looks very similar to Baldur's Gate, but with a lot better gameplay mechanics: detection circle, comparing equipment, using items that not in your inventory yet (e. g. reading journal), party member's icons when they are not on your screen, etc. A lot of stuff that was bothering me in Baldur's Gate is fixed here. Only one minus that I've seen so far: this game is easier. Maybe later it isn't, idk. But after this episode I already love this game. I'll get it, when I have money for it. And I won't watch other episodes so I don't get spoiled any further.
Yeah, the first time I played this game I didn't know you can pause the game and give orders, i played all the way to for the majority of the game not doing that
ChristopherOdd Like all your Let's Play, they serve as inspiration for mine. Use Stealth even if your character don't have good skills for that, maybe they can find secret containers and traps. Try to make camera movement more faster, it will help (in Options->Graphics). By the way, Keys S and D change time speed (S=Slow D=Faster), S is good to explore dungeons and D to move faster to known locations. Thanks for your amazing vids. Regards
Ok, Im feel stupid, I didnt see you made 21 videos of the game. Im sure you know more than me at this point, so disregard my last comment and keep them comming!!!
+chris c Not deep? It's obviously not as interactive as real world, but I was amazed at the ways only the tutorial section can go. I played a barbarian and in that first cave I was like "yo where's my weapon". I thought it a bug so I googled it. Turns out I actually lost the weapon from throwing it to save te guy. Then the girl left us cause I stopped for a break to help out the injured guy, and stole my water. I wasn't expecting that to actually happen.
chris c Don't know about baldur's gate, as I haven't played it, but I have just VERY RECENTLY (month or 2 ago) played through planescape torment. It was enjoyable, but I don't see why it is called "the best story of all time"...I didn't even get a proper answer to "what can change the nature of a man". I still enjoyed it a lot, as I did Arcanum, Fallout 1 and 2 and Dragon Age Origins. The game seems pretty similar to all of those from what I can tell.
To anyone looking to find a good letsplay of this amazing game: look elsewhere. While I thoroughly enjoy a lot of Chris' content, he abandoned this letsplay with little explanation around the 20th episode, and I made the mistake of getting invested in it only to be burned by a youtuber that doesn't really care about his fanbase. Despite seeming to enjoy the game, he apparently dropped this series because it wasn't bringing in enough views and so he couldn't make much money off of it, which is a damn shame. While I understand it's possible he did this because he thought his audience didn't enjoy it, thus the fewer views, that's a very bad way to cultivate a healthy fanbase. Play what you want, as much as you want, and the real loyal fans will watch anyway, because they enjoy your personality, not just what's going on in the background. Sorry Chris, you may have meant well but this was a bad move and I lost a lot of respect for you.
Is anyone else having issues with the comments function on youtube recently? I keep losing the ability to type or interact at all with what I am typing. Not sure why or how it is happening. Sometimes if I use the backspace key it puts me back to the last page I was on. Really annoying.
So you want a stealthy dude, who is small so he can be extra stealthy, and then you give him a flaming head.
Ephemis Priest He will basically be a tiny walking candle.
+clawdigger23 Exaaaaaaactly...
What normally is used to DISCOVER if someone is hiding
This comment is so funny lol
I read the comment before watching the video,I was not disappointed 😂

steam sale 16,79€
kuantumsuicide That is actually pretty cheap.
Loved the pronunciation of "achipelago" lol
I can't stop playing this game. I watching your videos as I play along.
Oghren!
Those 75 minutes went by like a snap of the finger. Pretty engaging story so far.
I will be adding this one to my list of games for sure.
This episode brings back so many fond memories of us playing baldurs gate 1 en 2. Happily the music in some parts is exactly the same.

You're feeling ill and sweating? Yeah, might be because your body is on fire! Just a hunch.
mrbitbot actually that brings up something odd it says that their skin is stonelike with fire coming from the cracks so how is he sweating?
My ears perked up when I heard The Meat Man!
If you've played through Pillars of Eternity and are looking for a different kind of experience, I'd recommend trying for the Solo achievement (completing the game with no companions after the Tutorial section.)

Thanks for existing mate. This is not the first time I've thought about getting a game and then found your "let's play" with it. Thanks!
I came across this Let’s Play yesterday and bought it also!! Thanks Chris!! 👍
MrEffectfilms they also made Fallout New Vegas I believe
Just got this on sale for $16!!
Gonna have to wait with watching this until I have it myself to avoid spoilers.
But here is my companion suggestion.

You can build him for whatever you need but this is how I imagine him.
2 handed weapon (Sword/Estoc preferred)

Darkest brown skin
Head 4
Sorry if its a bit much but looking forward to seeing you play this game!
Here I am, deployed l, waiting for my computer to get here. I watched your video and now this will be the first game I play. Thanks!
Dude, your narration of the adventure and game is awesome! Myself, being hard of hearing it's hard to hear people that don't have deep and clear voices. Props for that dude!

Hi Odd, don't know how much information you need so will do abit of it all :)
-Salazer, Male
-Pale Elf Paladin, Darcozzi Paladini order
-Attributes and Powers up to your discretion
-Culture, The White that Wends
-Background, Mystic and Voice, Mystic
I enjoy RP and pencil and paper RPG's very much, and this game looks awesome. Cannot wait for the series to progress! Good luck!
I want to play this so bad, won't be watching your Let's Play so i don't get spoiled. Sorry Odd.
JohnMarstonArg You can always watch his after you play it yourself. :)
ZeffiesMC Exactly my plan :)
I'm going to watch up to where I am in the game, which is fairly far into it.
So, not surprising Odd takes the challenge to beat this story-monster. His voice is also quite suited for these kind of games, as it's rather nice to listen to. Big plus in my book!

A midget "stealthy", matchhead... really?!?
A MATCHHEAD?! You racist!
ChristopherOdd
Don't listen to him! Hes just Uneducated!
Right? Chris always makes the most fucked up characters, it's crazy.
Reading the comments about stealthy character with flaming head is the best gave me a good laugh. Good job OP.
I am totally new to this type of game, I too am creating a cipher but I notice you start with 15 focus where I have only 7?? Would someone please explain why that may be.
Speaking of Baldur's Gate, I'd love to see you do a playthrough of that game or its sequel!
Did this come out earlier in America? 3 days left until it comes out in the UK.
This looks like a great game, may have to pick it up.
Love the name might use it in my next rpg hope you don't mind
Cool... just long enough to get an idea how the game begins without going too deep into the story. The only question I now have is what important attribute stats are for paladins (I'm planning to play a Moon Godlike Paladin) and what playable characters I will meet before I can recruit my own custom characters.
I like to plan everything out before starting an RPG. But to do so without spoiling too much is hard.
You going to do the white march?
Wow, that's like exactly like Baldur's Gate... even the sound effects for picking up and laying down items are the same. =D
That's great! Thought there'll never be a game like BG anymore.
wow, the difference from the soundtracks are crazy!
compare this with the witcher 2 soundtrack...
this has ways more ambience and can be listened to for more than 3 minutes!!!
I always grab a cuppa and some snacks when sitting down to one of your vids! Looks to be an interesting series!
You got an early copy! Damn... Ain't gonna be watching this till I play through it myself though. Have fun!
is this game any good? it looks like its full of lore and lots of micro management, which will take time for me to appreciate.
also the graphics not really good, but the character customization and combat looks appealing.
i really want to try this game but im still not sure after playing the other similiar game, DOS.
My wife is not going to be happy. I foresee many hours spent on this game!
Huh. Focusing on stealth with the "I'M ALWAYS ON FIRE!" race. lol
Being here 8 yrs later. I can see why I can't find a Skyrim let's play on your channel. Maybe I haven't searched hard enough
A stealthy guy made of fire? 😉
Can't you zoom in and out? Can you rotate the camera angle? Curios, either odd doesn't use these features or the game doesn't have them.
so glad u did a lp of this i will b watching em all great work
What's a party without Jackjaw, the Coastal Aumaua Stag Druid?
Finally! Chris, have fun, this is going to be amazing! :)
Thanks Mr Odd for doing this so promptly
I hope the game will be great
Having become a fan of Critical Role in the past year or so, I can't watch this series and not recognize Sam Riegal and Matt Mercer's voices :D. Can't wait to see if you upload PoE 2: Deadfire as well, Odd. The entire cast of my favorite nerdy-ass, D&D playing voice actors are in that one XD.
I didn't even realize until today that I have two Mercers in my party. May have to hire an adventurer so I can quest with all 3 lol
I did the same thing! I heard Heodan, and my brain went, "Hey! I know that guy!" Love those nerdy ass voice actors.
I thought the release date was a few days later?
Your play resolution looks smooth and fast what are your settings that make it like that?
Is this somewhat similar to Neverwinter nights 1-2 or Dragon Age 1 (ie the only good DA)? Kinda looks like it?
+kalzonenu Ah, nice to see someone that agrees with me that Origins is the only good dragon age. No matter how many times I replay it I don't get bored. Sarcastic hawke was the only good thing about DA2, and I won't even start with Inquisition's flaws.

Holy damn now I'm so damn jealous!! Been waiting for this from kickstarter day 1!!
I really like how in depth the character creation is though
Odd this is AWESOME! Definitely sticking around
The main character really reminded me of the dark prince from Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones if anyone remembers that game.
How can I use a fire ball to make a huge damage
You have done a similar start as Marbozir which is awesome because I love his character and yours
Awesome! Looks like just the game for you Odd! *grabs hot beverage
You can back away from the xaurip and later you find meat and give it to him then loot the barrel next to him. He also gives you his spear.
How did you get this game? :O

Oh, Im just begining to watch this video and the lore of this game already seems awesome :o
Seek wants to be a tank/warrior class. Seems to work out well for you in dota when I tank.
awesome video, really cool how you do your videos, subbed!
I didn't realize the game was out! gotta go download it now.
what is your difficult setting mr. odd?
is there a downloadable strategy guide? what is the easiest class to level??
+Jim Shannon I hear the easiest class is to not play the game
It's basically a fighter, but not at all
+Jim Shannon I played as paladin. Good enough support and tanks like hell.
Nice work, love Obsidian rpg's.
Well this made me buy the game, looks AWESOME!
I love this game so damn much!
normal??? do you also squat when you piss?
Doesn't it have a release date for the 26th?
It does! They provided copies to LPers and Streamers to build hype before the release! Very generous of them.
Yeah, the first time I played this game I didn't know you can pause the game and give orders, i played all the way to for the majority of the game not doing that
got to check this game out
I walk through the the end and missed most of the inside dungeon

Like all your Let's Play, they serve as inspiration for mine.
I kinda wish you could save your starting party or recruit that xaurip in the caves but pillars isn't as deep as it would like you to believe.

If that impressed you, baldurs gate and planescape torment will blow your mind.
chris c Don't know about baldur's gate, as I haven't played it, but I have just VERY RECENTLY (month or 2 ago) played through planescape torment.
I really want to see this series, but I prefer to wait until I have the game myself =D
YES!... Finaly it's out!... sorry but i need to play this myself, so see you in the future let's play... ;)
Not inconsistent, consistent.
I feel alseep and the computer played another 8 parts of this series before I woke up. It was playing them for the whole night. lol
I just started playing this, went as a female human, moon godlike Druid. Suddenly turning into a werewolf and typing my foes asunder is so satisfying.
@ 2:44 Holy sh!t that sistah had a curly afro! Curiousity factor +50. Total interest = 75.
Wait so you're playing as a stealthy candle?
game looks awesome. I'm waiting for it to download. the only shitty thing about working in indonesia is the damn slow internet- 1 day for 7 gigs….
Balthazar Blackwood he is a death godlike wizard with a human build and stoic voice
Also male
just found you and i like that your videos are longer than 15 or 20 minutes
Is anyone else having issues with the comments function on youtube recently?
I keep losing the ability to type or interact at all with what I am typing. Not sure why or how it is happening. Sometimes if I use the backspace key it puts me back to the last page I was on. Really annoying.
It actually happened to me yesterday, but refreshing the page helped. I'm assuming you've tried that, then....just blame google.
ChristopherOdd
Yes, if in doubt blame google :)
Thanks for your excellent LPs
Is it just me or does heodan sound like scanlan?......... wait is Heodan played by sam reigel?
