I was like you where I didn't see my mother all that often but then at age 73 she had a medical scare and ended up in the hospital for 10 days. I came to the realization that we might not have that many more days together so I resolved to see her once a week (usually for dinner) and we continued that for the next 16 years until she passed of cancer. I have many regrets that the cancer couldn't have been found sooner but I have no regrets that I didn't spend enough time with her! I highly recommend that if your parents are nearby that you set a schedule for seeing them lest the time slip away.
@@solracer66 Thank you for sharing your story. It’s a powerful reminder of how important it is to prioritize time with family while we can. Time with family is priceless.
Great video, thanks! I retired "early", at age 64, but originally was going to wait til age 70 to stop working (to maximize SSEC). Basically I felt exactly as you articulated. You summed up those reasons much more clearly than I could! Thanks again.
I understand the “concept” of the video but overall is super unrealistic. I get the family thing and the average age of when people should retire but this video didn’t make sense to me. None of the content covers retirement, like a 401k or Roth. Jude weird to me 😊
Yes retire ASAP! Punched in to my last cubicle at 31. FI in 40s. Don't mind having my adult Gen Zs at home. Move out = 90% done seeing them. Haven't seen my parents 30 days over 30 yrs I bet. You're right!
Retired at 62 after 38 years of work, zero (0) debt, living frugally within means. Thank God I did it.
@@iczemi Amazing work. Good for you!
"I wish I spent more time at the office," said noone ever on their death bed. Great video.
@@josephtaylor3857 Exactly. No one regrets choosing life experiences over office hours. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
the people who are saying that are living under a bridge now, not on their death bed
I'm still at my desk at 85, and hope I die on it. I love working.
@@duckman5642 If what you’re doing brings you joy and fulfillment then you’re blessed to have found your calling. Amazing and I’m happy for you!
It feels like way too many of co-workers have their life goal as spending as much time online at work as possible.

From my perspective this video is about “WHY” not how to prepare for retirement. I believe he said it early “you have to be financially ready”.
