    Looking at the box art/release pics in the article, it does look like the drill is meant to be held by the wings.
    Which... Great, BUT
    £20 if you are using the wings to turn you have the added risk of catching the locking screw(?) and undoing it.
    and while all that seems fine for a couple of bits, but if you are doing a squad you are going to need a massage after.
    £15 The scraper having a small notch for bases is a cool looking touch, but as you mentioned having an addition isn't necessarily an upgrade (especially when alot of people went for a good part of their hobby lives using a knife or some sand paper on a dowel)
    £19 The overhang on the knife is a nice touch, I tend to use the blade with my finger on the back of the blade and have my own similar modification on my blade to allow that, but it's not a game changer for me
    £30 Clippers I'd be interested in, I have been using the clippers I got when I started out as a kid and could use an upgrade tho I wouldn't be looking at them if I wasn't coming up to looking at clippers anyway

    Honestly my biggest grumble about these, is the plastic body, the old tools *felt* premium and, frankly really nice in the hand

    I'm a big ass dude with tiny hands and looks like you just saved me some money on that drill! I'm going to keep using my Army Builder drill instead since I have no issues with that one.

    Totally agree on the pin vice drill, it doesn't fit in my hand well either. The wings make it very awkward to turn smoothly. I have returned to using my Amy Painter drill with the drill bits from the new Citadel one. Great review!

    I have small hands for a guy just bigger than my Wife’s, I never hold a tool like this as first demonstrated. A torque tool should not be rotating into soft hands. I remember doing that early in my first job I ended up with terrible blisters and my Supervisor did his nut because I could not assemble racks for a good week until my skin had recovered. I was told that unless the base of the tool has a rotating base which you get with small head screw drivers never turn torque devices in the palm of your hand these hand drills should not require that level of pressure to create a hole.

    The other thing to mention is the price, I just went to preorder the sprue cutters & they cost £30 in the UK. Most other sets are £10 or under & even the old fine detail version from GW was only £20.

    • @DarcyBonoCreations
      @DarcyBonoCreations  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for doing that. They're not up for sale in the US yet, so I still don't have that info atm. Was going to include it in the description once they're available.
      Hmm the Sprue Cutters have been $30 here for awhile. But either way that means they ARE selling a cheaper made product at the same price point 😐.

    Even on guys, ninjon’s vid showed how it wasn’t ergonomic for guys hands either. No QA department, not enough R&D before production. Should have sent it to creators with an NDA before production, not after. Glad they are sending you stuff to review. Great review for sure! Love how candid you are. I am considering the clippers now depending on the price!

    • @DarcyBonoCreations
      @DarcyBonoCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks so much! Really glad you found it helpful 😃. And yeah I agree, I was kinda surprised they sent it to us after it was already due for release. The clippers are good, but the $50 price point is pretty high. I don't think it's as unjustifiable as the prices of the other tools though.

    Heel of the hand is where the drill is supposed to sit. It gets easier with practice.

    I got the pin vice, cutters and knife in 2018 when I got back into the hobby. All metal and comfortable to hold. The plastic wings and odd shapes of the new ones would not be comfortable to me. I will invest in the cutters if they were not £30.
    Like you I used the blade rather then mold line remover. But how is that on the tiny wrapped leather around the wrists?

      Thanks for watching! I use Red Grass Games Nippers.
      www.redgrassgames.com/precision-nippers/?ref=72
      They're a slightly smoother cut than the new Citadel ones, and can get super close to the mini. I'd say the two cutters are fairly comparable though, and the longer blades on the Citadel ones are a pretty nice feature.

    Saw someone elae with a review set of the clippers - his had misaligned blades. So you might end up having to return/exchange them if you’re buying online. Here in Australia the new clippers are 50% more than the old premium gw clippers.

  • @MiniPainterGamerDadD20
    @MiniPainterGamerDadD20 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Knowing GW they'll cost more and break easier. I love their hobby handles and the contrast paints but as far as any other products I can find the same stuff at Hobby Lobby for far cheaper. The mold line cleaner is pretty sweet though. I do need one of those.

    You can find the drill size problem all over the industry, but the wings aggravate it. Add to it the fact that it comes with pins that are too small for magnets... Any random drill on the internet is better for half the money.
    But the clippers look amazing!

      I'm currently using the Army Painter drill, and like that quite well. It's main down side is you have to keep switching out the collets (the vice tips) and even the biggest isn't enough to drill for larger magnets. This cheapo one from Amazon is also good for the price. I've had it for a couple years. It's not as fluid as the Army Painter one though.

    The drill looks awful, honestly, Zona tools makes a better one, all steel and closer to the size you'd like. Nice to hear about the clippers though, I'll keep that in mind when/if my current ones give up the ghost. I think you nailed it on the target audience as well.

    • @DarcyBonoCreations

    They are seems to bei a Christmas Trap for Patents, who're trying to do something Special for laying it under the Christmastree. Yeah the spruecutter looks great and with the sharp tip, great. But the other 'tools', even with the known GW price policy, ....worthless?

  • @Atlach_va
    @Atlach_va ปีที่แล้ว

    Were there any shots of the burrs the sprue cutters left? The burrs on the orks looked quite bad, so if that was done with these cutters . . .
    Also, looking at the shots of cutting with them, that looked anything but low effort. The old cutters at least had a unique stylish look to them, and worked fairly well.
    Seems like another swing and miss with GW tools.

    • @DarcyBonoCreations
      @DarcyBonoCreations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I cut pretty far away from the minis, so any burs were intended (also so I could show cutting something with the hobby knife later). You can get a fairly flush cut with these, you just have to angle them at an incline. They really do give a low effort slice, and any struggle was mainly just me trying to hold both the sprue and the cutters while staying in frame. But I agree, the rest of the series is definitely a swing and a miss.

    Real shame with GW making the drill only fit larger hands. I might not personally struggle to use it, as I'm tall and my hands are not too small, but even then I just don't like the design anyway, and them making it clearly designed only for average man size hands puts a bad taste in my mouth.
    Those sprue cutters tho; I will look into those.

    • @DarcyBonoCreations
      @DarcyBonoCreations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% this ^
      My husband did say, while he could use the drill, the wings were still a little obtrusive (basically knocking against the inside of his hand).

      @@DarcyBonoCreations GW not thinking about us gals at times is my number 1 issue with them.
      Also... Who wants those little wing things on there? It looks weird, and thin bits of plastic pressing into hands ain't a good feeling.

  • @anyfield844
    @anyfield844 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The drill certainly helps GW look misogynistic again. Though guys have same issue with it, like ninjon.

    So GW sent freebies of all this tat to all the most popular utube mini painters. Unbelievable. All of the items can be bought online far cheaper and better quality. It’s just another GW money maker. Oh yes and its only a few weeks til Christmas. You can’t make it up.

    • @DarcyBonoCreations
      @DarcyBonoCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I'm not that popular on TH-cam, but I did receive these for review (I primarily just post my completed projects on Instagram). I'm not sure if you actually watched all the video, but as I said at the end of it, the tools really don't have anything going for them. It's 8 weeks til Christmas, but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to sell them as a bundle.
