    Lindy, I love watching an artist who truly loves what she is doing! This is one of my favorites of your paintings. Such a fabulous landscape to capture and what delight it gives to you and to us in your audience. Lovely reflections and colors! The split reflection is great. Aren't pastels delicious?

    As I'm watching you do the sky, I find myself thinking, oh that's perfect don't smudge it. Then you smudge and it's still good. What fun. Thank you so much.

      I often find myself saying - stop! don't do another thing or you'll wreck it. Sometimes I just don't listen to myself though! Glad you enjoyed the video.

    Thankyou so much. I am just starting and find your tips and advice great. I love your paintings. Hope I can get the hang of your techniques. I am so impatient and just want to do the paintings. The hard ones. Hehe. Will start practicing though. Especially after your tips. Thanks

    What a beautiful painting Lindy. I love watching you. Do you always paint with your backboard on that upright angle? Is your dust catcher you showed in another video, beneath it?

    • @LindyWhittonStudio
      @LindyWhittonStudio  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jennifer, I almost always paint with my easel upright and even tipped forward slightly so the dust falls and doesn't touch the painting surface. The dust catcher is beneath the paper. The only time I paint on a flat surface is when I want to film a quick demo.

    Thank you. There is something so soothing,watching someone creating something of such beauty. Do you use any type of fixatives?

    • @LindyWhittonStudio
      @LindyWhittonStudio  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't use fixatives as I work on sanded paper ( Mi Teintes TEX/Touch or Colorfix sanded) the paper holds many layers of pastel. Fixative dulls the finished painting for me. I have a video on using fixatives and storing paintings if you would like more info.

    I cannot find tape to adhere to my pastels.Any suggestions?I am from the U.S.

    • @LindyWhittonStudio
      @LindyWhittonStudio  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use masking tape...I use the delicate painters masking tape from the hardware store to attach to a backing board while painting and then I use linen hinging tape to secure before framing. A good place to buy tapes is www.tapesonline.com

      I use blue tape. You can buy it at Home Depot or Lowes in the house paint section. It's the stuff painters put around door frames, baseboards etc to keep the paint from getting on those surfaces. It is a blue color and I'm pretty sure it comes in several widths.

    The only change I might make is to vary the height and distancing of the far trees to the left of center. The ones to the right are more convincing. Otherwise, the composition is very pleasing!!

    • @LindyWhittonStudio
      @LindyWhittonStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you're right. it's often difficult for me to get it right first go when doing a demo- in the studio I come back to it after a break and then I "see" my mistakes more clearly!

      I really like your work, but I would like to ask soft pastel can draw in ordinary paper?

    • @LindyWhittonStudio
      @LindyWhittonStudio  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Soft pastel needs a little bit of texture on the paper or it will fall off. I use special rough paper or you can use any surface if you put a layer of grit on it first. See my video Underpainting with Acrylic Inks th-cam.com/video/bF8NSY86Jl8/w-d-xo.html for how to do this. Also have a video on different papers you can use th-cam.com/video/laWG3dn-SOw/w-d-xo.html

    very nice! What board is that you draw on?

    • @LindyWhittonStudio
      @LindyWhittonStudio  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use Mi Tientes sanded paper usually taped to a foamcore board but here I've taped it to hardwood board. I like the sanded paper because it will hold many layers of pastel. The foamcore backing gives a bit of "bounce" which I prefer but I'd run out this day!

    The camera need to be far far closer to the work area to capture the detail. A lot of what you're doing is being lost.
