Funny how everyone seems to equate beauty with talent... Just because someone isn't traditionally beautiful, everyone assumed she'd have no talent. When, in reality, it was the exact opposite. She has way more talent than some of the beautiful "singers" on the market today.
I can listen to Susan singing this song and never get tired of it. As it actually gives me goosebumps and that feeling never goes away when I hear her singing. This is how you know she is one of the greatest singers of our time even many years later. This audition was timeless. The judges metaphorically speaking got a real kick in the teeth as soon as Susan opened her mouth to sing. They must have been so embarrassed for judging her before she even sang. Susan is an inspiration to us all.She proved both the judges and entire audience wrong. She dared to dream a dream and that dream turned into the most beautiful reality. And I am delighted so very happy for her that now she can inspire all those to dream a dream in the hope of them coming true.even today 13 years later this audition is so timeless that she can sing better than some of the well known celebrities.Keep dreaming your dream Susan God bless you I love your singing and actually have bought some of your CDs.
Actually when you look at her dress, she put it together rather nicely, with the sash, her mother would have been proud of her, now we are all proud of her, she is known around the world, the world loves her, there is nothing pretentious about her, that's why she is loved, plus, she has got the best voice ever
Here it January 2024 & I've come back here yet again to watch this magnificent audition by Susan. Always puts a smile on my face and gets me teary eyed ❤❤❤
I am still emotional when I watched over and over again..look how people judged her in the first place...the girl rolling her eyes....gosh...I love Susan.
Simon didn't learn from this. Remember Jonathan, the large 17 year old with the operatic voice? As he came onstage with his 16 year old singing partner, Simon made a snide comment about them to one of the judges.
I love this she really showed that bunch of judges not to be so quick to write her off which they were doing by their actions just before she she started
I remember when this happened… I, and the rest of the planet, went to bed and woke up the next morning to the world of Susan Boyle… and what a dream she dreamed.
It's the irony of people doubting her the entire time... and the beauty of how she overcame everything and everyone in that room. Still gives me shudders. She knew her worth.
amazingly after becoming a millionaire she continued to remain the exact same person she was before appearing on this show. Proves money doesn't change you if you have integrity and a genuine faith. An incredible person. I wish her and her cat eternal happiness 😻
Susan was gifted with such incredible talent as well as a humble personality despite all of her fortune & fame. I admire both her talent and her humility. I believe this was a wake up call for all of us who unfairly judged her on appearance before ever hearing her amazing voice. She is a genuine treasure as not only a performer but also as a human being. Bravo Susan Boyle!
I’ve seen this so many times, and I only just now noticed Susan’s little smile at 2:17, just before she began singing. She knew she had the goods. “Buckle up, suckers.”

No matter what Susan Boyle did or did not do after this event, she forever made her mark in history with this audition, like very few others ever have. After this audition, the entertainment business were hell bent on finding the next Susan Boyle. That, to me, is her greatest legacy.
❤❤This is the ending of 2023, and i am still here watching this remarkable audition; and i will keep on watching it because it gives me HOPE, it brings tears and laughter in my face....PURE UNBELIEVABLE!!! 💯💯💯💯

I’ve always loved the look on Simon’s face with she started singing. From “This is going to be so boring” to “O.M.G.!” Almost as soon as she started singing he became one of her biggest fans ever. ❤
I will never forget the first time I saw the audition; I was in a very bad place in life and crying all the way through, as every other time I heard it that year. I was listening to it a lot, especially every time I doubted myself and my ability to take the broken pieces of my life and rebuild it from scratch. I will be eternally grateful to Susan! I cried again today as I move to my new-built life. It's never too late to start over, and there is a place under the sun even for us, the neurodivergent. We just need to keep moving forward, fall five times, and get back on our feet six times. I am 56 today and can't wait to enjoy the best that is yet to come, because i believed in my dreams and kept chasing them.
I watch this when I'm feeling up, feeling down and everywhere in between because it's so inspirational. She didn't give up on her dream and finally got the world's attention. The question is, why was the world deprived of her talent for so many years? Answer: A mistaken idea which is obvious based on not only the audience but the judges' initial reactions to her. This video should be a teaching aid used the world over for the often said, heard, and quickly forgotten lesson of "never judge a book by its cover". Like books, people are always more than their covers and it's what's inside that really matters.
To think that we still equate beauty with talent is so incredibly sad. You can tell she put on her best beautiful dress with a sash and comfortable shoes. Her special necklace. She tried her best and I was bursting with pride for how amazing she was!! I love Susan and all that she represents. God bless all of you ❤️
Still makes me cry, in 2022. has to be hands down not just the best audition but the biggest lesson to everyone. singing has nothing to do with appearance, or social status, unemployed but she had a dream, and was very brave to stand there through the giggles. I'm just so damn pleased for her. Well done Susan.
Without fail, this brings me to tears every time. I just watched her comeback performance after she recovered from a stroke. Susan Boyle is a remarkable woman, and the world is blessed that she's graced us with her talents.

Each time I feel down I watch this performance. It always reminds me that it's not about what people think but what I am capable of. Thank you Susan Boyle
Simply does not get old. Lightning in a bottle. The absolute SYNERGY of that song with those lyrics being sung passionately and with gestures by someone with that image and with that voice. One of the greatest positive bait-and-switches of all time. A true underdog story being playing out in 7 minutes real-time. Once in a lifetime performance and she nailed it with confidence. Singing for 30 years without a chance to ever perform in front of a large audience and you go out and do THAT. Remarkable.
Only a person in her situation, and with that voice, could sing "I dreamed a dream," probably one of the most depressing songs ever translated into English, and make it have the opposite meaning. That, my friends, is what it means to be truly inspirational.
I must have watched this a hundred times and still it brings me to tears. What a beautiful spirit with a phenomenal voice. Yeah for what was perceived as the underdog. You showed them. So glad for your success. You are beautiful inside and out.
Agree, they will never get a better moment on the show, or any show of that kind. I did like the way the judges were honest in their remarks, about how they'd misjudged her before the fact. I watch this when I need a little boost.
No matter how many times I view this, it still brings tears to my eyes!! Susan Boyle…beautiful voice, beautiful lady and beautiful soul! God bless her! ❤️
A beautiful performance! .... I always get emotional listening to this! ..... Very down to earth... Never judge a book by it's cover!! Thanks for posting! 🙏😃
God has gifted quite a few with magnificent voices. See: Martin Hurkens, Holland has talent. Gruffydd Wyn < Amazing. When God sings through mankind, the world recognizes His voice the instant that man opens his mouth in song.
I’ve been watching this amazing audition off and on for 15 years now. I would say in my opinion one of the best auditions of all time on this show. Bless your beautiful amazing heart Susan Boyle 💜✨💜
Hope Susan sings something lovely for Easter on the TV and brings some love and joy into this sad world ,make us forget the bad things ,Wats starvation ,cancer , just even 5 mins of our joy like she did when she sang so sweet to us all those years ago 🙏❤️💗
this video came out about a month before my dad died. he had cancer. we both would listen to this and he thought that susan boyles had a voice like an angel. when i first heard her sing, i made sure that my dad heard her sing. i'm glad that he got to hear her sing.✌
I remember my dad shortly before he died he told me about this singer that came out of nowhere I still get goosebumps when I listen to her just think what she would of missed if she had not tried
She finally got to start living her dream and got what she deserved her entire life during this audition - respect and a standing ovation. Bravo. ❤❤ The world judges everyone by what they look like - sad, but it's true.
I have watched the discovery of Susan's talent, dozens of times. It never fails to make me tear up & feel a kind of pride on behalf of her courage to share herself so bravely & beautifully. She is such a lovely human being & what a great voice.
Agreed. After Adam & Eve sinned they covered themselves and God asked, "Who told you that you were naked"? Susan didn't think about what she looked like before she appeared on stage. In subsequent interviews she brings up her embarrassment over the 'dowdy dress' & shoes saying that she wouldn't have worn them if she'd 'thought' about it before rushing off to BGT. Other people told her that 'she wasn't fit for their world', and on another level, she began to believe it. She began to replace her sense of herself with the control of the media.
@@beantrader4723 I'm really thrown by your response. I wasn't referring to Susan's appearance at all. She seems quite an amazing person & has a great voice - that's all.
I have to go back to this audition when I'm sad, or at a low state self-esteem, because it gives me (as many of you) hope, breath a warmth feeling. Plus it humbles your heart and gives you peace to what ever you are going thru against at a certain time. If someone you know is crying of sadness, pain , loneliness, etc..., trade those awful tears with joyful and happy tears; by sending them this audition.
I don't know how many times I've watched this performance. I've lost track, but I know that people can be so judgmental when it comes to looks and beauty. I remember my mother always said you can never judge a book by its cover. When I heard her sing the first time, I watched her performance live on the show, she gave me goosebumps and literally I was in tears because I was so happy that I knew she was going to go far in life with her amazing voice. Congratulations again!!!❤️👏
I never get tired of watching this and never will, especially the people in the audience, the look on their faces at the start and end of her amazing audition. Like the lady said it was a wake-up call, never a truer word spoken.
I don't know how many times I watched this and everytime its just as amazing....I love when Simon put his face his his hands with a look of amazement on his face
I cry with pride every time I listen and watch this video. Her life was dedicated to taking care of her mother, her cat and singing in the church. She has the biggest heart and even that makes me cry. I am also from the same area in Scotland and understand her unselfish and caring character. She is a very special lady with a LOT of talent. Another song I love her singing is “wild horses”. Have a listen
I`m not so keen on wild horses as I think her voice has been tamed. I loved the rawness of `I dreamed a dream`. I know Elaine Page has put her voice down as not being trained, but I love to hear a raw sound in music. It`s unique.
Funny how everyone seems to equate beauty with talent... Just because someone isn't traditionally beautiful, everyone assumed she'd have no talent. When, in reality, it was the exact opposite. She has way more talent than some of the beautiful "singers" on the market today.
Got it in one mate!

Me toooo

Agree, they will never get a better moment on the show, or any show of that kind. I did like the way the judges were honest in their remarks, about how they'd misjudged her before the fact. I watch this when I need a little boost.
Me too.
🙏😃
Still the best audition ever. The voice from an angel. What a voice 😊
perhaps the most important audition of any of these talent shows

God has gifted quite a few with magnificent voices. See: Martin Hurkens, Holland has talent. Gruffydd Wyn < Amazing.
When God sings through mankind, the world recognizes His voice the instant that man opens his mouth in song.

There has never been a more astounding or stunning audition than this!
Thankyou Susan Boyle for the beautiful gift you have given us!
Hello, how are you today, I hope you are having a wonderful day, good luck.
I’ve been watching this amazing audition off and on for 15 years now.
I would say in my opinion one of the best auditions of all time on this show.
Bless your beautiful amazing heart Susan Boyle 💜✨💜
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Wonderful, thank God, thank you for asking. Taking it in stride.
Hello, how are you today, I hope you are having a wonderful day, good luck.
@@Tommywanye 👍a wonderful day, Thank God, not at all what I expected, thanks for asking and may God continue blessing you
Hope Susan sings something lovely for Easter on the TV and brings some love and joy into this sad world ,make us forget the bad things ,Wats starvation ,cancer , just even 5 mins of our joy like she did when she sang so sweet to us all those years ago 🙏❤️💗
this video came out about a month before my dad died. he had cancer. we both would listen to this and he thought that susan boyles had a voice like an angel. when i first heard her sing, i made sure that my dad heard her sing. i'm glad that he got to hear her sing.✌
I’ve watched this dozens of times and it never gets old. I’m not even a fan of the Talent shows, but this is very special.
I am 67 years old I have never heard such amazing voice that song touches your very soul I have tears in my eyes listening to this song
Hi Carol hope you're okay?
I love this, they were so condescending but she humiliated them... thanks Susan... this still my favorite in 2022.
Also to me !!
LEGENDARY PERFORMANCE!!!!
Same here in October 2022
It’s all staged. They knew all about her before the audition.
I think they were "condescending" because of that pelvis/hip move, not because of her appearance.
Can't count how many times I have watched this Masterpiece
Never tire of this. What a voice
I can never get enough of this audition.............. she is INCREDIBLE!!!
I’ve watched this video a thousand times and I never tire of it. Susan’s superb voice, the CHEERING AUDIENCE, and ANT and DEC. Even Simon. 😀
I have watched the discovery of Susan's talent, dozens of times. It never fails to make me tear up & feel a kind of pride on behalf of her courage to share herself so bravely & beautifully. She is such a lovely human being & what a great voice.
Да , сразу видно , что непосредственный и добрейший души человек ! На таких именно людях держится ЗЕМЛЯ ! 👍😍😍😍❤❤❤👏👏👏🎤🎶🎵⚘⚘⚘

@@beantrader4723 Nothing about her appearance was intended. Adam & Eve- what?
the Best audition of all time...Susan Boyle...
I can't watch this video enough, she is singing about dreaming a dream, and we watched that dream be realized right in front of us. What a moment!!!
Hello, how are you today, I hope you are having a wonderful day, good luck.
Me too. I'm thinking I've seen it at least a dozen times. Fantastic!!
Still goosebumps and tears no matter how many times I watch this.
@Bobby Raymond las Vegas
I never get tired of watching this and never will, especially the people in the audience, the look on their faces at the start and end of her amazing audition. Like the lady said it was a wake-up call, never a truer word spoken.
I remember watching this and when she started singing my jaw dropped. Still one of the best moments to ever happen on TV.
You waited 14 years to post this. Bravo bravo
Very very TRUE..one of the most humbling moments of BGT....
Phantastisch❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@kenormsby6702 Crazy how time flies, feels like yesterday
2023 and still gives me chills ❤️
Hi Emily hope you're okay?
Same, Susan is brilliant. ❤❤❤❤❤
Same chills every time I see this...x
I’m a time traveler from 2060 and I got chills watching this in 2059
I don't know how many times I watched this and everytime its just as amazing....I love when Simon put his face his his hands with a look of amazement on his face
Never realized how beautiful this performance was when I was a kid but looking back as an adult now, my jaw always drops
Most amazing voice. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It's so beautiful.
Susan is absolutely amazing!!
I love how she proved everyone wrong!!
I wish that there were more people like
this in the world!!!!!

I cry every time I watch this and I've watched it a lot. So touching.
Hello ,how are you doing,i hope your okay??
Her voice lifted the roof!
I will never forget Susan Boyle as she was brilliant amazing singer.
Hello ,how are you doing,i hope your okay??
She took the world by storm!!!!!.., She has one of the MOST beautiful voices on the planet!
Hi Linda hope you’re okay?
@@dannyhuffman who cares about what she looks like she may look rough but her voice is amazing

Yeah, and I think its nice to not always have the stereotypical looking popstars. She really has personallity and she is gorgeous in her own way!
Seriously this audition is so inspirational. Even 14 years later in 2024 I come back to watch this beautiful moment.
I have seen this about 10+ times and this one never gets old. Top-notch she is.
The best audition ever in around the globe till date and the best voice... This audition is important in so many ways and level
craig harrison from australia comes in at a close 2nd. just a much younger version in his own right.
