As someone who understands psychology, I can say...anger is a secondary emotion, usually caused by fear or sadness. So if my bf were to snap at me, I'd probably just be like "k he's either sad or scared. Or perhaps both." I know with the listener's past, that kind of understanding is difficult, but as /this/ listener, I would probably just be like *cool*.
