- Hi,
Solo male and solo male dog traveling down route 66 from NYC to LA in a bare bones Van conversion completed with zero experience, short amount of time and little capital.
The car is a Nissan NV200 mini cargo van, used but new to me. I fitted the car with repurposed gear and minimal planning. The inspiration for my build was born from TH-cam videos, I'm proud to finally contribute my own!

All my money went to rent lol, I felt like all of my time and work went to building NYC. Also I did almost the same thing everyday for a decade, the van fixed all that and allowed me to hang out with my dog a lot haha
Showing people they don't need to spend thousands of dollars on an Instagram ready setup to get out and go camping! Much respect. I've got a lot of the same gear.

Looks pretty comfy! I believe they make a Bluetooth adapter you plug into your 12 volt DC cigarette lighter and it communicates through the station on your radio so you're allowed to Bluetooth to radio from your phone.

I'm a truck driver and as far as doing the #2 I go to a public place with a restroom and do it b4 I go to sleep at night i hardly ever need to go...but if I was out in the middle of nowhere(blm land etc.) I would think about getting one of those 5 gallon buckets pour some cat litter or trash bag and get a privacy tent and do my thang!!😉😀
Just dig a hole and go, like you're backpacking.
But I'd still have a poop bucket or something, sometimes you won't find a place open and you're in a busy area.

Al makes sense. Keep it simple. I also bought a NV200 van. Similar setup as yours I have a standard size single bed, but i got my bicycle parked where you got the cupboard. ☺
Oooooo cool! The cupboard will likely be the first time I replace when I think of something interesting to put there. I'll improve on the build one day when my current unending trip, ends.

No glam just go! I like it! I've been slowly putting together my build with a big ford E350 with the mighty yet super hungry V10 under the hood for more utility. It's running a low solar power system just to charge battery packs and run power tools on the fly but I keep a camping cot, sleeping bag, 2 coolers, and a camp stove in it just in case
That ford is like 3 times the size of my van and what you got going in the back is basically what I got now lol

@@SoulQuJo I am driving from NC to Maine next week in this beast for Thanksgiving to see my kids. Going to go and get a pallet of wood pellets to get their heating started. Won't even have to unload the things I have in it for the pallet 😎

Good film. I like your honesty and charisma. For a millennial with no practical skills you've done OK. The important thing is getting going and not being held back. The van itself is a good choice. No idea why you'd want to take a puppy on such a trip, but each to their own. Good luck!

Just a suggestion to replace that JBL speaker.. Roav bluetooth fm transmitter! No more charging your speaker plus it has 2 usbs so you can charge your stuff

A thin flexible solar panel from renology on top of your van would provide automatic power to your power station and still be stealth.
Does anyone experience excess moisture in their Nv 200? I also have one with no windows in back. Cool van, but terrible insulated in my exp. Any suggestions are more than welcome.
Hey, I use wind deflectors / rain guards on my two side windows so that I can keep them open a crack without people knowing. The airflow when both windows are open keeps most of the moisture away and prevents my car from getting too stuffy. With a little USB fan the set up is a cheaper method than the big roof vent. These are the exact ones I have but you could just search "wind deflector + your van model" on amazon or auto parts store of your choosing; amzn.to/4aplxKs
I would have a similar build with the cot, but also either a roof a/c or portable air conditioner with a vent on the side, a microwave, portable toilet. Get a $10 membership at planet fitness/you fit etc

It was a full, I squeezed a queen into the NV200 one time but it takes up the entire cargo space wall to wall.

You won't allow your dog on your bed, so his life is relegated to under the bed and on what little floor space is left. That's no way for a dog to live. Maybe at this point in your life, dogs should not be living by your "rules". You shouldn't have a dog. That's cruel.

I've seen little old ladies do no-build AND build vans they did themselves that are much better than your van - because they know how to use tools and cut boards. AND they treat their dogs like family, not like accessories when it's convenient.
Yeah it's not very good build but that particular dog lives pretty luxuriously.
