Think about it, a group of 9 members. 5 members (Tae, Jess, Tiff, Sun, Seo) are vocal line. 4 members (Yul, Yoo, Hyo, Soo) are dance line, 3 members (Seohyun, Yoona, Yuri) pioneered the bermuda traingle visual that took korea by storm during Genie era, their debut concept, their changing concept. LIKE OMG. I have been a fan since 2007 debut era, and still is now!!!!
SNSD really did that at debut, 100% live singing, the backup vocals were so soft, their energy when dancing, there will never be a group now who can compare to SNSD during ITNW era

i love snsd which is why im here but in terms of talent boa and ses have snsd beat. back then, stage presence/charisma were more important than looks. kpop groups today are held to very high standards but everything is choreographed, has to be perfect, and the artists don't have much room to express themselves on stage. when i watch old-school kpop live performances i can't peel my eyes away because they're so engaging and expressive. nowadays i can hardly distinguish kpop idols from their backup dancers. but i guess this change is what allowed kpop to reach the global appeal it was looking for

i think it’s because the standards are different these days. companies are focusing more on visuals and overall group aesthetics and concept, rather than actual talent. that’s why it’s common to see very beautiful idols turned into “rappers” because they have no real singing talent. and there’s nothing wrong with it, that’s how trends and music (especially kpop) evolve. during this time when snsd debuted the talent standards were much higher for idols because the only artists/singers who performed on music shows were solo acts who usually did ballads/trot music.
@@sun-seto111 its not entirely true. its not that the companies are focusing on that its just that the competition is waaaaay more now than it used to be so they end up picking people who are visually appealing. there's also a rise in groups without specific positions like main rapper and main vocal because most of them do have decent vocals. they're just overworked a lot because of the music shows and promotions that they do which is again more than 2nd gen. one of the stray kids members recently mentioned that they do perform with backing vocals because of how strained their voices become. more than visual aspect I think the companies are focusing on the performances which is why the choreographies are so different for 4th gen.
its inevitable for trends to change and i don't think it would make sense if even after 10 20 years, idols are dressed the same, singing the same and performing the same way.
@@tokki-xi3re You can't say tho that 4th gen groups have more schedules than these girls because they even flew halfway around the world and back just to meet all of their schedules. They barely slept and they performed live every single time. This choreography is also very difficult. They also had to compete with other groups. Yes, there are more groups now but back then there were only a few girl groups so the competition was big among the girl groups that were active at the time. It's unfair to say that 4th gens don't sing live because they're overworked because these people were overworked too. They even had terrible variety shows that they needed to attend which was probably more draining mentally compared to the current shows we have. If companies are really focusing on performances, they should focus on training their talents to sing live. Not just creating difficult choreographies. TBH, some are not even that difficult since they're now focusing on what would make a good Tiktok challenge instead of what it would look like when performed in front of a live audience.
I don't know why but when I see this live having microphone on their one hand and doing high note with this difficult steps I felt goosebumps all over. My god, how could rookie fan say that SNSD is flop?! Fuck them all. SNSD will always be a legendary group. When will your faves? May be, after SNSD disbanded.

GG is a legend and this song is evergreen. I hope I will live long to watch them on immortal song and reminisce the good old days as a whole group of 9 members. I heard that SM did pressure some SNSD members to do the PS, and I wasn't surprised because it's SM, they're known for wanting idols to have perfect faces.
Everyone be talking about how incredible their performance is, or how good SNSD are/were, or the impact they made and that no group will ever be like them, and while all that is true, no one is commenting on a major thing here. Look at how fluid their changes in holding the mic from one hand to the other are. You hardly even notice that they change the hands holding the mic because of how fluid they dance the choreography, and that all 9 members do it in sync too. The choreography is incredible. Performing with those mics can't be easy, and they make it look as easy as breathing. Just to give an understanding of how clean they're mic swapping is, look at 1:44 when Hyoyeon hands her mic off right before her dance break then gets it back right after.

i love this performance because the light makeup and raw vocals make me feel like i'm actually watching real people perform. there's no artifice, no trying to be flashy to distract from imperfections. their performance just feels so real and energetic and joyful. i wish more kpop was like this

I can't help but be amazed by this performance. No pre-recorded vocals, stable voices, energetic dance routines and to top it off, they FRICKING HARMONIZED. Having a stable voice is a huge feat itself but to hit HIGH NOTES AND HARMONIZE WHILE DANCING? 3rd Gen groups could never. One comeback is all it takes to hit Korea and the whole world by storm again.

소녀시대 데뷔때가 딱 소몰이창법에서 아이돌로 넘어오는 시기였죠 저당시 씨야 sg워너비 등 실력 좋은가수들이 판쳤던 시기+아이돌 이미지 때문에....
그때 아이돌 이미지가 그랬어요 노래 못하니까 얼굴+춤으로 떼우는 애들이라는 인식 (근데 지금와서 당시 영상들 보면 그때 아이돌도 라이브 꽤 잘함) 아이돌은 노래 못한다는 인식을 소녀시대, 특히 태연이 깼죠
딱 저 당시에는 발라드 가수들도 안무하면서 노래 부르던 시대라 그래여 ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
저때 바로 전이 버즈, SG워너비, 이수영, 휘성, 거미...이런 사람들이 장악했던 시대라 그래요ㅋㅋㅋ제 기억에 원걸 텔미랑 빅뱅 거짓말로 아이돌 시장이 다시 열리고 아이돌 보는 잣대가 당시 엄했던 듯
소시는 보컬로 많이 안까였어요. 오히려 실력돌이라는 신조어가 만들어질 정도였죠. 억까들이 메인 보컬이 아닌 윤아정도 깠는데 정작 윤아도 춤 노래 못하는 편은 아니었고. 태연은 저때부터 워낙 잘해서 아이돌이라기 보단 가수로 인정받았었죠. 솔로곡이 대박나기도 했고.

i think it’s because the standards are different these days. companies are focusing more on visuals and overall group aesthetics and concept, rather than actual talent. that’s why it’s common to see very beautiful idols turned into “rappers” because they have no real singing talent. and there’s nothing wrong with it, that’s how trends and music (especially kpop) evolve. during this time when snsd debuted the talent standards were much higher for idols because the only artists/singers who performed on music shows were solo acts who usually did ballads/trot music.
@@sun-seto111 its not entirely true. its not that the companies are focusing on that its just that the competition is waaaaay more now than it used to be so they end up picking people who are visually appealing. there's also a rise in groups without specific positions like main rapper and main vocal because most of them do have decent vocals. they're just overworked a lot because of the music shows and promotions that they do which is again more than 2nd gen. one of the stray kids members recently mentioned that they do perform with backing vocals because of how strained their voices become.
more than visual aspect I think the companies are focusing on the performances which is why the choreographies are so different for 4th gen.
its inevitable for trends to change and i don't think it would make sense if even after 10 20 years, idols are dressed the same, singing the same and performing the same way.
@@tokki-xi3re You can't say tho that 4th gen groups have more schedules than these girls because they even flew halfway around the world and back just to meet all of their schedules. They barely slept and they performed live every single time. This choreography is also very difficult. They also had to compete with other groups. Yes, there are more groups now but back then there were only a few girl groups so the competition was big among the girl groups that were active at the time. It's unfair to say that 4th gens don't sing live because they're overworked because these people were overworked too. They even had terrible variety shows that they needed to attend which was probably more draining mentally compared to the current shows we have.
If companies are really focusing on performances, they should focus on training their talents to sing live. Not just creating difficult choreographies. TBH, some are not even that difficult since they're now focusing on what would make a good Tiktok challenge instead of what it would look like when performed in front of a live audience.

이정도실력 요즘 없어요. 정확히 말하면 저 정도 실력인지 알 수가 없어요. 곡 시작부터 끝까지 에이알까는게 기본이 된 시대다 보니 순수한 육성 라이브를 들어본적이 없음.
데뷔 무대는 아닙니다. 데뷔는 sbs 인기가요 립싱크로 했고, 최초 라이브는 KBS 뮤직뱅크에서 했어요. 이후에 라이브 분위기가 생기면서 다른가수들도 거의다 라이브 부름.

멤버들이 다 마른이유를 알겠네,,, 물론 다이어트도 하겠지만 무대를 위해서 저 춤이랑 노래 같이 하면서 연습 수없이 하면 살이 안빠질수가 없겠다,,
Everyone be talking about how incredible their performance is, or how good SNSD are/were, or the impact they made and that no group will ever be like them, and while all that is true, no one is commenting on a major thing here. Look at how fluid their changes in holding the mic from one hand to the other are. You hardly even notice that they change the hands holding the mic because of how fluid they dance the choreography, and that all 9 members do it in sync too. The choreography is incredible. Performing with those mics can't be easy, and they make it look as easy as breathing.
Just to give an understanding of how clean they're mic swapping is, look at 1:44 when Hyoyeon hands her mic off right before her dance break then gets it back right after.

i love this performance because the light makeup and raw vocals make me feel like i'm actually watching real people perform. there's no artifice, no trying to be flashy to distract from imperfections. their performance just feels so real and energetic and joyful. i wish more kpop was like this
What's amazing is that even though their debut song is considered one of the best, they actually didn't break out until they did gee in 2009.
Back then, it wasn't even about which girl group was at the top and charting the most.. it was about girl groups trying to find a place in the industry. And SNSD rose above it all and proved that girl groups did have a spot. Legends never die... #GG4EVA

I can't help but be amazed by this performance. No pre-recorded vocals, stable voices, energetic dance routines and to top it off, they FRICKING HARMONIZED. Having a stable voice is a huge feat itself but to hit HIGH NOTES AND HARMONIZE WHILE DANCING? 3rd Gen groups could never. One comeback is all it takes to hit Korea and the whole world by storm again.
