Chickens will start laying their eggs at about 16 to 18 weeks of age, depending on the chicken breed. I have experienced a slow down in egg production about a month after our first freeze, but it warmed back up in our area. I am not sure what area of the country you are in, so that will probably depend on the weather factors in your area. When It is really cold outside, I still may get 1 or 2 eggs.
