  • Quick 'n' dirty video time! Doing a little experimenting with the Erica Synths Syntrx as an audio processor. (Our stomachs process food, and you know what the end result of THAT is) I ran a Roland SPD-8 drum pad (powered by an Arturia Keystep) to a Syntrx line input, adding a bit of Echoplex before the sound hits the speakers.
While in the Syntrx, the drum signal is ring modulated by VCO 2. This is synced to VCO 1, so adjusting the frequency of either of those VCOs varies the clanginess . Sample and hold modulates VOC 2 and the filter cutoff frequency. The joystick controls filter cutoff frequency and volume. Reverb is added to taste. Varying the sample and hold and VCO 2 frequencies can produce drastic changes to the sound.
After a short while, the straight drum sound leaves, and we hear just the Syntrx. The end result is pretty darn nasty. Sweet!
Maybe I'll do a more proper video while exploring this setup in the near future. I've been pretty slack about posting here in the past year or so. I need to get on the stick!

This sounds SO cool! I love your experimentation. Curious to hear more of what you do.
