I wonder why they didn't show one of the most wonderful miracle of the desert. Once in a while (years) its rain in the south of Atacama and then the desert explode in kilometers of pink ,yellow ,white and blue carpets of añañucas the tiny flowers that only grow in Atacama. Tourists from all over the world come to see this miracle. I had the blessing to see it twice 💐

The answer for water scarcity is easy. Why not build a salination plant to turn sea water into a consumable one? Or the other way around, why won't industrialist take this as a turning point to return natural glacier water to people instead and use the processed water if ever they build a salination plant for industrial purposes? Sometimes rainfall occurs due to the phenomenon called Elnino. It brings unusual rainfall in Atacama desert .
