there is a side of philosophy that says God used all his power to create the universe. he has none left except omnipresence and being eternal. having said that I'm not sure if they ever say Above-All-Others is all powerfull. Not in this story, in all stories. Maybe we ASSUMED Above-All-Others to be all powerfull. Maybe Above-All-Others is a title, a form of respect. He created the first universe therefore he is litterally above the rest, he came first maybe he is like the King in chess, the king is weak, the king needs protection the king is so weak, you dont have to kill him, corner him and its game over. Another thing is that Thanos is overwhelmed by the power, by being everywhere, in everything. I just read the whole "Thanos: the infinity..." thing, revelation, siblings etc. and its pretty cool, very quotable. Thanos is one bad Motherf. reading his inner musings was very cool. He looks Amazing, the battles are impressive and the BALLS, the huge Brass Balls when he stands before Above-All-Others and basically spits in his mouth its fucking dope.

I'm actually mad about this. The purpose of the One Above All is to represent the best of the best in Marvel. Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby...and Stan Lee. The reason he was at a power that no one could reach was because no matter how powerful a character became, the founders are better. To have the hype of Thanos get to a point where he can beat what is now a memory of the fallen isn't just bullshit...it's disrespectful. Shame on you Marvel.
There is an interesting webcomic named Jack. In that, the devil is depicted as the artist, writing the story. Just to clarify to anyone whose confused Thanos never actually absorbed the One Above All he absorbed the avatar which is called Above All Others, the one above all isn’t the same entity portrayed here.
Nice to see somebody else recognize this. Most people seem to just think that it was nerfing TOAA and not realizing that the rest of the Marvel editorial and writing staff would never let Jim Starlin wank Thanos so bad that he beat the representation of the writers themselves.
There is a character in the DC universe comics called darksead and he can't be defeated by anyone because he uses a avatar he created that has certain weak spots he can be taken out but it doesn't matter because he is not the main darksead that is outside the entire multiverse!!!
Yeah they jumped the shark with this story. The one above created all that is existing beyond time an space. It would not have to confront Thanos in his current state, it could have destroyed him any moment of his timeline. Even in the realm of comics, Thanos being able to do this is ridiculous

How many times is Marvel going to give us this scenario of "Thanos gets amazing power, only to not really want it in the end", Its been done several times before and each time they had to up the stakes and create some broken ass item just for him to be able to do it. Now he's essentially done the maximum and even then 6-7 years from now they'll find a way to wank fest him again.
In my personal opinion this story is just bad, I feel like Jim starlin has been recycling the same story he's done over 20 year's ago, Thanos gets absolute power defeats everyone and then somehow loses because of his "subconsciousness" it's old and to me it really takes away from Thanos, it's like he develops thanos then instantly takes it back in the next storyline, Thanos taking TOAA? hell no. Also TOAA is still the Omnipotent being in Marvel according to Al Ewing, He recently said something like this on Twitter, I'm just glad this is Starlin' last thanos story tbh.
I 100% agree with you. It's fine to compete for the infinity gauntlet because everybody has a shot. But putting something this stupid on print just to jerk Thanos off again but have him give up power because he's lonely is just bad writing. Also, TOAA or even TLT should be able to one shot any threat that came their way. Heck Eternity definitely should be able to cast Thanos out.
Because Thanos does have that desire to lose. Thanos isn't evil like Magus he actually has moments of self doubt and uncertainty. I think the One Above All knew this and decided to let Trump have a taste of true power to see how he would handle it and once he had it he would be less likely to seek it out again because he understands the massive responsibility he would have to undertake to rule over everything and won't lust for it again. So its basically "Walk a mile in my shoes and then tell me about it"
@@kappadarwin9476 That's sounds cool and all but the problem is we've seen that development from Thanos before and I mean a lot, it's like his character just takes one step forward two steps back.

I guess that the key. Omnipotent. And not Omnipresent. He said the time travels rules follow. So I guess that why future Thanos doesn't play with the past.
This story was epic, I also liked the exploration of the idea of omnipotence and how it contradicts itself. It makes no logical sense to us, because its beyond our realm of comprehension. 12:24 If the One Above All was limited by its own imagination, then it'd be pretty fascinating what Thanos could do if, he broke free of those limitations.
I kinda don't like stories where a supposedly supreme being is limited by concepts etc. It's like applying our logical limitations to a being that has none. This thanos story is decent though.
@@nobodyknowsforsure I agree, thats the reason why omnipotence doesnt work. You are either all powerfull without any limitations or not... nothing in between.

With the way some people are writing Thanos he might as well be the strongest being ever created. Hell next thing we know Thanos is gonna jump out of a comic book and kill all of us
Thanos even being a potential threat to the One Above All is completely shark-jumping and ridiculous. The One Above All shouldn't be "in the hierarchy of power". The One Above All is a concept.
Imagine having the power to defeat TOAA but still needing his power to become all powerful LUL. This story was so much nonsense. Its ending was also so weak.
It’s because it’s bad. The Presence I can accept because he's just an aspect of the highest being of dc, so I’m fine with loopholes like what happened in Lucifer. But this is just Thanos wank
Teo Dell' Orcio I know, the presence I can get but TOAA is the representation of the writer, NOTHING SHOULD DEFEAT THE WRITER, this story was so poorly written bc it just makes Thanos capable of doing anything and that’s not true
I O even the presence I would accept it only under specific circumstances. People like to downplay the presence but I always understood it as TOAA is Marvel's God, The Presence is an avatar of DC's god, like the overmonitor( the original overmonitor not the new one who is basically just the regular monitor) the source, the voice, the hand, the great evil beast etc. But yeah I hate it when good characters are ruined by character wank, I’m not particularly attached to Thanos but these constant “Thanos kills every entity in marvel” stories ruin him for me
The moment when Rob said that Thanos absorbed the One Above All I immediately paused and lost interest in that story. Like seriously? If that's the case then let Thanos be the One Above All if he can do these things. Jeez! I hate these kind of storylines. From the name itself TOAA, God I guess Josh is one hell pf a Thanos fanatic. Dont get me wrong I don't hate Thanos so don't come for me thanos fans. ✌️ But the writing is a meh for me.
This is just the result of the MCU. Thanos is the most powerful villain in the MCU. And Marvel knows they have way more MCU fans than Marvel Comics fans. So they’re gonna keep putting Thanos in stories where he’s absurdly powerful until the next MCU big bad comes along. Then that guy is gonna be the one swallowing The One Above All. The MCU has made it super difficult to care about the future of the comics, because the “Thanos Binge” they’ve been on recently just proves that they’re only gonna tell stories related to the movies.
@@JohnnyROCK65 There are more MCU fans because the comic writing got so bad that comic fans walked away. It's why comic book stores are all struggling like hell right now. If it weren't for japanese manga of all things they'd all have closed their doors by now.
i dont think the MCU affect the comic much or even at all with this one rather than its simply just a bad writing. And the reason is new stories will always take over the old ones (in the same plat form like comics/manga or movie/song etc). Just like how the younger generation have a better taste of music and dont like the old ones, nowadays people like the new generation stories (manga or comics), and this will also happen to them when new comics coming out and they forget the good comics that exists right now. So anyway, i dont think that all the writing in this one is bad is cuz of MCU influence, its just the author is a thanos fanatic like @rcene said.
one more thing to add to that if the 2 platform actually affect each other in this way, theres no reason for them to make thanos the final boss because itll just make people think he actually is and not expecting anything else from the movies. What you actually want should(shoulve have) be a new stronger villain that you know exists so you expect something for the movies.
It's still hilarious that people say TOAA isn't omnipotent because Starlin threw a tantrum and wrote this story which doesn't fit into continuity anywhere. This story is just some more Thanos material to read and it doesn't effect continuity at all. Heck, Marvel: The End is way more canon than this. I don't care who wants to admit it. The events are in the 616 Nova Corp files, the events are mentioned in other canon storylines and it's listed on all out Marvel's site that it took place in the 616 universe.
yeah. can definitely say that as cool as this story is i think they cheapened the idea of the tribunal and one above all in order to pull it off, to many plot holes. i dont mean to sound like im just being an ass about it but... you know thinking about it i think it also dose kind of disservice to thanos as well, "So my characters name is thanos, and hes stronger than everyone, because he has mguffin #28374 and he can beat all the cosmic entity's, and the living tribunal, and the one above all and no one can stop him because hes my character and hes cool!"
Since the TOAA is a "being" outside time and space wouldn't that mean that he was always there and always being absorbed? And then that would mean TOAAThanos would always exist and always be defeated. So they would exist simultaneously but technically be the same and not exist at all. Not to mention that it breaks the hierarchy, and that TOAA is now no longer a representation of the writers but is just another cosmic entity that can be defeated by some item.
This story always referred TOAA as *"Above All Others"* and TOAA was never referred or called as *"Above All Others"* in literally every other stories or comics he was in, except for Jim Starlin Infinity saga comic like this story for example. so there might not be the same entity, while Above All Others has his limits to the Regulator, while the True All-Powerful Omnipotent TOAA who was never called or referred as *"Above All Others"* in the first place, he was always been referred as the *"One Above All"* except in this whole storyline which is only *"Above All Others"* not the *"One Above All"* so yeah...
@Hiko Seijuro except in this whole nonsense storyline, LT is literally just referring him as "Above All Others" if he's truly TOAA then why is the LT just calling him as Above All Others, because TOAA was literally never called as "Above All Others" in other comic storyline he was in, except Jim Starlin's whole Infinity saga story, like i said.
What nobody seems to be noticing is that when the One Above All spoke to the Living Tribunal in Infinity Conflict he said "the reality you oversee" and "it is not YOUR reality alone". Plus on the next panel he says "YOUR reality's regulator", so the being there was the Living Tribunal of that specific universe. This means Starland has changed the nature of the Living Tribunal and is saying there's one in every universe. So the one that shows up here would be the multiversal Tribunal. Also, even if we somehow buy that the "limitations" on the One Above All for some reason mean that Thanos no longer has control over the realm of death even though he absorbed Mistress Death, all he has to do is tell himself before ascending to unbanish his brother and I assume he could welcome Adam Warlock too
Yeah, if I recall correctly, it was decided by fans and other writers together that the entity portrayed here was Above-All-Others, who is just an avatar and not actually anywhere close to the same level as The One-Above-All itself.
Ya know people complain Thanos was underpowered in the MCU, but if he had the ability to absorb cosmic beings it would make for a more boring story than the one we got. Imagine Thanos just showing up like “got all the stones, killed everyone and SNAP, I’m also now death and the living tribunal, and God.” These stories are very interesting concepts, but at the same time it’s a bit boring when one purple dude has enough strength to defeat and absorb these insanely powerful cosmic beings. That’s just me, I still enjoy listening to these!
The idea of Thanos defeating The One Above All is equivalent to like a kid saying there's this rule you can't break.. unless you do. Like, what's the point of this ultimate be-all end-all benevolent force in the Marvel universe - if it's not actually the ultimate be-all end-all.
It's not, Thanos defeated the Above All Others not TOAA, Above All Others is just an aspect of TOAA just like the One Below All is another aspect of TOAA, Above All Others is only omnipotent within a well functioning system whereas TOAA's omnipotence is absolute and boundless.
The one above all... Is showing that anything is possible through the power of the one above all... Thus transmitting cosmic energies into one body, becoming one with above all in all respects, changing the character into the embodiment of love, truth, peace, freedom and justice.

I think THANOS real mc on marvel universe

For LT, that was TOAA.
GoJiRa Dude it was toaa
GoJiRa Dude even in the house of ideas they called him the one above all others
GoJiRa Dude and even of the writter said that was toaa

Imagine Thanos just showing up like “got all the stones, killed everyone and SNAP, I’m also now death and the living tribunal, and God.”
These stories are very interesting concepts, but at the same time it’s a bit boring when one purple dude has enough strength to defeat and absorb these insanely powerful cosmic beings.
These writers have to quit messing with Thanos. I can't get into these Thanos stories. He's always losing because he slips. Thanos is literally the end of Marvel. That's why at the end, there is just going to be him.

You doing cliff hangers like this really
The One Above All and Above All Others are not actually the same thing. The One Above all is the actual writer/s.
His only limits (since he's the embodiment of the writers) Is that it had to be a good story
Doctor Proteus toaa does not have avatars that was toaa
They are the same thing.
TOAA has been called AAO before.
False news
CLIFFHANGERRRRRRRRRSSSS!!!
Lol. Great video, Rob. Take care.
Sometimes I just think who created cliffhangers because they don’t deserve life
Great vid
This writings attempting to be so smart its not. The very definition of Omnipotence is knowledge of all. If Thanos is everything then anyone who sees you Thanos sees you. A bug sees U and he would see. These stories 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
It's like Jim doesn't understand what omnipotence means
Thanos: I just defeated the one above all
Me: Here, have a cookie
Beyond Omega Level: Mazahs
Beyond Omega Level: Resurrection Man
Rob I love the channel you and comicstorian
Marvel should get Starlin back to do a “Thanos vs Oblivion” series.
Interesting suggestion
Nooo
Hell no
Lol thanos harnesses the full power of the Super Mario Odyssey cap and becomes EVERYTHING.
This isn't even entertaining anymore. This is old.
go watch something else buddy! no one is keeping you here.
@@tiltedmalzahar7006 no, I thought this was gonna be interesting but no it turned out to be the same Thanos achieves ridiculous amounts of power. At some point this has to stop. It's not interesting anymore.
Justin White I agree. It’s literally the only thing the character does
@@tiltedmalzahar7006 it's a universally disliked arc which isn't even Canon anymore as confirmed by other writers that AAO/TOAA is still omnipotent. Jim Starlin jumped the shark on this one.
You are the best at this
Im usually with you Rob, but i cant be sold on this one. I would even accept TOAA saying to himself, i'm bored or tired of this role and the 1st entity who has proven to challenge me, i'll relinquish it all.
No you should say to yourself that your stupid and lack logic Thanos defeated the Above All Others not TOAA, Above All Others is just an aspect of TOAA just like the One Below All is another aspect of TOAA, Above All Others is only omnipotent within a well functioning system whereas TOAA's omnipotence is absolute and boundless.
03:56 Looks like a younger version of the 1st Death on Supernatural

3)The Mother of Existence
4)Kang the Conqueror
5)Mogo the Living Planet

8)Blue Beetle(Jaime Reyes)
9)Solomon Grundy
10)Etrigan

12)The Young Avengers
13)Judge Death

15)The Mask
16)Hawkman & Hawkgirl
17)the Mandarin
18)Steel
19)The Eradicator
20)Cyborg Superman
21)Reptil
22)the Doom Patrol
23)The Key(DC)
24)Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew)
25)Spider-Woman (Julia Carpenter)
26)Crimson Dynamo (Valetin Shatalov)
What If scenarios:
Juggernaut becomes Doomsday
Darkseid gets a Cosmic Cube
27) Vash The Stampede
the one above all ''Hey Thanos man I don't like what you are doing to my multyverse, but also keep going I'm not gonna stop you this shit is getting interesting''
TOAA - "Living Tribunal, I want you to stop Thanos from destroying the Multiverse."
TOAA- "Thanos I am not going to stop you from destroying the Multiverse."
The writer is a hack!
I like to think the one above all COULD have just made him disappear, he just doesnt want to compromise the integrity of the multiverse
Compromise the integrity of the multiverse!!?? TOAA told the Living Tribunal to take care of Thanos, so that Thanos would not destroy the whole multiverse. Then just sits back and says, I will not do anything about it!!? This is just stupid writing from a guy that loves his character over every other. Jim Stirling is a hack.
@@cainabel6356 No your STUPID Thanos defeated the Above All Others not TOAA, Above All Others is just an aspect of TOAA just like the One Below All is another aspect of TOAA, Above All Others is only omnipotent within a well functioning system whereas TOAA's omnipotence is absolute and boundless.
Robert Jefferson enough 😂😂 you’re killing me with the cliffhangers
"the Brothers" from the Amalgam Universe comes in then...
*Problem Solved*
Not canon, also not as powerful as the real One Above All. The actual One Above All is supposed to be the writer/s of the comic.
@@LordProteus bruh...it was a joke.
@@LordProteus The Real One Above All?
@@LordProteus It's canon. The entire Infinity run is canon. Marvel has confirmed it. Even Rob has confirmed it.
Doctor Proteus just accept the fact that toaa isnt so powerful anymore
You sir are evol but I still love your channel. Damn cliff hangers
Thanos is one of my favourite villains of all time and as interesting and cool a concept this story is, it’s too far fetched even for a comic book. The One Above All is effectively god, the creator of all. So no matter how powerful Thanos becomes, he should just be but a speck in TOAA’s eye.
Disney just wanted to spit directly on Stan Lee's grave is all.
When the cliffhanger hits harder than me pressing the subscribe button and turning on all notifications.
As much of a powerhouse of a villain Thanos is taking on powerful beings like Galctus and such,I don't ever think he should EVER beat TOAA. Not even in a Thanos comic book where he's super op. Hell,no marvel character should beat TOAA in fact.
Him beating the one above all was complete bullshit and should have never happened
I don’t like “the concept” of the one above all in this story
jim sterling: Behold! thanos becomes omnipotent with a magic macguffin!
teacher: jim, this is the 7th story in a row that you've done omnipotent thanos
next thing is that thanos absorbs marvel and real life itself
@@Gettinoverbarrie Ikr it getting ridiculous now
In my head i call future thanos. InfiniThanos
I have never read this, but from what I have seen so far, the ONLY thing that would make this story even remotely cool would be that TOAA was using Thanos all along. If TOAA could no longer bear being everything with no hope for any change in his own state, then he set Thanos in motion to usurp him and put him out of his eternal misery (even if only for a Planck second), which would explain how easily Thanos steamrolled beings that should have flattened him (and left the McGuffin unprotected and easily found). I highly doubt it would be some interesting premise like this, but one can dream....
Thanos, the most badass simp ever written.
Yerrrr
Likely Living Tribunal in previous book was a universal one and one in this book is the multiversial one.
He first absorbed a universal aspect of the Living Tribunal and then the Multiversal or the true form Living Tribunal.
Beyond Omega Level: Magus
Beyond Omega Level: Impossible Man
Beyond Omega Level: Deweller-in-Darkness
Beyond Omega Level: Black Bolt
