    Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.

    That young lady is in love to put up with all the mayhem so far on the mighty Mississippi River. Don't ever let her go young man, and always take very good care of her. I'm 69 years old, and wished I had met a loving adventurous young lady like, she's very special.

    Awesome trip!! I’ve wanted to do this exact adventure for quite some time.. I would get out of class at LSU and watch the barges and boats go by- just relishing the moment and the slow trickle of the mighty river. It’s amazing how large and powerful the river is down here versus its calm and tranquil beginnings. Thanks for posting!

      You dont see them as often anymore, but, back in my more adventurous days I used to wear what were called "flats booties" They were sold in fly fishing catalogs and were for wading saltwater flats. They were 3 -5 mm open cell neoprene over-the-ankle boots with a good rubber sole. Their only drawback was they were really hard to put on and tak off when they were wet.

    Went Lake Itasca National Park in 1969 with a bunch of kids from LHFC in Elgin IL, Great Park, Great fishing camping & canoeing, beautiful country! I spent more a few minutes reading the sign stating this was the Great Mississippi River started! Being from Illinois even as kid I knew something about Rivers! Even today it's kinda hard wrapping your mind around the biggest River in the US stating from the of that lake flowing through the grass & wildrice at that in of the lake! I mean it's not like it's the Lake Michigan? Wasn't even that large of a Lake! But it a very cool area for a kid from Bridgeport Illinois!

      Yes it does and did you know!!! Pine sap is a natural antiseptic with antibacterial properties. Survivalists put these qualities to good use by utilizing sap to help seal wounds in the wild. They use sap oozing from damaged coniferous trees or melt down hardened globs of pitch or resin to create a medical superglue.

      @@RatCatCrew Entry 37 - Kawishiwi Lake. Spend the night before in the campground on Sawbill Lake. Work your way through the Lady Lakes Chain. Head north out of Kawishiwi Lake through Square, Kawasachong, and Townline Lakes to Polly Lake( Your first Lady). (You will pass through the eastern-most reaches of the Pagami Creek Fire.) . Turn east out of Polly to find the Phoebe River and more of the Ladies (Hazel, Phoebe, and Grace. Knight Lake kind of slips in there.) . Pick Phoebe or Grace to spend the night on. Head over to Beth or Alton Lakes for your last night. Tackle Alton earlier in the day to avoid the wind. Head out to Sawbill when you are ready. This route has beautiful river paddling. Be prepared for beaver dam pullovers. If water is moving, there are beautiful waterfalls.

    • @RatCatCrew
      @RatCatCrew  ปีที่แล้ว

      True, we were taking a pretty big risk walking around barefoot. The river is still pretty clean up there though all it takes is that one piece of glass. We ask people as much as we can to help keep it that clean. It was still risky climbing over fallen logs barefoot, I definitely scuffed up my feet a bit

That canoe was probably less than $200 when he bought it and it's worth about a thousand today. There is nothing in that Creek at that speed that will poke a hole in that canoe if it's a Coleman? Everybody thinks the rear of the canoe is the steering guy? But the front if they know what they're doing they can control the front way better than the guy in the back I have canoed at least two or three thousand miles a team that works together and knows what to do it's called teamwork they adjust their paddling you adjust your paddling and it's amazing how fast you can make that canoe react whether be back pedaling reach paddling or indoor swirling. But two people that work together for a long time will figure this out me and my cousin we never have to say a word as long as we know where our destination is I hope I'm not getting irritating it's an interesting video I like it so far

      @@RatCatCrew The inside of my canoe,, set up for extended expedition,, like what you are doing, I have about 60 D-rings on the inside surfaces. Takes minutes to tie everything in. But,,, usually, made simple,, I have a full splash cover with integrated skirts for bow and stern paddlers. The reason for the cover and skirts is I am nuts,, I like a bit of white water. You definitely get wet,, you definitely get to swim occasionally. The only normal things I have lost are water bottles for the day sitting at my feet. Ohh,, and glasses. I have two pair at the bottom of the Grand Canyon somewhere. Oh, one other thing I noted,, in the video,, first day though,, I attach a 25 foot dock line, to bow and stern each,,, for,, towing over shallows,, dog walking the canoe. I'm lazy,, I hate bending over to grab the canoe.
