    Nice little touch of symbolism I just noticed. At the beginning he's looking at three swords, two wooden, one steel.
    Then he fights three men, two cowards, one brave.

    3:30 he can pretend to be honorable all he wants but we all know fighting against an expert spear wielder with a sword is a pain the ass

      You see he refused the coin, implying he wanted to fight for the sake of it not for money. But fighting against certain death is not fun, that's why he refused to fight against a spear.

Everything is top-notch: the fight choreography, the camerawork, the acting, the story, the music, the cinematography, even the selected quotes. I know it's a fictionalised version of Fiore, but I really see him come to life here

    • @greywolf7206
      @greywolf7206 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      nah, not really. As allan points out in his channel, you can grab a Regenyei for like, 50 extra bucks or so, and they have far better quality than Hanwei's half assed chinese crap.

    • @rebjr5844
      @rebjr5844 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      NightFury_BR I got a blunt and sharp Tinker in 2010 for around $200 American as a promotion. That was a good deal, but even now looking for a Regenyei, I see them at least $100 more than the Tinker. Maybe quality has dropped since 2010 on the Hanwei, but both of mine are good steel, light, quick, and responsive. The sharp cuts like a monster and the blunt has done everything I've asked of it in sparring.
      This is my experience, but perhaps others have not been so lucky.

    • @JunKishibe
      @JunKishibe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That particular specimen was, in fact, not a very well-made sword intended for sparring. It had some serious construction issues due to craftmanship mistakes that made it particularly weak and prone to cracking. Every piece of metal has its breaking point, but if you accidentally overheat the hot spots for then quenching them you know it's going to be more fragile than usual.
      If none of that happened to your Hanwei TP, lucky you, just watch out for the moment when the breaking actually happens.

      It _did_ break spontaneously during a take. _The Sword's Path_ released that clip to talk about the breakage of that sword some time ago. You can tell by the actors' reactions that it wasn't planned, but they fit the scene in quite well, anyhow. :)

    Most outstanding, for what seamless refinement of swordplay along with the wonderful perfection of all the other elements that were poured into it (the location, camerawork, music, fashion, basic story & swordfighting techniques!). Amazing, & superbly rendered! Would love to train with you guys someday, in every style that you are extremely proficient in (my preference would be as a 16th-17th century Scots Highlander, dressed in a traditional Clan kilt of that era all while wielding a Gaelic Broadsword, taking on a quintessentially garbed & armed German Landsknecht Doppelsoldner from about 1500!). Very inspirational!

    Those were some hard blows. The sword's path is not pulling any punches. At 2:46 Rafal's swing was stopped dead in its tracks. No wonder the tinker pearce got shattered.

    Это одна из самых достойных постановочных сцен средневекового боя с применением холодного оружия. Побольше бы деталей в костюмах и актерского мастерства в мимике, но это конечно мелочи. Очень достойно!

    Congratulations on a simply amazing video. I love how much of a story you've managed to tell in such a short time, together with a very compelling and still realistic coreography. Kind of reminds me of some of the best fight scenes from Asian cinema, but with that HEMA take on it. Love it!

    3:05 they cut a scene because the spear got through. Don't mess with the spear, it was the main weapon used in medieval times and 90% hands down beats the sword.

      It grazed his waist but didn't hurt him since he wore a thick Gambeson. Fiore is lucky that the spearman is a pussy.
