This was legit one of the nost insane things I've ever witnessed. Serious roller coaster ride. And also scary to know how easy it is to fake a "sealed" boxed toy like this.
I don't know why I am crying, I had that as a 5 year old boy. My Mom and my Aunts and Uncles bought that for me. I was told this was the only gift I was getting. The art, the pieces I can remember laying on the floor slowly putting it together shaking cause I was so Excited. Glad my Mom put on the stickers for me. Ahhh that Red back print !!! Thank you for showing this!
Yeah, you are basically paying for the sealing tape to be in mint condition. Now if you are gonna open it so you are guaranteed an absolute mint condition toy then maybe I could understand it.
😮wow.. I was soo looking forward to seeing the castle come out of that box just how it looked in the 80’s. But a part of me was like.. what it’s a frickin re-seal 😩😩
I still remember opening mine from when I was a kid. It was either Christmas 82 or 83. I love to be able to do something like that now a days. Maybe when I'm rich!!!??
Same here!!!....Xmas morning of 83 i think ....me and my brother woke up to Masters of the Universe Castle Grayskull and the wave of first figures! I never forgot that day!
Unreal what people will do .. I’ve been rebuilding my collection and just got a carded Kobra Kahn and boxed road ripper. Also got Scare Glow for Christmas
FYI, you don't have to cut the glue to open it. Mattel used an industrial hot glue (EVA), which is higher temp than your normal home hot glue (LDPE). You can heat up the box and the glue will resoften. Initially it will pull open with the glue looking like taffty. But heat it a little more and it will just come open easily. It requires the glue to hit a temp around 350F uniformly. Home hot glue melts around 250F. The problem is after the box is open and you do what you need, you have to heat it again to reseal it. And you have to be really careful to not damaged the contents with heat. A large hotplate that just heats the flap without burning the cardboard is your best bet to not damage contents (compared to an oven). The outer printed layer on your box will discolor (turn brown) from the heat at around 390F, so you have to be very careful. Better to use a lower temp (exactly 350) and longer duration to heat, vs higher temp and shorter heating cycle. 80's Mattel Barbies used the same glue to seal the boxes. So it might be something cheaper for you to practice the technique on. Its also good because the cardboard is thinner, so you have to be more gentle not to crease. If you perfect the technique with Barbie, no problem with something like a Grayskull or Slime Pit. The bad news is that means there is a method to open any "factory sealed" Mattel glued flap, and then reseal it with the same original glue that is on the box! The good news is that if someone resealed with a moden chemical glue and not a heat glue, you will know it because even under heat, if won't open. So you can easily test for inauthentic resealing. Or if they used something like a common home hot glue it will be easily detectable when open. Factory sealed is an illusion... and you pay for that illusion.
It's both sad and relieving at the same time. While I'm glad they didn't ruin the value of a very vintage toy It's sad how much money they lost paying for it
HELL THE F*CK YEAH - YES yes I know it's just a toy but yet having the $$$$ and 'trust' of this be in authentically unopened condition just snatched and lost like that... :-P

Makes you wonder just how many people have items like this in boxes in their collection that they still think is factory sealed and have been totally burned like this and it goes to show the massive risk you can take putting money on the table for it , i really feel for that guy you can see as he walks away how badly that hurt ...
I was so blown away that it was a fraud, but it a good video to show that this can happen . So when buying what seems to be to good still need to examine it closely.
@@eterniadreams This outcome was not at all what I expected, but I was certainly not the only one... 🤣 ….what a plot twist! If this had happened to me, I don't know if I would have reacted so calmly. Looking forward to your next video! 👊🤓
I've watched tonnes of horror movies, they're not scary to me.... But this is way tense.... I'm stressed and biting my nails watching it, till I comically fell down after I see the condition of it..... Lol
While it's disappointing that it's not an actual vintage sealed castle grayskull, on the vright side at list you didn't destroy the value of an actual sealed one. Also you didn't have to see Pixel Dan suffer a mental breakdown over seeing something so horrifying
I'm mostly a sealed, in-box collector so this was tough to watch. It's sad that even in the collector community there will always be those who will take advantage of others just to make a buck and another reason why window packaging is so important.
I remember my Castle Grayskull growing up, it was worth between $25-$30 in 1983. I remember my next store neighbor Mark Olivas next store neighbor on 4634 West 141 st Street Hawthorne CA 90250 had a Castle Greyskull in his garage in the early 1980's. Your Brother-in-Christ Stephen Perry
Castle Greyskull was most often $24.99 brand new off the shelves in 1982. Some stores might have sold it for a little more. I remember in the early to mid 90s you could find a Castle Greyskull at flea markets for $10 dollars. Now, loose complete and mint for for a few hundred. A sealed box one for thousands. It's crazy.
that is beyond criminal forcing someone to pay out huge amounts in hopes they never unseal it and then when you do it just flop packed up and resealed I hope you find were it came from and get back that money. A very sad event for all those fans.
Wow that was unbelievable, one minute thinking that it was still factory sealed. Then being nothing more than resealed by a truly scummy person, who in turn pressured the vendor into buying it. Hopefully karma or consequences of their actions catch up with them.
Any date on the newspaper? This really makes me re-think the notion of getting anything sealed. It's not worth it. It needs to be complete. And I have had instances with Lego sets that were sealed, then we opened it up, and pieces were missing.
Oof, what a loss. Hopefully everything turns out as well as it can. I think stuff like this is why I never dabbled with sealed things in my long tenure as a hobbyist and collector.
The question is where in the chain of ownership does this shit happen? Makes me scared to own anything sealed cause if I ever resell it I don't want someone pointing the finger at me.
That's just flat out Dirty. If you open the box and it's Used say so. Don't rip someone off. Saying it's sealed in box. Then opening it and finding it in that condition. Errrr someone is just wrong for that.
Yeah, I'm not going to blame the victim, but c'mon man. There HAS to be some kind of way to establish if it's sealed proper or not. What do the people who grade and certify use? We know that there are scummy people out there and people fake things all the time when money can be made.
I would never spend that much on a childhood memory an even if I did an did open it an found out it was already opened not complete an in that condition I’d be going to jail an someone else would be going in the ground
