I know that this song is about a real life story of a terrifying, abusive relationship, but I've always interpreted it as someone with an identity crisis talking to themselves. "The change your name, or change your mind and leave this messed up place behind" line referring to how this person changes themselves constantly, but deep inside 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 know who 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 are, the messed up place being their past life. In my head, the first part is sung by their former selves (I love you so much more than you could know// I'll find you, Ronnie) trying to find out who they are. The second part is performed by their current self, where they want nothing but to escape from who they were before (I'm going to escape//I'll drink myself to death) because they hate who they once were. ik it's random but I just wanted to share
Phil Spector In a way i can explain, he was a man in the 60's-80's (i think) was a man who helped a group of singers which were the Ronnette sisters (they're all cousins tho, not sisters), he showed an interest to one of the Ronnette sisters, i can't recall who it was. They both got into a relationship and that's when Phil started getting manipulative and abusive in a way. Once it was Christmas (which is where this song is based on) he adopted 3 boys in order to make her stay with him. Years had passed and she managed to escape, again i can't remember how. There was a court case between them a few years back, i recommend watching some videos to have a clear explanation with the whole situation, but i hope this kinda helps @@Childrenoftheclty :]
@@Grapethegreat Her name was Ronnie Spector (Previously known as Veronica Bennett) edit: I don’t know the exact details on how she had escaped, but from what I recall she did it barefoot because Phil hid her shoes so she couldn’t leave and she also did it with the help of her mother
That actually makes alot of sense from the story behind the song, Ronnie always wishing she could get out and Phil always being scared of her leaving due to him being fucking insane
For those who dont know the backstory to this song, here it is. (DISCLAIMER: THE FOLLOWING INVOLVES MENTIONS OF DEATH AND DOMESTIC ABUSE) The song is about Veronica Bennett (Ronnie) and Phil Spector. They were in a very abusive relationship where Phil was controlling, and was physically and emotionally abusive. He would hide Ronnie’s shoes so she couldnt run away, and threatened her by saying if she ever tried to escape, he would display her corpse in a glass casket “If you ever try to leave me I’ll find you, Ronnie.”. In an attempt to piece together their marriage, Phil adopted twins as a “gift” to Ronnie on Christmas, hence the lyrics “The Christmas kids were nothing but a gift, love is a tower where all of us can live.” Ronnie eventually escaped him, but unfortunately passed in 2022 due to cancer. May she rest in peace.

I feel like this song fits the promised neverland if you look at the lyrics in a different way, it’s sort of describes the relationship Isabella and the kids at the orphanage have like the line “do what you want as long as you stay here” kinda symbolizes how the kids are raised freely yet they have to stay at the orphanage and the line “I need you now I love you so much more than you could know” shows how much she cares for Emma and the others but in the end they thought she was faking it all and “the Christmas kids were nothing but a gift” is similar to the Spector Story in the sense that Isabella only took in Carol to make it harder for Emma to leave. “Love is a tower where all of us can live” is like how they all think the orphanage was a nice place where they could all live happily as a family and “you’ll change your name or change your mind and leave this fucked up place behind” obviously shows how they all decided Isabella was no longer their mom but an enemy and then decided to leave the orphanage because they found out the truth about the demons trafficking them and everything and “but I’ll know” is how Isabella will know immediately because of her tracker and because she already knew their escape plan from the start and “if you ever try to leave me I’ll find you Ronnie” shows how she thought even if the kids left the demons would find them and “I’m leaving Phil I’m leaving now I’m going to escape but you won’t know how or where to find me when I’m gone” symbolizes how they were all gonna leave and Isabella didn’t know how they made it past the wall and how no one knew where they went after they escaped and “so get me out of here” also shows how she wants to leave with all the kids because she loves them so much but she knows she can’t because she’ll die if she steps outside the wall

for anyone actually wondering about the meaning of the song, here's the actual answer (if u don't wanna look on google) Ronnie Spector from the band group "The Ronnettes" was held by the music producer, Phil Spector. After Phil divorced his wife, he married Ronnie in 1968. The relationship became heavily abusive and manipulative which made Phil keep Ronnie in his basement of his Beverly Hills home for 2 years, On the year of 1971, Phil adopted 2 children (On Christmas. where the name of the song comes in) and gave them to Ronnie as a threat that if she ever tried to leave that the children would be killed by Phil, and used them as an excuse for if she left they would have no one. She was threatened many different ways, but finally escaped in 1972 , after drinking herself so much to the point she passed out and needed to be hospitalized, they went to court, leaving Phil a One million dollar fine to Ronnie, Nowadays, both Ronnie and Phil have passed, Ronnie passed away due to cancer on January 11, 2022, Phil passed in prison after commiting to murder in 2003 , In sometime of 2021, hopefully this kind of helps and R.I.P Ronnie Spector
For those who dont understand, the meaning of the song is about a kid named ronnie who got tickled in his testes and started hitting the gangnam style ontop of a 6'5 1 and a half year old infant peeing on a goat as well as he got shot with 12 remington 870s because of 12 chimpanzees singing ppap while simultaneously astonishingly beats the 7 national football league fleas inside of ronnie's grandma's nipple. This song truly changed my life. thank you for posting this
who are asking in the comments what is the backstory well there is a dark backstory to this song, so basically a man named Phil and a woman named Ronnette married and were both singers it was very toxic Phil would abuse Ronnette emotionally and physically and he was also mentally ill. Phil would do things like hiding ronnettes shoes and manipulating her so she couldn't leave. Phil also adopted kids for ronnette for Christmas which explains the Christmas kids, Ronnette ended up drinking a lot to end up in the hospital to get out of Phil's grasp which explains the "I'll drink myself to death inside" ronnette eventually got a divorce from phil. Phill died in 2021 and ronnette died in 2022
@@1xcguit’s about the relationship between Phil and Ronnie Spector. Phil abused Ronnie, and didn’t allow her to leave him. The titular “Christmas kids” were children that Phil adopted and surprised Ronnie with as a Christmas gift to keep her from leaving. Ronnie eventually got out, and Phil went on to murder an actress named Lara Clarkson many years later, which he was convicted for

This song is based on real events of how ronnie, a girl escaped from phil who kidnapped her, mistreated her, forced her to do things, that is, abused and manipulated her, and if she left, phil would kill her and it doesn't matter if ronnie changed her past. Phil would find it, this song is too sad and deep I had guard dogs so Ronnie wouldn't escape also bars with spikes Until one day Ronnie escapes from Phil and gets arrested. These are my tests: 1:051:191:30
I love this song but I also tear up every-time I listen to it for the simple fact of knowing the backstory it’s so sad and I can’t believe she had to go through all of that
This was the first nightcore I watched, it was around a year ago. Since then I watched tpn and read the manga for the first time and I'm still obsessed with it so this video is very nostalgic to me 😭😭
this song has a deep meaning n 1969, Ronnie Spector, the lead singer of the Ronnettes (a popular band back then) married Phil Spector. Phil was a famous record producer and songwriter, discovering the Beatles, the Ronettes, and many more golden pop stars. Phil was known for his charm, but behind closed doors he was a horrible husband. He essentially held ronnie captive in his mansion. He hid her shoes at night so she couldn’t run away, as well as lining the property with barbed wire fences and guard dogs. The scariest of these precautions, perhaps, was the golden coffin he kept in the basement. He threatened to kill ronnie and bury her in the coffin if she tried to escape. The only time she could leave the mansion was once a month, to go to the store for menstrual care products along with an appointed body guard. Ronnie lived this was for a long time, until one day, seemingly out of the blue, Phil comes home with two twin boys. Ronnie asked him who they were, and Phil replied “Merry Christmas!” hence the title-“christmas kids”. Phil had adopted the two boys without and consent from Ronnie, who became their mother. While Ronnie became a mom, hers was becoming worried. She had lost all contact with her beloved daughter. The details are fuzzy, and I am unsure how it happened, but somehow Ronnie’s mother freed her from her prison. The boys went back to their biological father, and Ronnie and Phil got a divorce in 1978. Phil forced her to give up a lot of money, and threatened her life with hitmen he had hired. although Ronnie is dead now, the horrors she went through will not be forgotten. Phil went on to murder actress Lana Clarkson in the same mansion in 2003. he was sentenced to only 19 years in prison. Ronnie tragically passed away due to cancer on January 13, 2022. Phil spector died on January 16, 2021...

She was threatened many different ways, but finally escaped in 1972 , after drinking herself so much to the point she passed out and needed to be hospitalized, they went to court, leaving Phil a One million dollar fine to Ronnie,
Nowadays, both Ronnie and Phil have passed, Ronnie passed away due to cancer on January 11, 2022, Phil passed in prison after commiting to murder in 2003 , In sometime of 2021, hopefully this kind of helps and R.I.P Ronnie Spector
they are also the people on the cover of the song, Ronnie on the right, and Phil on the left
what happened to the kids😭
Does the kids survived or are they dead ?

Omg the promised Neverland matches with this song sm
"lorax leaves peacfully"💀
For those who dont understand, the meaning of the song is about a kid named ronnie who got tickled in his testes and started hitting the gangnam style ontop of a 6'5 1 and a half year old infant peeing on a goat as well as he got shot with 12 remington 870s because of 12 chimpanzees singing ppap while simultaneously astonishingly beats the 7 national football league fleas inside of ronnie's grandma's nipple.
This song truly changed my life. thank you for posting this

This song reminds me of all thoughs Christmasas as a kid
The only song that will have a special place in my heart tbh
i love ur pfp
Same it’s a beautiful song with a very dark and tragic backstory
who are asking in the comments what is the backstory well there is a dark backstory to this song, so basically a man named Phil and a woman named Ronnette married and were both singers it was very toxic Phil would abuse Ronnette emotionally and physically and he was also mentally ill. Phill died in 2021 and ronnette died in 2022

the fact that in the background are the three protagonists from The promised neverland (my favorite anime) really match the song 🤭
it hurts when you discover the story behind this song
can you tell it to me
@@1xcguit’s about the relationship between Phil and Ronnie Spector. Phil abused Ronnie, and didn’t allow her to leave him. The titular “Christmas kids” were children that Phil adopted and surprised Ronnie with as a Christmas gift to keep her from leaving. Ronnie eventually got out, and Phil went on to murder an actress named Lara Clarkson many years later, which he was convicted for

omfg thanks.
The song is good but the backstory is insane.
tpn in the background really fits
Lycris: Ronnette, my dear, don't ever disappear
Do what you want as long as you stay here
I need you now, I love you so much, more than you could know

If you ever try to leave me, I'll find you, Ronnie
If you ever try to leave me, I'll find you, Ronnie
I'm leaving, Phil, I'm leaving now
I'm going to escape, but you won't know how

Yes
Despite the meaning behind this, im a massive fan of this song.
A pretty good song to listen to when the Lorax comes back
This song is based on real events of how ronnie, a girl escaped from phil who kidnapped her, mistreated her, forced her to do things, that is, abused and manipulated her, and if she left, phil would kill her and it doesn't matter if ronnie changed her past. Phil would find it, this song is too sad and deep I had guard dogs so Ronnie wouldn't escape also bars with spikes Until one day Ronnie escapes from Phil and gets arrested. These are my tests: 1:05 1:19 1:30

the background goes a little tooo good with the song😭

This was the first nightcore I watched, it was around a year ago. Since then I watched tpn and read the manga for the first time and I'm still obsessed with it so this video is very nostalgic to me 😭😭
this song has a deep meaning
n 1969, Ronnie Spector, the lead singer of the Ronnettes (a popular band back then) married Phil Spector.
He deserves to stay in hell.

[VENT] Skip if you don't want to read.
They were the bestest friends I had. Until one event happened. Nothing was the same. I don't get how it turned from a good friendship to a toxic one, I feel like I'm not treated well, but when I introduced my new best friends they treated them well. After that event they took my new best friends, it hurts. The memory keeps on repeating.
I don't wanna keep on repeating this memory, but I don't know how. It sucks.
