Totally agree with you! Even though they have said that their game won't be competitive, players will simply make it competitive anyway, and then lower skilled players will suffer from sweats and tryhards like us.
Can totally get it. The worst for me in evil dead was (after being decent at both sides) being matched with potato randos that prohibited me from being successful against demons that weren't so great. To make it worse, you can usually tell within a few minutes if your team has a chance. To me, fun requires a possiblity that both sides could win.
I think what he "Wes" was saying about the game trying to avoid a competitive atmosphere and more a fun experience is that the game will concentrate on exactly that, being a fun roller coaster ride, rather than the hardcore competitive side that DBD has. Yeah it'll be competitive, but the other 50% delivering the experience will also be there which I think will help mellow people out from being so hateful. Not everyone of course, some people are just negative people, but.. DBD I feel like has a 70% competitive side, and delivers 30% experience in terms of giving people that 'roller coaster ride'. And Texas Chainsaw finds that balance with 50% competitive, 50% experience and the whole thing marries together quite nicely. That said, I do agree with you, there are gonna be sweaty people in this game and it'll end up competitive just as much as any other game. And players will have to get good just like with any other game and they'll get better through repeated playing and grinding. But I think because the experience of the game, the presentation of the game will be so good, that the experience coming out the other end, will not be as frustrating whether you win or lose. And that's I think the big pointer to take home.
9:42 in most matches in the Texas chainsaw massacre you have to rely on yourself instead of your team sometimes you’ll work with your team but mostly not
I remember when I was playing Family and I would check if the other family members were responding with their mic. If they didnt i would dodge the lobby. Can't win as Family without communication.
*Little Jimmy comes home from school and plays TCM* Jimmy's mom:"Jimmy I just made you Jambalaya come on dooown" Little Jimmy:"Yaaaaaaaaay I'm comin down Mommy" *Little Jimmy DC's, abandons his Family and leaves Grandpa starved*
I don't think they need some complicated matchmaking, only something that separates total noobs from rest of the playerbase. Looking at people reactions in that dev's video, they seem happy with this decision, but I agree with you that something that protects noobs from being stomped is needed - that seems to be something people miss, they view it only as a mechanism for sweaty top players...
Yeah its gonna be bumpy on launch with no DC penalties and especially with zero matchmaking of any kind. I expect the first real post launch update to include some kind of matchmaking
But you can't really matchmake when everyone is LVL 1.. you have to wait to implement a feature like that. A) For people to actually get better after launch, and B) you have to gauge how big the audience of the game is, otherwise, once matchmaking is implemented, people could end up waiting in 30 minute lobbies.
Khaddy! I messaged you the other day just to see how you were. Good to see ya. Hopefully TCM implements something to help casual fans enjoy the game without getting stomped into the ground. But ultimately, it's just good to see everyone happy and eager to get their hands on a new asym. Have a good one Khaddy!
You were spot on about this. My friend and I always feel like noobs compared to everyone else. They're escaping less than 5 minutes and we're getting one shot by leather face. loll I really enjoy the game it's super fun but a little hard to stay motivated when you get stomped game after game like you said. I really hope there's matchmaking asap cause I can tell my friends aren't having fun like they did when the game first came out. It suckss :(
idk what happened to evil dead but i came back to the game after a month when it dropped and every single demon was a sweat god that found us within the first 2 minutes, spammed all his points into those busted posessions and would just beat our ass upside down and sideways.
i agree, but saying that the survivors are going to get stomped? no, teamwork matters only in the killer side here, they are the ones who will get fucked, this aint dbd where you need survivors to wipe yourself
i mean you could even see the damage done by noobs in the tech test, where alot of hitchikers didnt turn the fucking generator on. killers will be stomped
Thats khaddy, he cares about the others having bad time playing a game, sometimes when you just say the truth even with smooth words, they will just call you toxic, right? Khaddy? nice overview khaddy, was thinking also how it can be not competitive as well? If everybodys goal is to win,
I get what has been said in this video, however if people turn this into a competitive type game, it's going to ruin it. The reason being, is people will take the game WAY too seriously. They will start complaining about balance, and the devs will have to pick a side. Games like For Honor and Dead by Daylight have done this, and because of this, I can't have fun anymore, because of mechanic changes that forces me to adapt to it. Why would I spend 2 weeks adapting to a game mechanic and try hard to match up with people my "skill" when I just want to go in and either run for my life, or kill victims?
When i see this mindset of "the game is supposed to be fun, not competitive" i feel like the PvP is the wrong choice to make. They should try to develop games similar to "It Takes Two", for example.
People like you are gonna ruin the game if you want to be competitive just play DBD and respect the developers they said time and time again they don’t want the game to be competitive
The game is literally BUIILT to be competitive. It'll BE competitive, I just think Wes maybe could have worded himself a tad better. I know what he meant, but it's also only half of what the game will be. It's OKAY to have a competitive game, but the game *does* deliver a well rounded experience on top of that, that I think will mitigate a lot of the hateful attitudes and atmosphere that some of the other games bring.

1:54 friday had a comp scene, so does dbd, so did evil dead, and Tcm will too. These devs never understood that concept.

I really hope it does. I love the game and would be sad to see people quit.
9:42 in most matches in the Texas chainsaw massacre you have to rely on yourself instead of your team sometimes you’ll work with your team but mostly not
I’m talking about playing as a victim
I remember when I was playing Family and I would check if the other family members were responding with their mic. If they didnt i would dodge the lobby. Can't win as Family without communication.

This game is giving evil dead vibes I just can’t w the perks n all that
Well said 😊 "marking your words" ahahaha

So you think this game will be a flop?
I think it's going to be great for a few months just like Evil Dead
You were spot on about this. My friend and I always feel like noobs compared to everyone else. They're escaping less than 5 minutes and we're getting one shot by leather face. loll

Gonna flop just like their other titles
If I can have fun just for a few weeks. It's gonna be worth the money and time.
idk what happened to evil dead but i came back to the game after a month when it dropped and every single demon was a sweat god that found us within the first 2 minutes, spammed all his points into those busted posessions and would just beat our ass upside down and sideways.
They got good
Nice to see you big fella
i agree, but saying that the survivors are going to get stomped? no, teamwork matters only in the killer side here, they are the ones who will get fucked, this aint dbd where you need survivors to wipe yourself
You okay man? Sounds like back from school Jimmy Fd you up out of breath
Is this true?
Covid is a bitch man Kappa
@@KhaddyTVfarts and poptarts, that sh*t's still a thing?..
Get on the mend soon and take good care man (and F jimmy)
The average survivor player won’t come across sweaty Killer comps every game. As long as there’s a variety of players, then SBMM isn’t necessary.
True but when they actually do come across the sweaty 3 stack family 5 times a row. They guy is not going to have a great time anymore.
If you need a Resistance S tier player let me know 😎
First! Glad ur doing well khad I'm interested in seeing how the game will progress as well. I'm stay tuned for TCM streams
i mean you could even see the damage done by noobs in the tech test, where alot of hitchikers didnt turn the fucking generator on. killers will be stomped
The argument was rather teams vs soloq than family vs survivors
I'm going to play the shit out of this game, but I give the game a year, and we'll be in the same situation as Evil Dead.
The game is fundamentaly good. But what did they really learn from their last mistake Friday the 13th?
Thats khaddy, he cares about the others having bad time playing a game, sometimes when you just say the truth even with smooth words, they will just call you toxic, right? Khaddy? nice overview khaddy, was thinking also how it can be not competitive as well? If everybodys goal is to win,
No mmr means big winstreaks and many mad players that are not gonna have fun... rly questionable decision by GUN : /
i guess you are not into DBD ?
Dbd is cool
@@KhaddyTV why you dont start stream dbd? With alien soon it will be huge
I used to stream DBD a lot back in the days. I'm just burnt out from it. I have considered it.
I don't disagree with anything you said. As much as the nature of the game, as the abstract concept of fun in the that many appeal to.

Let’s play TCM together khaddy 😁
TCM going free on xbox gamepass
Would be cool
It is free on gamepass day 1.
As an xbox player I can confirm it is.
Oh thats cool
Dude what’s up nerd
not all asymmetrical horror games should be competitive to be honest making the game competitive would hurt it even more
It's going to become competitive no matter what anyone thinks. It will happen and you can choose to roll with the punches or take the hit
When i see this mindset of "the game is supposed to be fun, not competitive" i feel like the PvP is the wrong choice to make. They should try to develop games similar to "It Takes Two", for example.
Exactly my point
Nahh fuck that i want it casual... dbd is a toxic game and im tired of it.. TCM all the way
Good luck with that lol
👍🏻😁
People like you are gonna ruin the game if you want to be competitive just play DBD and respect the developers they said time and time again they don’t want the game to be competitive
You completely missed the whole point of the video LOL
