- The Ukrainian soccer fans who became Putin's nightmare | Russia Ukraine update | Before Russia invaded Ukraine they were a collection of football ultras, right-wing agitators, and veterans of the notorious Azov Battalion. Now, they are crack soldiers and part of one of Ukraine’s best fighting units called Kraken. Putin’s propagandists call them Neo-Nazis, and they have faced accusations of harbouring far-right fanatics and war crimes - all of which they deny. I did research on Azov, and it feels like they use the word "Nationalist" the way we use the word "Patriotic". Literally, it just means to love one's nation. As an American, that makes sense.

Indeed. One more thing to consider - Azov was formed by and from those who survived 2014's occupation of Donbass. Many of those men lost family and all of them lost property, memories and ancestral land to orcs. Every one in Azov had a very personal score to settle with orcs and those who collaborated with them.

In 2014 during country wide protests against Yanukovich thugs were hired to beat up the protestors. Shortly after ultras proclaimed peace between the groups and took of to the streets to defend protesters. Wild times.

Fun fact: Putin declared goal of his war as a "Liberation of Russian speakers from Ukronazi regime", but most of Kraken's soldiers have Russian as their first language, becouse their native city Harkiv is city of Russian speakers. As Ukrainian president Zelensky had Russian as his first language by the way. He was born in Russian speakers' Jew family and his parents earlier voted for Ukrainian political party which supported tighter ties with Russia, as they remember in their interview for journalists. But after 24.02.22. everything changed and can't never be the same.

can I ask one question? I am from Lithuania but my moms side parents were from Kharkiv. my grandmother surname was Shevchenko. for some reason I always thought that these surnames with O in the end are sort of Ukrainian decent surnames 😂 am I absolutely wrong? 😂

For those unfamiliar, a regiment is generally composed of two battalions of between 800-900 men each. A better half of a brigade.
I say at least 700 dead and the rest injured by the end of the week lol

When Ukraine began its war against its own residents in the east of the country. 15,000 inhabitants of Donbass have been killed here before the Russians came to help. And now England defends and trains Nazis. Shame on their country. Which itself has been voluntarily invaded by Muslims from Africa and Arab countries.

Personally, I believe that the unit having been brought directly into and under the Military Inteligence Directorate shows just how fierce and effective these guys are.
