    I have a question that’s off topic: to what do you attribute your beautiful skin? Have you worn sunscreen your whole life? When did you really start taking care of your skin in earnest? Also, I love your channel and have no idea why you don’t have a million subscribers!

    • @TheHoodedLid

      Hi! I'm happy to answer. I have not worn sunscreen my whole life. I had a couple of skin cancers and my derm told me I really needed to wear it when I was about 40. I TRIED. I just couldn't find a sunscreen that wasn't icky, or heavy or melted into my eyes and mouth in the heat. So, I started TRYING at 40 - but I was probably 40-50 when I started wearing sunscreen every day. As far as taking care of my skin, I was always pretty good about moisturizer and eye cream during the day...I'd find something I liked and stick with it for a few years and move on to something else. BUT, I never had a night program and to be honest, rarely washed my face at night!! I started around the same time as sunscreen with a night program, tried this and that and finally settles on something that works for me. I have no idea why my channel doesn't have more subs. The growth has been so slow for me and it can be disheartening at times, to tell you the truth. But I keep on keeping on!

      @@TheHoodedLid well I (and so many others) appreciate you! You’re gorgeous and make me less afraid to age. Your story is inspiring, too! I tried with sunscreen for so many years 😩 but I couldn’t find one I liked. I would only wear it at the beach or if I was going to be outside for a long period of time. I started wearing sunscreen when I was 36, and I’m 39 now. I don’t think I would have been able to make the habit stick if it wasn’t for TH-cam recommendations and education.

      @@rachellopez8357 That's great - you're so far ahead of me!! I used to spend HOURS gardening, at the dog park, etc - without anything on! Sunscreens are much better now then they were just 10 years ago. One piece of advice I'd offer you - if I was your age again I'd start Retin-A. I've been using it since Oct and still have no acclimated to wearing it every day because my skin is sensitive. Even if you're not ready now - get a Retinol or Retinaldehyde in your routine now and step up to Retin-A around mid-forties.

    Lovely to see these blushes and the lip on you! I have 4 of the blushes including these 2 shades and am happy with all of them. I have the tan lip and love it, d’été really does look very fresh and youthful on you! I appreciate that you film in natural light, I also film in natural light and it can be tricky but I think worth it! Thanks for this video, glad they finally made it to your door 😧❤️

    I bought rose ombré, and it’s fine, but seeing your swatches, I really wish I’d bought rose plume instead. I have the Surratt barbe a papa (powder) arriving today though-any thoughts on how it compares to rose plume?
    Glad your products finally made it! Everything I order directly from Hermes ends up delayed so it’s probably time to switch to one of the department stores. Btw I know I’m in the minority on this, but I love the Hermes blush brush. It’s a bit on the coarse side, and it picks up quite a bit of blush, but it blends the blush out beautifully.

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I actually did a swatch comparing Barbe a Papa after I shot this...the Barbe a Papa is much lighter and pops more than plume. It might layer well with the Ombre! Also, there is a sheen to Barbe a Papa, it's really beautiful.

    It’s subjective, but I have Rose and I didn’t think this offered the luxury experience of Chanel or Chantecaille. I think the formula is just “fine” but where they dropped the ball for me was with the compact. I love the mod offset design but it would only be a “wow” for me if they had made a compact that was as luxurious as say, the WA lip suede compacts. Part of me thinks that the compact kind of goes with the mod design but I just can’t call the experience from start to finish a luxury experience. This missed the luxury mark for me for those reasons, sadly.

      I did this so long ago, I don't remember! I do remember the light changed all the time while I was shooting...and I also shoot in order. So whatever I was wearing prior to the comparison is probably a good bet!

    I think the Hermes blushes are great and for me stay on all day unlike Chanel, Chantecaille and others. For us in Aus, I just bought the new Dior quint which is only Aud $1 cheaper than a Hermes blush! I do love the Suqqu blushes though ☺️

    Which of the blush brushes do you prefer most? Is that a Chikuhodo Z brush? Thanks!

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm still getting to know the Chikuhodo and the Surratt brush. They are very different (the Chik is softer I think, but it's been broken in for a few weeks) The Chikuhodo I think is called cheek and highlighter, it's from the Z series.

    Hi! Thank you for the demo and the reviews. I love both blush shades on you though on my screen, Plume looks more flattering. I am so surprised (and glad) you like the lip balm. I now have FOMO. BTW, Rose “d’été” (think French alphabet and say the letters “D” “T” and that is how to say d’é(=D)té(=T)). Rose d’été means “summer rose” or “summer pink”).

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer the Plume as well. I feel the Ombre might pull warm on me - which doesn't make sense since it looks mauve-rosewood in the pan.

    • @jocelynel-fab5214
      @jocelynel-fab5214 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheHoodedLid I have the rose poivré shade and it initially looks cool-neutral and, after a few minutes, it looks warmer (many blushes, lipsticks and eyeshadows do that on me). I checked the ingredient list for titanium dioxide (which oxidizes with UV light, and which is present in all eyeshadows and most blushes) and I couldn’t find it but I suspect there is something akin to it. The only blush I have that does not oxidize on me is the Chantecaille Bliss (butterfly) which is a very light pink (but much more pigment-dense than the Hermes blush). Rose Ombré is a pretty shade for you, and will complement a warm eye and lip look. BTW, based on your review (and yours alone) I have purchased the lip enhancer, but in Rose Tan (the rose d’été is sold out except at Nordstrom US, and not sold at all at the Nordstrom Canada site). The Rose Tan is deeper and plummy, and I think it will complement my cool-neutral skin tone. I will update you when I receive it. Thanks and have a great weekend!

      @TheHoodedLid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jocelynel-fab5214 I'd love to hear what you think of the Tan. Just from the Hermes lip looks - I felt it was too close to my lip color to impart anything special - but the d'Ete a just adore!
