I love my weekly newspaper here in rural Kentucky. Once a month they include reprint articles from the early 1900's. So cool... they report on something in the present and then show the reprint from way back when. It's a 4-5 page paper for $1.00 a week so it's a great but as I get the news and junk journal fodder.
I have never heard of junk journals until I seen one of your videos. I have since binge watched several. Today I went to my local "junk" store and bought several old books and the owner, who I know we'll, I going to save me all the old mail he gets. I'm making 3 junk journals for my granddaughters. Coffee dying paper as I type. 😁 Then I'm making the envelopes later this evening.
I had 8 hens for 18 months, and more eggs than I knew what to do with. They’re hilarious. They trashed the lawn, but they made me laugh every day. I gave them away because we just had too many foxes in the neighborhood, and I was afraid of finding a pile of feathers where a chicken used to be. Loved them, though!

I had best of luck few weeks ago. Found a reproduction 1906, Sears catalog for .25 cents at yard sale. It was reproduced in 1960s, so still vintage.
I remember when kids would wrap their soda cans in newspaper to keep them cold when we went on field trips. Oops.. my age is showing..haha.
i too want chickens and goats im currently saving so i can get some farm land so i can make that dream of mine come true soon i am a huge animal lover and cant wait for that day to come soon. When i get my goats and chickens i will name one after one of my favorite junk journal you tuber Pam

If there was an award for the best presenter you would win hands down you got me through lock down love it my husband is a hoarder he save every paper in 1988 when our second daughter was born in Australia it was our bicentennial year I don't think he would appreciate me cutting them up Pam but I suppose I can scan and print I have made a jounal one each of my kids X3 so I now have great ideas from you thankyou for being you

My momma had chickens growing up they had a small farm. My X's dad had chickens Everywhere! His mom had a huge tall thing she kept eggs in. I never had to buy eggs.
Hey Pam - about glue mats: I use the same cutting mat for sewing and crafting. I grab an old magazine or catalog and use it for the "small glue jobs. I'll glue around stuff and when the page on the catalog gets "full", I just turn the page and keep going. Then, if the pages get glued together I have a stronger base for something! Just a thought.

I found an old Farmers Almanac and it has a lot of old ads in it. I tea dyed the page and it worked great for a journal. Thanks for all the great ideas you come up with. You are very inspirational.
Goats? Chickens? Are you sure? Maybe you should watch videos for Ima Survivor Sanctuary to see how much fun they are no matter what they are doing! And Hanging with Pawpaw is another Morrow family member and he has quite a unique little gang of troublemakers he hangs around with on his part of Morrow Hill. Almost always guarantee a giggle or two or three!!!
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw you with GRIT newspaper! I use to sell that paper back home in Indiana and it wasn't my idea of a good way to spend a Saturday morning! Just love the memories but am so glad I'm not out knocking on doors anymore!!!
Sonny is such a sweetie. I managed to get my hands on a reproduction Sears and Robuck catalogue. But I just can't seem to tear it up. Bought it at a yard sale for $4. Canadian. It's fun going through it and looking at the prices. Anyway, love watching you create.
I love your collage pages. I have chickens. 12 of them they’re all egg land. I’m not a farm just a city person that loves the farm LOL but my oldest chickens just go to pass on their own.

That comic was written by Zane Grey!! He had a cabin in a town near me and authored many books about our region. The Zane Grey comic strips are worth money, too.
Ok ! Since I am pretty new to the junk journal game, I just started to not throw away stuff….even my husband recently asks me if I could make use of his paperwork, packages, reading material…. But we have searched everywhere : no old newspapers to be found. But: since I have been traveling (for work) a lot, I can always get hold of papers in different languages…that is also nice… Chinese, Indian, Arabic… those foreign letters alone are quite useful. And oftentimes the paper already looks weathered and vintage. So I am using those. But what I am struggling with is the signatures. I don’t find the right papers to make them pretty and useful at the same time. This dyeing with tea or coffee is new to me and I am wondering if I can get away with NOT doing that…. So messy and I would like to,get started right away…
I have learnt so much from your videos and find them very entertaining. Sometimes I fall asleep over them. Not because they are boring but because I cannot stop watching in the middle of the night…. Greetings from germany.

OMG The GRIT was published for 111 years in Williamsport Pa until 1993 when it was sold to Ogden in Topeka KS...I live in Williamsport Pa and the building is still called the GRIT building

Many years years ago, when I was thumbing through the country, one of my jobs was checking eggs to see if they were sellable or if they had embryos. The hogs got those. It was a special light bulb and I did one at a time.

A good way to age newspaper is put it in the sun for awhile, 😎
Fewer people are reading newspapers. Drove a route until my granddaughter was born and in a 45 mile route I only had 197 papers.
