Meiteis are the most privileged community in respect of socio economic status in Manipur. Besides, there are some Meiteis who enjoys SC status.
As far as socioeconomic status of community wise comparison is made, Pangals are the most downtrodden and need to have a proper support in order to have a equal status. Ethnically speaking, Pangal qualifies to include in ST/SC status.

Meitei langauge is written script of Bengali origin(recognised in constitution),Classical dance recognise in constitution, History prove caste system was there within the community ( high class, middle class) just like the Hindu they have kings and queen.If GOI have given them General/ OBC in the past, the GOI does not make a mistake either, but today if they want ST , there should be a valid point. injustices is not done to meitei by anyone but meitei is small community so , there is something we north east must look for them, but Meitei, should not asked support , mainland india like a fox when they need help but first better resolve within their close neighbour like,kuki, Naga/ mizo and do not descriminate the tribe as Meitei think they are the oldest civilization.( Which us absurb and unnecessary)we do good to others, good things will happen to us.
