Have never seen these hidden seals, nice idea. Althoug I would've maybe not cut the seal in half at the top so there is less water getting in? And why didn't you polish the covers before painting? I think that would've been even "glossier" from the looks?
I had the same worry to be honest. I have since removed and installed a more appropriate sized seal. Didn’t think to polish before lacquering, might try that on the second lens and see how it turns out!
@@grossmeister1181 thanks! Saw on a forum someone had done it years ago and thought it looked very clean. The seals are now looking a lot tighter - thankfully as the UK weather suddenly turned wet after doing it ..!
Laquer is matt when applied, it needs wet sanding with about 1200-1500 grit and machine polishing.
