thank you for what you were talking about around 15:50 about the differences between studying history in undergrad and studying history in grad school and beyond...I'm starting to apply to college now and I've never heard my mentors talk about how different grad school is from undergrad in this specific subject...^.^ you're very inspiring to me !!!
loved seeing you featured on the financial diet!! the influencing and MLM connection was so interesting. I feel like there's a great comparison to draw between the MLM model and academia, and I'd absolutely watch a video essay of that critique from you! 💞
Kaelyn, when I listened to the podcast at the end, I had just one thought: "She is such a wise woman." Not that it wouldn't be evident from your TH-cam videos. But it somehow blends in with the regularity of days that you capture. But in this podcast, when you focused on specific topics, it was so obvious. It just blew my mind how clever and elaborate your thoughts are. Thank you for your job to share yourself with others. There are huge things you will achieve.
@@KaelynGraceApple A video about videos, lol. Yeah It would be a great! I'm a nerd for that sort of stuff. I work at an art museum and I'm always looking for ways to use videos to help with our art educational programming. :)
Currently trying to write up my own History PhD, and completely relate to being to explain my ideas orally, and struggling to articulate it in writing. I was speaking about exactly that at my last supervisor meeting haha. I think there is a difficulty with academic writing, as you are attempting to reconcile broader arguments, examples from source material, historiography and where your own position sits. Its tough! Glad you are getting somewhere, I have had a very similar experience in the last few months and hoping to crack it soon.
What can I say… You are amazing!! Firstly, this Vlog felt like an independent film/documentary vibe… I loved the bit when you were contemplating if you should change into your riding clothes, and then the camera cut to you trying them on in your bedroom. I also absolutely loved the choice of music and that sweet, sweet, sweet moment, when Moo climbed onto your chest with that song playing 😢 I also really loved seeing you at work at your new job! It’s one thing to explain it but another thing to see you in action… And I’m so happy for you! What an amazing opportunity for you! 🎉 Lastly, The moments when you stopped and told us how happy you are and how excited you feel that everything is coming together was so, so sweet! You can really tell that you don’t take anything for granted, and I know we all love watching you on this journey, and getting to witness how far you have come! So excited to see more content! ❤
I feel like it is SO me when you said I'm so much better at writing what I intend to do, rather than what I did. I struggle with this all the time (love writing grants and struggle with the manuscripts). Maybe worth exploring these two different, yet related, parts of an academic job!
Hi Katelyn. I'm so happy for you. You are glowing! Please could list the book series you are finishing in the video and the next books you will be reading. I will appreciate that so much. Thank you❤
I love your content and your hair! Would you be able to share how you style/ dye it? Also I’m very excited for your kingdom of ash review, I’m currently on the tandem read ❤
I believe I mentioned my hair care routine in a routine video recently but am also working on creating a reel/short of it! So definitely keep an eye on IG!!
Lovely video. Thanks Kaelyn. I'm the biggest slacker ever especially when the weather is nice. I just want to be outside enjoying life. You inspire me to get back on track. Although I do wonder if you ever feel constrained by your responsibilities or if you ever deal with fomo on sunny days.
I am happy for new opportunities in your life, and so in love with this lifestyle. Also I'm grateful for inspiration to actually create and live it, even part of it. But at the same time, I am aware that behind all of this lies hard work, dedication, persistence, and difficult moments, but at the end it is worth it. Just keep going 💪❤
My first appearance in a TH-cam video and of course I am eating a snack (glad I'm sized less than a centimetre 😅) Some serious plate-spinning skills on display here, see you back in the Writing Group!
Kaelyn! Awesome news; I'll watch your Deep Dive interview after I finish this vlog. I'm also looking forward to your Productivity Lab on Sunday! BTW,, is your writing lab open to US viewers, & is there a special link? When I click on accepted society Iink, a "private site" message pops up. Thank you!
Accepted Society is open internationally! But our sessions run at times often best suited to the US/CA/UK/EU and my apologies about the link! Here is the correct one accepted-societ.mn.co
I came across some pieces that heavily cite early travel records during a grad seminar I took called "Visions of Africa". Not my area of expertise, but some cool travel writing was in "Scratches on the Face of the Country; Or, What Mr. Barrow Saw in the Land of the Bushmen", "Victorians and Africans: The Genealogy of the Myth of the Dark Continent", "The Image of Africa: British Ideas and Action, 1780-1850" by Phillip Curtin, "Ibn Battuta in Black Africa" by Said Hamdun & Noel king , “The Moor in the Text:Metaphor, Emblem, Silence” by Israel Burshatin, "Memoirs of an Arabian Princess" by Emily Ruete.
I am not done with the video yet so I don't know if you touched up on that, but I would love an update of your Notion/organisation tools now with your 9-5 job + PhD 🤍 in case there was any!
I wanted to join the acceptance society group but i couldn't, the website is blocked 😞... Anyways, i love long dissertation diaries ❤❤ i always love to start my day with it , keeps me motivated 💪☺️💕🌸
The other thing that really helps me get writing on the page with my PhD is allowing myself to write simply about the "huh, interesting" observations I make in my research, not necessarily coming to a conclusion beyond "that's interesting isn't it" 🥲

Oh I didn't know that episode went live! I would love to make a video essay of my own about it at some point
What she was on financial diet!? Omg I have to go see!!! Thank you! ❤

I love your cinematography so much! Would you ever consider a video about how you film? Like setting up the shots, different angles, cameras, etc?
Oh I didn't know this was something people would enjoy! I would love to make a video about how I film vlogs

The writing tips were so helpful! Thanks for sharing your setback and what got you over the hump. Valuable!

Love this! You inspire me to get things done!
I love these long vlogs! I always look forward to your videos. Can you make a video explaining why you chose this field of study?
Oh I do need to make a video about my education journey! Thank you so much for the reminder
Today is like a fan made ‘Gilmore Girls’ episode but it’s in London.
haha this is the greatest compliment
I thought the same thing when Kaelyn was reading on the tube! And walking while reading! I could never concentrate 😅😂
You're glowing! So happy to see you thriving! I just started Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. :)

Haha the highest compliment ✨

"Memoirs of an Arabian Princess" by Emily Ruete.
Thank you so so much!! These may be a little late for my research but I will check their footnotes!!
We need more beautiful empowering everyday life videos like this.

I haven’t seen her in 10+ years but Julia and I have a mutual friend from high school in Maryland! Small world 😯
Now that you're working with Ali, are you going to dive into Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series (if you haven't already)??
Yes!!!!!
Thank you for sharing
Do you decide how much time you will spend on each task ahead of time? I’m assuming that’s what you do but I can’t remember if I’ve heard you say.
yes! Check out my 3 part planning system video

Interesting, they allow you to film during work. The company I work in would never allow me to do so.
Well I do work with a bunch of creators so many of us vlog the happenings
