Thank you for uploading this video. Such peaceful music accompanying it too. It makes a pleasant change from the loud intrusive music that accompanies some youtube videos. It makes me want to visit Scotney Castle.
Hi Gina, Thanks so very much. I'm so glad you liked it; it is a beautiful place to visit. I hope you visit soon. It looks wonderful in the summer, but in any season, it's a treat. All the best, Gary & Janis
Elizabeth, Once again, thank you so much. We are looking to visiting some more National Trust gardens in 2024 so keep keep a lookout there's more to come 😊 All the best, Gary & Janis
Yes, we Will admit it is stunning! Our favourite part was the ruin. Very picturesque with the wisteria dancing in front of it! Thanks for taking us along 😁
🙏 Thank you guys - just 65km from the Channel Tunnel 😉 and in this corner of the UK we have plenty of castles. Which part of Belgium are you guys from? It's been a while since we stopped over, and we have a few places we'd like to explore. Anyway we're glad you like the video, thanks so much for the comment Gary & Janis
I visited Scotney Castle in June - July 1988. I wish I had seen a background video like this, which would have provided me with tools to increase my understanding and enjoyment. Later I attended the IPPS Conference in Southampton University. I met Christopher Lloyd, who was very friendly and invited me to Sissinghurst.
Hi, How fantastic, lovely places to visit. We're lucky; we pop by often and see them to get a little inspiration for our garden through the seasons. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, All the best, Gary & Janis
Andrew, I hope you had a fantastic day, I know the weather was a mixed bag, but it's such a wonderful place. Thanks for taking the time to drop by and leave a comment, Gary & Janis
Jan, So glad you liked it; it is a magical place, and like so many National Trust places, so well maintained, the gardens provide an inspiration for those with green fingers, and the old castle is something else. Thank so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment, All the best, Gary & Janis
Hello Trebor, It is such a beautiful place; it won't have changed too much, except the gardens have matured a bit more since then. The National Trust takes such care in its properties; hopefully, they'll be here for many years to come. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment, All the best, Gary & Janis
Such a lovely and charming vlog, Scotney Estate has been on a to do list for ages and we will do it for sure very soon. Thank you for showing us around and have a nice end to your day.
Thanks so much guys, glad you liked the video. It is a fabulous place. With our video we just try to improve with each one we create. That's why I try not to rush them and make little improvements along the way. We're just packing up for a few days in Bath, which we're looking forward to. Anyway, thanks for the comment, really appreciate it. Take care, have a great weekend. Gary & Janis
Thank you Gary and Janis, this brought back many memories, I visited in the early 70s, the house was not open then, I remember sitting on the grassy bank by the ruins overlooking the moat, watching the many dragonflies, they were beautiful, they fly in a pattern and keep to the same, such delight, the piano music was dreamy
Linda - Wow, was it much different? Obviously, the house and castle, and the landscape will not have changed much, but the gardens, perhaps some changes there. The Great Storm of '87 must have removed some of the larger trees. It just looks so natural these days, but that cannot be without hard work As always, thanks for the comment, Stay safe, stay well, stay shaded. Thanks Gary & Janis
To be frank, I cannot remember much about it, other than stated, I had no knowledge of the house, which was not open then, looked lovely in your video, I cannot remember much about the garden either, I was 20 when I went with my boyfriend Reg, I remember that Sissinghurst was not far away, think we saw that at the time also, have you been to Nymans, Hidcote, Kiftsgate, the latter are on opposite sides of the road to each other, maybe you have, I see that you have an extensive collection of videos, which I am yearning to see....take care, its broiling in London, hate this weather@@OurWorldForYou
Linda, Ohh it's too hot here in deepest darkest Kent, and my office at home is southish facing - By 3:00pm it's way too warm to, so I have to decamp. The worse thing is, to record the audio for the video I have to shut the windows & doors, so tomorrow is going to be fun. The secret is an early start. We haven't covered Hidcote & Kiftsgate, we must pencil those in for a later tour of the Cotswolds, one for next year perhaps Anyway, must dash and get some work done. Kind regards, Gary & Janis
Dear Gary and Janis, In London its 32 degrees, next week they forecast this am 40 degrees.....yikes!!!!, the worst weather ever, yearn for the autumn, I did buy off QVC tv, cool down towels, £16 for 4, brilliant, they work, gave two to friend and Poppy her dog, they work, have a good day and lets hope the northerlys come and blow it back to Africa@@OurWorldForYou
Linda, That's just too warm, always find cities can get oppressively warm. I remember a visit to New York back in 2007, and we took a 'fake' look around a department stote in downtown Manhatten just to enjoy the aircon' We're funny us Brit's, we opperate best in a very narrow range of temperatures. Here's hoping it cools a few degrees, and a touch of overnight rain for our garden would be nice too. 🤞 Anyway, here's to the next story, time to dive back into my video. Gary & Janis
Another FANTASTIC video. Had such a blast when we visited Scotney, i honestly didn't know there was a ruin down the bottom until we were wandering the beautiful gardens, what a place though isn't it? Love the way you've filmed this! gorgeous and picturesque, thank you for sharing Gary & Janis!
Thanks so much Guys, it is wonderful, and I know we’ll be back - not sure if it will make another video, although we do need to discover the ‘ice house’ which so far we’ve missed on both visits. These productions are becoming longer & longer, after filming its editing, colour grading, commentary (plus subtitles) and soundtrack. Still we hope each one is better than the last 🤞 Anyway, thanks so much for the comment- seen your getting close to the 1,000 🤞 it’ll be soon - think we were at the same place last year 😀 Gary & Janis
Hello there Gary and Janis. Another of your stunning visits, beautifully filmed to maximize the viewing pleasure :) A worthy addition to your previous video. Once again we can only appreciate the incredible talent and skill of the National Trust gardeners who create such stunning views and amazing plantings - oh, and the buildings are pretty good too :)
🙏 Thank you sir, a lovely place to visit, and like all the National Trust places we have visited, so well maintained. We're off to Bath shortly, do you know it well? we've researched it's past and there's obviously the Roman Baths, but it seems, apart from the Abbey, the majority of the medieval history was wiped away in the Georgian period. Still, we'll keep our eyes peeled for some of the tell-tale signs. As always, thanks for your comment. Take care, stay safe, and we hope the New Zealand winter is not too harsh. Gary & Janis
@@OurWorldForYou Hello. I have only visited Bath on a few occasions in the past - it never had a high enough priority over other places. The Abbey is worth a look, and with the Roman baths, there are some remaining indications that the hot springs were well known by the earlier Britons, most likely for the purpose of votive offerings. A nice enough city to walk around though -and a connection with one of the Bronte sisters I seem to recall, who died in Bath - not my area of expertise, so a bit uncertain about that last bit - jolly good :(
Addendum - Thinking on, that connection may have been Jane Austen - sorry, 19th Century authors are not my thing, apologies to their legion of fans :) If I may suggest, make some time to visit Wells, for a more authentic feel of the Medieval past. The cathedral is magnificent, with a wonderfully ornate and complex frontage, and together with the associated buildings make for a fascinating and satisfying walk - enjoy :)
🙏 Thank you sir; sorry for the delay in replying; TH-cam thought your reply was Spam, so hid it from view. The Abbey is marvellous, it also helped that the organist was practising, and the sound resonating through the Abbey was tremendous. The Roman Baths were also fabulous, a must-see for those visiting Bath, but so much more than just the baths themselves; the Roman Temple too, a great experience. We did find the remains of the medieval wall, and the remaining East Gate, hidden by the Georgians. Talking of Georgians, No1 Royal Cresent. The museum/experience of Georgian life, again superb. Should be called the Bridgerton experience, as it explains the background to the Netflix series very well. There's so much more to Bath, and guess what, that will be featured soon on the channel. Anyhow, thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Stay safe, stay well King Regards, Gary & Janis

I hope you are enjoying your Summer :)
@2:48 You both should visit Wistman’s wood on Dartmoor when you’re next passing that way… it’s bizarrely beautiful, the West Dart river runs through it and is surrounded by fields of sheepies!
Hi Luciani, it’s been a while since we headed that way - we’re currently in Bath, so part way there I guess. Thanks for the comment, hope you are well and enjoying sunny Kent - it’s a little grey today in Somerset, but let’s hope it brightens up. Gary & Janis

Dear Gary and Janis, Thought I would write and give you the good news, my passport has arrived, so Cinderella can now go to the ball, it came yesterday, oh what a relief, hope you are ok
Hi Linda, that's excellent news 🥳🍾 We're all okay, just finishing off Saturday's video - it seems endless 🙃 So when are you off on your cruise? I bet you are so relieved. Regards, Gary & Janis
Dear Gary and Janis, I felt like a ton weight had been lifted off my shoulders, I was feeling ill, sick every time I thought about it, wish I hadn't booked the cruise, it had been cancelled twice, once for Covid and once for dry dock, I am going to Kirkwall, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Norway, the latter I have been to before, not the former, its a three week trip, I am looking forward to having my meals cooked for me, no washing up and no grocery shopping, the only thing when its over you come down to earth with a crash, I go on the 5 August and its on the Aurora, my favourite ship, have you ever taken a cruise ? I can recommend P and O Aurora, its beautiful, has the most stunning atrium and its adults only, wish you were on there too, take care and best wishes to you both@@OurWorldForYou
Linda, we've never taken a cruise - I have a problem slowing down at times, and the leisurely pace of life might be a bit much, although the thought of the landscape of the north sounds fantastic, and if this heat keeps up, you are going to be in the best place. We love Iceland, an amazing country to explore; we are so glad we did our 2-week tour in 2018, fantastic. The problem with any trip is the end, but so long as you bring back wonderful memories, then you have something to feed on for years to come Here's to a safe trip 🍾 Gary & Janis
