Thank you soooo much for this video. We just bought a 2016 Stingray only 30k miles just 5 days ago and really didn't get out and drive it much until today. We got the dreaded rumble. I started reading forums from a few years ago on the topic and all pointed towards a new torque converter. Your vid made us feel much better.
I just bought a 2016 C7 and the day after I bought it the shuddering started. Taking it in tomorrow for this transmission fluid flush. Hoping like heck this is the solution 🤞
Follow-up! The transmission flush worked! Just ordered the Range Technology AFM bypass for the OBD2 port. Already sick of the clunky transmission going in and out of V8 and V4 - so dumb, and this will hopefully prevent lifter issues on my C7 as well. 😇
@@jrparker4804 nice how much was it?
Did it rattle when you didn’t hit the paddle ? When I start
My car it always rattles
Buy the module to stop the 4 cylinder 6cyl change it fixes it
Thank you!!! I've been chasing this exact issue I've been having on my 2016 for the past couple of years with the dealer. They tell me since the check engine light is not coming on, there isn't an issue. I ran across your video this morning and sent it to my service advisor and asked him to watch it. He did and he found the service bulletin. He quoted me $350 to do this service. I am out of warranty so I guess I am stuck paying for it. I wish I would have seen your video a year ago while it was still under warranty. I am going to wait till spring and get it done. I am betting my problem will be solved. Thank you for posting this video!
Did it work??
Thank you I just made an appointment with my dealer and printed out the the bulletin thanks for the easy layout
Did the flush fix your transmission?
I bought my 2016 Z06 new in September 2015 and have never had any issues! My seventh vette and by far the best. I do have the new trans fluid because my dealer called me and said to do it at no charge.
Thank you for the C7 transmission issue, fortunately I live in Iowa so I haven’t experienced this issue YET
This is the best video to fix the shuddering issues
Thank you. I just purchased a 2015 Corvette Stingray. It’s doing exactly like yours . Now I wanna take mines to the dealership but I just don’t trust them. So I’m hoping for the best . Thanks again Bro.
Did you get it flushed? Is your car kinda jerking when you come to a complete stop and drive off? Like it's almost kind of slipping a bit in 1st gear? Specifically in Eco mode? Thanks
Did you flush your transmission?
How many miles is yours? I just bought a 2015 with 80k
I just had my corvette flushed today. Awesome ride now. You right on point bruh about Florida. I live in Florida as well.
I bought a 2020 Colorado at 6k miles that had the same symptoms as your C7. Dealer did the flush.. So far I made it to 25k miles without the problem coming back...yet.. I have a C7 but it has the 7 speed trans 🙂
Thank you so much for this video i recently purchased a 2017 GS will ask the dealer if this has been done
Dude my god.. Iv been dealing with this problems for MONTHS.. fixing to go try this flush out ! Thank you!
Hope it works out for you! Cheers!
Did the flush fix your issue?
Lovin that Warrior shirt to bro!
just got my Camaro back today. It is a 2016, so GM did NOT cover the transmission fluid flush's with the new Mobil 1 blue label ATF fluid. I had to pay out of pocket, and it was pricey. Also got the rear differential changed while I was at it. The shudder is gone..... FOR NOW. I hope it really does not come back
Bought a 2016 C7 2LT Z51 two weeks ago. Had this issue. Having service own Monday.
I thought I was the only one. I bought mine last month. I'm taking my 2015 Z51 with 7,200k miles on it 2mro. I hope they honor their Service Bulletin 🤞
I have a 2016 (base) Stingray automatic. Had been experiencing the transmission "shutter" as you call it. In actuality, in cruise control "D' mode (not manual) at road speed (60-70), you would see the tach jump up and then back down about 200 rpm every 7 or 8 seconds...and yes, it felt like you were hitting construction joints in the roadway. No noises...no violent car moves. When put in "manual" mode it will not do this. What I have found is that GM in their wisdom to make all the gas mileage from the LT1 that they could, caused issues with the trans. It cycles in and out from 8-cylinder...to 4-cylinder mode. My fix...I had a mechanic update the firm ware to "cut-off" the 4-cylinder mode totally. Mine stays in 8-cylinder all the time now and I no longer have the shutter issue. I do not use "eco" mode at all...never did. Next thing to do....I'm having the transmission flushed and filter changed to Mibil 1. That should help the trans overall.
What you are describing is also a common issue but different from the one I described. Most GM V8's seem to be prone to AFM/DFM issues as you describe. They have been for years. This issue is more specific to the lifter deactivation. The one I describe is narrowed down to transmission fluid. The cylinder deactivation has been a long lasting issue that GM refuses to admit and there are a lot of ways to get around it. Most people (me as well) have resorted to purchasing a AFM disabler device. Go on Amazon and search "GM cylinder deactivation" and you will find plug ins to get around this concern. Cheers!
When you drive in manual with the paddles it states in V8 mode
I've been dealing with this issue since I bought my 2017 Camaro brand new. Took the car to two different dealerships and the said they found nothing wrong with the car that I just needed to drive it more and the issue should go away. Now my car is no longer under warranty and I'm afraid I'm going to be stuck with a $600 bill to have my transmission flushed. Thank you for the info on the GM bulletin.
got mine today, cost me over 600 bucks as well. NO one who owns one of these should have to pay for this shit regardless if you are out of warranty or not.
First off that is the sickest corvette going!! 🔥🔥. Thanks for the service bulletin number I will be printing that off tomorrow….2 weeks ago I bought a 2018 Camaro and guess what I’m dealing with!! Do this will help for sure thank u!
Cheers kind sir! Hope it all works out!
@@SebastianBalosthank you 🤞
I have a 2014 Z51, it shudders a little when the car enter V8 to V4. I bought the range finder device and the shuddering is gone. Maybe this is a different issue? What would you say.
In my case the shudder was very noticeable and a fluid change did fix it without doing anything to the Active Fuel Management cylinder de-activation. There was no AFM disabler used before and after the fluid change.
C7. My favourite Corvette. Beautiful car!
ive got some major issues. I had same problems. dealership worked on it. Now I took it to another dealership. They told me they put the stator tube in wrong. Causing torque tube bearings to fail. Now I get a very loud rattling. there are parts broken off rattling around inside. Chevy refused to address it and says now it out of warranty its all on me. I have a 2015 3lt. so now they said $5300 repair or a very reputable trans shop $2800. The other day I tried to start it , so loud it was like parts getting wedged the engine would barely run clanking and normal rpm is 650 it would fluctuate to 1200 down to 400 or so back and forth. so shut it down and started and shut off 3 different times now its back to the shuddering and rattling around the 1900 rpm range. now about a year ago the fluid was flushed and changed seemed to help but now major issues. I have 76,850 miles. btw every shop is quoting over 18.5 hrs labor getting in the transmission.
Man that sucks.
Get outside warranty, hope they don't inspect it. Then go to Chevrolet and have it fixed. Cost me $400 deductible, would have been $8900.
Man, thank you for this video. Appreciate ya! ✌️
@subs house is this applies on C7 or Z06 manual? or only on automatic? thanks! 🙏🏼
@@EasyTechTrading just the automatics. cheers!
This issue is affecting Camaros, and some pick up models as well. There is a class action lawsuit against GM for their crappy transmissions, GM knew these transmissions were faulty. The fluid flush had to be done to my '18 C7 a few yrs ago under the warranty, and the shuddering has just started back up again. I've seen some videos recommending a fuel management system deactivation module that will eliminate the shuddering. I'm going to try that next instead of going with a new torque converter that the dealer has recommended (now that the warranty has expired).
Yeah that's good info and it's one for the road.
Could this be the same culprit for having slight issues putting it into drive or reverse? I go to put it in D/R and it hesitates at first and then kind of lunges/lurks/studders...Only seems to happen on cold starts. Once she's warm and I drive it around for a bit, it doesn't seem to happen at all. 2015 Z06
From experience I would say that a transmission fluid flush/replacement is the cheapest, easiest and first approach to troubleshooting an issue. Good luck! Cheers!
Did you ever figure out the issue?
@@codyboykin4425 Unfortunately, no. I changed out my transmission fluid, new filter, it may have made a slight increase, but it still does it. But after a lot of research it seems this is a very "common" issue with the older C7's.
Question what happened when you changed the fluidd to mobil 1 sintetic thank nice video 🙏🙏👌👌👍👍
Thanks for the info. Just bought a 2019 auto and was wondering if I should just get the flush and new fluid regardless ?
I think its a good move to do so if the dealer will do it for free. just complain that it shutters even if it doesnt. Cheers!
It’s exactly what I did . I told them I had the issue ( but I really didn’t ), they never asked once I told him I had the problem
I have the shudder at low throttle in 6/7 gears. Found out why the guy sold the car 😅. Hopefully the fluid flush fixes it for me. I will do it myself.
A long story short shudder problem is in the Ford that uses the same trans mission you can change the fluid. If you want to stop it use instant shudder fix .
Bought a 19 GS and started to notice this. Feels like my rear tire(s) was out of balance and it is a inconsistent subtle vibration. Taking to the dealer next week
I have a 2016 cts vsport and I’ve had the dealership replace the fluid and filter twice on my dime and if I’m cruising around 45 to 60 it feels like it jerking, does this sound about right
It's hard to say. The fluid change should solve the core issue. I will say that I sometimes "question" a stiff "sport/race" suspension setting to be similar as well.. but yea.. hard to say what you are experiencing. The V4 to V8 thing also seems to be a question as well. Cheers.
Hey man I I just traded in my 2014 Vsport. Do you have a Toyota transmission as did I. The issue may actually be misfire related. Misfires can feel similar to this shudder. I had my trans fluid replaced. Do you know if they used the correct Toyota WS fluid? I had mine flushed as the dealer using that fluid that was brought from the Toyota dealer. It was a pleasant experience. I did it for regular maintenance
@@SeanPennII yeah they used the correct fluid because I bought it and they just did the job . I changed the plugs and coils also and it still jerks only when it warms up and in 8th gear around 51 mph it’s crazy
@@tjsworld2338 yeah I replaced my coils and plugs and it never did fix my misfire issue. I also had a rough idle.
So does it also making a rattling sound ? My car is rattling a lot but not while
Driving only when it
Stands still on lower rpm
No rattling sound in my case. sounds are always a bit of a hard one to figure out. Good luck.
@@SebastianBalos thanks buddy
I just bought a 2019 grand sport with 23 k no problems detected...
I have a 2019 zo6 and never experienced any issues. When I first bought it in 19 I immediately bought the predator tune to remove that terrible AFM bullshit. Car runs like a top.
my 2016 Cadillac ATS is having this problem. is this something GM fixes for free or will I have to pay for this?
I just bought a 2016 3LT with 2K miles today and it did this like crazy on my 400 mile drive home
Mine started doing it and they said it was the transmission, so I ended up selling the c7 😞
Is it going into v4 mode??
Any issues with it at all since the flush ?
No. No issues since.
Is there a bulletin id?
Does this damage the transmission parts at all? Will there be a long term issues?
It feels scary at first but you will very likely be fine after a fluid swap. Go to GM with the print out and start from there. Cheers!
@@SebastianBalos appointment already scheduled for this Friday...I assume it is safe to drive, as long as I don't rag on it?
@@LayneSteighlee i drove it in manual and used the pedals to keep me above 2000rmp range. It seems to not slip above 2000rpm. At least in my case. Cheers!
@@LayneSteighlee did the flush solve your issue?
@@imthirstyh2o330 I have since sold the car…but yep, it fixed the issue 100%.
I know from the experience. The torque converter on these are still junk!
Hey, thanks for the info. I took my Zo sex to the dealer today and they want to charge me $600 to get the job done( triple fluid flush with Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP) . Isn't it something to be covered under warranty(still got 20 days left on powertrain), or did you pay anything outta pocket?
I was in warranty and it was covered. i didn't pay a dime.
@@SebastianBalos Got trans fluid drain and fill done on my car to fix the shudder. The problem is still there... Waste of money.
@@garysargsyan4998 if its still in warranty keep pushing the subject. if its out of warranty, unfortunately, its not going to be fun figuring this out. GL
I didn’t have the issue on my 16 , but I forced them to do the triple service flush anyway . The other fixes to dive it in the manual mode if you have paddle shifters ( the car won’t drop into v4 mode )
If it's due to HIGH humidity states won't it continue to get in the Transmission!!
im no expert but the way I understand it is that the moisture content reacts worse with the original fluid. but yes, I would not call this a one time end all be all transmission fluid change. This moisture theory was what was going at the time of the video. There may be more to it.
This hasn’t aged well
💯👍🏼
TSB, it's not the same as a recall. GM or Chevy would not pay for the service $595 at a Chevy dealer 🙄
You think thats nuts, i seen a young girl with such a defective mouth she had a "Ready for Gumjob" smile. Poor soul bless her heart. Hey but loved this vid bro im a looking to get me a C7 stinkray hopefully a Z51 (cuz the brake system) and this is educational thank you
You neeed range technology
Manual, or 10 speed, 2SS Camaro it is..
Balos living that good life! Trans fluid expert, lol. What a joke u have to put up with that man, sorry for that.
I noticed the issue the day i drove it home from the dealership. I was so pissed but basically to late to back out of it. Luckily it was an easy fix.
I repeat F the dealer go to a really respected great trans shop get it flushed properly at 26k miles or less. ..you wont regret it.
Niisand
I KNOW u didn’t do all that driving and not let us hear the sound??!! Lol
Here in the Great State of OHIO it will cost you around $1000......GM will NOT cover it......
1:00 lol
put it in manual and paddle shift, wont happen
This is true! just keep the RPM's up and you won't notice it!
Boo who.....
GM sucks,,, buy Mercedes Benz
Hahaha
Thanks I just bought one used and it's jerking like hell in 7 and 8. You may have just saved a used car salesmans ass. 🥺
Hope this works out for you! Cheers!
Did flush fix it?
