Equalizer hitch is The best. Thank you for also "crossing" the safety chains. I drove tow-truck for many years and transported RVs too. I have had the opportunity to use and try MANY different types of "weight distribution" and sway control set ups..
I've got this older version. Still going strong! Great video and thanks for a great refresher as I had to re-setup a new truck and camper ( when I sold the old combo I kept this Equalizer!)
For all of you RV newbies out there researching hitches. This is the one for you! Stay away from the ones that use chains and a separate sway control device.
that angle set bolt has really been giving me some problems for some reason. It actually loosened up and got bent so that I couldn't tighten it up or back it out. Its in the shop now. Ive had the hitch for about 3 weeks and I have been fighting this angle bolt issue every since. Hopefully I find the cause of the issue. it may have been due to me not tightening the bolt upa second time up after I locking the hitch head and attaching the sway bars like the video suggested. After its attached next time, Ill double/triple check the angle set bolt. Probably a rookie mistake.......thanks for the vid!
Hi, I'm an older male (74). What is the weight of the hitch unit? Would it be to heavy to do by myself? I'd hate to have it fall and land on me wrong; that'd be a bummer way to end a trip! Thanks for any ideas/suggestions. Y'all Be Safe!
You forgot to mention the part where, after hooking up the tow vehicle, you raise the jack so that it lifts up the rear of the truck, and the trailer tongue, making it easier to lock the bars into the holders. If the bars just easily go onto the holders when you lower the trailer onto the ball, the hitch isn't even doing anything. It should be impossible to get the bars onto the holders when you lower the trailer onto the ball. When it is in that position, the bars should be slightly pointing at the ground if you were to insert them into their brackets on the hitch. You have to lower the hitch onto the ball, lock it on, then RAISE the jack, which lifts the rear of the truck, AND the trailer tongue. When you do that, you'll see that the bars will now be slightly pointed UP. Now you can lock them onto the holders, and then LOWER the jack. If you're going to do a "how to" video, don't leave out crucial information.
I am a newbie. You said to unhitch do it in reverse. I had to use the jack to lift the bar. How do I use the jack to unhitch? Do I use it by pounding on the bar until it comes off the L bracket?
Just installed one today. It corrected ALL my sway issues. I love it.

raising the trailer with the jack should take enough weight off the bars so you can remove it from the bracket.
Magick50 thanks for the reply... we went to a travel trailer shop and he showed us how.
