Exo not only is from SM but is one of their most moneymakers. Exo are legends, top tier talented idols. They are the holders of the Guinness World Record for fastest sold out tour, beating their previous record of 0.4 seconds, with a solid 0.2sec. These guys are stage animals, they sound better live than recorded, dancers, actors, musicians, luxury brand ambassadors, producers, idols trainers and a lot more. Watching a live show of Exo is a whole experience, never seen performances like that. Their discography is full of gems and no matter what mood you are in, there is an Exo song for it. They experiment with genres and nail it even when doing solo work. Gorgeous people inside and outside, Exo members are talented af. If you'll ever watch El Dorado live (I'll recommend that, tho), keep in mind that Disney saw that performance and called them to Collab for the SK promotions of the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens. the rapper youre talking about is Chanyeol, who is their main rapper. but the guy with black hair was also part of the rap section, the lead rapper Sehun. Chanyeol actually started out as a vocalist and musician, but his voice was good for rapping and he was the best at it out of the trainees so the company had him rap for exo. he's a really good singer too, as are the rest of them. exo is still together, they just dont have comebacks frequently. its always been that way, but since 2019 theyve had members enlisting in the military so its even less often. all the members have successful solo careers though.

He has a talent for rapping just like other EXO members. EXO does not have a standard lineup where the members play an unalterable role. Chanyeol has never classified himself as a rapper.

If you wanted vocals you definitely came to the right group! EXO are known as the Vocal Kings of Kpop mainly because we have the vocal trinity: main vocal line Chen, D.O., and Baekhyun. But ALL members are great singers. They are still a group, but while members are in and out of the military, they focus on solo projects. They're SMs best selling artists and still the most popular.

EXO is an amazing group, a legend. They're great as a group and as individuals. As a group their chemistry and harmony are perfect. They also have so many achievement and set the standard in the industry. They're known as the Kpop vocal kings. As individuals, each member is incredibly talented that can stand on their own as an artist (7/9 members has debuted as soloist with different styles and genres). They're like a bunch of soloists united in a group.
In my opinion, they're the most complete and versatile group. Their discography is impeccable, so vast and diverse. They have something for everyone. If you like the rap in Monster, I suggest Lightsaber MV(only short version). It's a collaboration project with Star Wars. Xiumin, D.O, Suho, Chen and Chanyeol have already served and came back from military service. Baekhyun will finish his service early next year. Kai and Sehun have still not gone. Lay (only Chinese member hasn't been able to perform with them for a few years because of tensions between China and Korea but finally he was able to.) By the way, check out Lay's solo stuff as well. All of EXO solos works are really good. They are very good at R&B.

Several things wrong:
Exo has several members who rap, Chanyeol, Sehun, Xiumin and Kai, occasionally Baekhyun as well.

EXO has a definite vocal line the trinity of KPop Baekhyun, Chen and D.O. Lead vocal Suho and Xumin. The rap line is is Chanyeol and Sehun, the Dance line is Kai, Lay and Sehun.
They have not presented as a group since 2019 but they are still a group they have not disbanded.. The member are doing individual solo projects as members are serving in the military. Some members have already completed service and we are expecting a group comeback in 2023. And their solo projects are amazing! They are the legendary in KPop debuted in 2012 with 12 members . Are 9 members . Member Lay has not been able to perform with EXO since about 2016-17 because of political tension between China & South Korea. He had a huge career and is King in China but he is still a part ok EXO. Check out EXO ‘s Tempo if you wanna hear incredible vocals and “EXO’s vocals are the best in K-Pop”

I love how every year we change the number of exo members being solo artists. last year we were like 6/9 members are successful solo artist, this year 7 and next year we will say 8(Chanyoel will bring his solo too soon) 😂 EXO-L's biggest flex is our boys are complete as group and also complete as individual solo artists.

All the members of Exo can lowky rap BTW.. Tho they have 2 rappers.. Then even have sub- rapper... And they've been in the industry for 10 years, way before blackpink debuted.. Kpop have incorporated rap for many years, pretty much all the groups include it, that includes girl groups, but some do it more than others. Black pink do it well, but they were far from the first. As a really general view, those groups who have pushed in the west have included more English and more rap to appeal more to this market, which is a very intelligent move.
Different groups are defined as vocal groups or rap groups or dance groups because of their special talents and emphasis. EXO, like most in SM are called a Performance Group as they are good on all levels - to see them at their best you need to see their live performances where their love of performance, their energy and tremendous talents come together.
Yes they are part of SM, in fact, the joke is that EXO built the SM buildings as they earn so much more than other groups. They are pretty much the standard for the 3rd generation, also being called the Powerhouse of Kpop because of their success. Transitioning into the 4th generation, they have been focusing on solo work as since 2019 their members have been going into military service and have not produced much as a group. They have two more yet to go in, but they have a short window early next year where they are expected to do a comeback album.
The members have been rotating in an out of mandatory military enlistment. Five are done, one is currently in (3 months left), and the two youngest haven’t gone yet. There are three main vocalists-Baekhyun, Chen, and D.O.-all highly respected in the industry; that’s a lot for one group, even in SM. The majority of members are also soloists at this point, most with multiple albums. One (Doh Kyungsoo aka D.O.) is a highly respected actor with multiple movies and TV shows under his belt.
As you continue your EXO journey, bear in mind that (1) they’re even better live, and (2) their B-sides are bangers.

Thank you for reaction! I'm hoping you will check EXO out more. They really have mots incredible vocals I have ever heard. Btw the group name is pronounced as XO (not really E-X-O). Our fandome name is called EXO-L (which stands for EXO-Love). EXO debuted in 2012 with 12 members and were devided into 2 subunits, EXO-K that sang and promoted songs in korean and EXO-M that promoted and sang songs in mandarine. So L is letter in between K and M in order: EXO-K, EXO-L, EXO-M :) also which is interesting EXO was one of the first kpop groups who debuted with storyline. Since then, till this day, in group comebacks and even through member's solos, there's a storyline going on. All members (EXO has 9 members now) have superpower concept. Each member has specific superpower (wind, light, fire, earth/force, teleportation, thunder, ice, water and healing). You can check EXO-MAMA MV for more information. There's brief explaination of their concept there :) Also to answer some of your questions, yes EXO is still a group but members have to go through mandatory military service so it's hard to do comebacks when members are missing so, as a group, they are on hiatus right now but will be coming back soon. We hope to get new music next year haha but we will see. Untill then, members are ocused on solo stuff and promotions more. Kai is one of the exo soloist too yes :) please also check EXO-Obsession mv, EXO- Kokobop mv and EXO-Tempo mv. Hi! EXO is a multi-talented group, so versatile that singers can rap, rappers can sing & all members can dance impeccably. This group is considered as the vocal kings of Kpop. They're known for their trendsetting musical experimentation & stage presence. EXO may have been inactive as a group due to conscription but they maintain their popularity & continue to influence new gen of Kpop. EXO is the first group to sell out over 1M copies of their 1st album in 2013 after a record selling drought of 12 years in Korea. Their song GROWL was a super hit, it became like a national anthem there while LoveShot is an international phenomenon. They also have masterpeices like TEMPO, OBSESSION, OVERDOSE, CALL ME BABY and a lot more in their discography including this song Monster.

Omg there's so much stuff they literally cover almost all the genres and they create new ones too so... More you dive deep, the more you get... Unlike many of other groups they don't make two similar songs all are unique from each other same goes with mamamoo...

Love your reaction. Fun fact is that Exo has contributed a large share for SM’s success. As a music producer you should check more of Exo and their live because they are vocal powerhouse and you will be surprised by the versatility of exo’s discography. Even b side tracks of exo are famous. Because of their vocal, the rap and dance of exo are very underrated. It is really a wholesome group
As an SM Entertainment group, for anyone that knows SM, it shouldn't be a surprise that EXO are such outstanding singers and performers. You can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills. All of SM's artists were first chosen for their visuals, vocals and/or dance skills, and even the rappers receive intense vocal training. That is why the company has gained the reputation as the vocal powerhouse of the industry, who also happens to have some of Kpop's top dancers. When it comes to SM, this is just the skill level we have come to expect. SM is an expert at finding and developing the best singers and dancers in Kpop. And EXO is a perfect example of that.
SM's rappers are impressive rappers, but because they are members of SM it means they are also top vocalists. So the reason why SM isn't necessarily known for their rappers is because those rappers aren't just rappers, they can really do it all.
The main rappers are Chanyeol with the red hair and Sehun who you see next to Chanyeol in the back of the police van in "Monster". The main vocalists are D.O., Baekhyun and Chen and they each have their own distinct high note style in "Monster", so it all depends on what part of the song you are talking about as to which one was doing the high note at that moment. However, any one of the members of EXO could fill in as a main vocalist and several of the members are also sub-rappers, so they are all multi-talented.
SM is the company that founded the Kpop industry with the very first Kpop idol group H.O.T. (Highfive Of Teenager) back in 1996, and they are now one of the largest and most influential entertainment companies in Korea and around the world. SM is one of the most innovative and trendsetting companies in Korea.
Oh and please, MAMA is a must see. It is their debut song and their concept will be more clear to you when you will watch other videos. Nibody has ever topped that debut in the whole music industry in my opinion. Exo is pronounced as XO. They are not disbanded. They are currently not active as a group because some are in the military. So it is mostly solo work. And one of the members Lay (remaining Chinese member of Exo) is in China and cannot join them due to political tensions between S.Korea and China.

In order to understand the story in EXO's "Monster" MV, as well as all of EXO's content, you have to know that it's all connected, and every new piece that's introduced explains a little more of EXO's story. Each MV is like another chapter in SM Entertainment's SM Culture Universe storyline and it's all part of a larger story that also includes the majority of SM's other groups' and artists' storylines. It's like one giant graphic novel or mystery movie series.
Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything -- including all of their MVs, the majority of their sub-sub-unit MVs and members' solo MVs, teaser videos, concert stages, concert VCRs (videos played in between sets at concerts) and choreography, as well as special content included with their albums, etc. -- is designed to help tell a little more of EXO's story.
EXO debuted back in 2012, and from the very beginning their concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have come to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. And as otherworldly beings, each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them.
Exo (pronounced like X O), as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary. The group's concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents.
"Monster" was released in 2016, so there are 9 members in this MV.
As the English lines in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy." The song's called "Monster," so the words are about acting like a monster: "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... I'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo."
So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- also supposed to be the members using their superpowers. And the snake, like a monster, mirrors the beat of the song, which kind of slithers like a snake as a metaphor for the way the guy slithers in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc. The snake is also red, which means that it most likely represents something to do with the the Red Force.
However, the lyrics of the song have very little to do with the story in the MV. If you want to understand the song, you should look up an English translation of the lyrics. Because the lyrics tell a different story than the story in the MV. In the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. But the MV is about EXO's origin story and about the fact that they have come to Earth on a mission.
Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so when/if you watch the dance practice and/or a live performance, if you know what you are looking for, you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason. The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography.
Every move of the choreography has been designed to be an extension of their story and it uses elements of their dance to represent several of the members using their powers. For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When you see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun.
You should also make note that "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster," so when you watch their "Lotto" MV, just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after or in conjunction with the events in "Lotto".
How "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline is a little open ended, but because "Lotto" is thought to be the prequel to "Monster," I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys who are probably members of the Red Force.
"Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Force, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So, that's why you see in "Lotto," and continued in "Monster," the members are fighting against the police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. However, the members of EXO don't want to be discovered, so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. EXO are supposed to be going about their tasks here on Earth incognito, and humanity is never supposed to find out that EXO are other-worldly beings, so they are trying to keep a low profile.
As we see in the end of "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape from the back of the police van before they are taken to jail and/or captured by the Red Force, etc. (However, if you look closely, the members who are in the back of the police van are dressed in red, so the ones who Baekhyun rescued may be X-EXO and not EXO like we originally thought. Although I'm not sure whether at this point Baekhyun realizes these aren't the EXO members. Or maybe Baekhyun is also a member of X-EXO. Just another giant mystery we have yet to solve.)
You also see Lay, EXO's Chinese member, crouched in the middle of what looks like a pile of people -- I'm not sure whether these are the FBI agents, or if these are members of the Red Force -- and I think he is checking to make sure they are OK and possibly trying to use his power of healing to fix things and heal the injured.
Because some theories believe that EXO are traveling between time periods and dimensions, I think in "Monster" they also might be showing how some of the members are arriving on scene at different moments in the timeline of events that are taking place in the MV -- the members don't necessarily arrive at the location together -- as explained in their Pathcode teaser videos leading up to their "Call Me Baby" comeback. For instance, in "Monster" you also see Kai standing on or near a giant pile of people as well, and he seems to be standing over them. Some have pointed to this as possibly showing evil X-EXO Kai -- Kai's alter ego clone that was created by the Red Forced and introduced in EXO's "Obsession" MV -- who has done something bad, but I think this may be showing good EXO Kai, who has just shown up at that moment, observing what has taken place. Because Kai has the power of teleportation he is the one that is in charge of bringing the members together and traveling between time and space, so I think he has shown up from a different time or place and is now trying to figure out what has happened, etc.
In EXO's "Obsession" MV the members in the bright colored clothing with the crazy makeup and hair are supposed to be X-EXO and the ones in the black or dark colored clothing are supposed to be EXO. So, in the parts where they are dressed in all black in "Monster" I think this is showing EXO, and where you see them in the clothing with red accents, this might by showing X-EXO. At the time when "Monster" was first released, we had no idea about X-EXO's existence, but since "Obsession", we have started to go back and reanalyze some of their older MVs, and it appears that what we thought was always EXO, may have been in fact X-EXO some of the time.
As you can see, EXO's story is always evolving and changing, and just when you think you have one part understood, SM introduces a new piece of the story and changes the direction of the narrative.
Also pay attention to when you see red and blue. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or red objects this is where the Red Force has control, and when you see blue light or blue objects this is where EXO has the upperhand. However, if you see purple or red and blue in the same scene this is when EXO and the Red Force are battling for control -- red and blue mixed together make purple.
Unfortunately, as you can see, what makes EXO's storyline even more difficult to follow is the fact that nothing is ever in chronological order. So you really have to pay close attention to every detail, to even begin to make connections.
AAYEEEEE MORE EXO
EXO is a vocal-centric group, so even the rappers are vocalists. Like SUJU, EXO has 3 main vocalists, and they are D.O., Baekhyun and Chen. Their main rappers are Chanyeol and Sehun and they have a sub-unit called EXO-SC. Baekhun, one of the main vocalists, is the highest-selling solo artist in Korea.

That rapper, Chanyeol is a versatile artist.he can rapp, good in singing and can play many instruments too. He's also an actor.. actually all the 9 exo members is actors. You should check out their remix + live versions (concert version) of most of their songs. It is really amazing.

just an fyi, exo is not an acronym, it's pronounced "ek-so". and Kai is pronounced "kye", not "kay". also they debuted back in 2012. rapping was pretty much always a big part of kpop, but SM prioritizes vocals more, while companies like YG (eg blackpink) prioritize hip hop and rapping. the group that really solidified kpop rapping is big bang, and the girl group was 2ne1 :)

One of the cool things about EXO is they cover a lot in terms of musical genre. They're definitely under KPop, but their songs have a wide scope. But whether they're doing ballads or dance songs, or songs like Monster and Obsession, their vocals are always topnotch. Their rappers (Chanyeol, Sehun, Kai) can sing too.

I strongly recommend & advice you to start at the very beginning of EXO's career if you truly would like to get to know them better. You'll see their true talent & growth, they're actually the ones who inspired everyone else that came after them.
The name is pronounced as XO, there is no dashes or periods to create a pause between each letter. Only during fanchants in concerts & in their songs it's made to be said as E-X-O in order to go w/the flow of the music & lyrics. Our fandom name is EXO-L it means EXO-LOVE represents love only for EXO & their slogan is "WE ARE ONE." Our name is extremely important & has a much deeper meaning than most fandoms out there. The backstory is far too long & deep to get into in a comment, only vids can truly show you a smudge of what EXO went through.
Their debut was way back in 2012, consisted of 12 members (formally) now standing w/9 currently members. No they're not disband, they're still a very active group but currently is in small hiatus cuz the members are serving in the military. 7 out of 9 have solo projects & careers to keep the members active.
EXO is a world record breaking group. Literally breaking records that hadn't even been touched in decades both as a whole group & as soloists. They focus more on real & raw performance rather than the money. They're also extremely diverse in their music, they're duality is impeccable. They can & have done many different genres from ballads to rap, hip hop, modern, rock & even acapella to name a few.
They were trained to literally do everything w/o fail. EXO's rappers can sing & the singers can rap, all members can obviously dance & they're also actors & models. All the members are multi talented, so yes, there's so much when it comes to EXO.
Trust us, you'll want more of them each time. They're currently working on their comeback which hopefully will be by next year, so get ready if you want more of them.

Yesss EXO's vocal productions is *the best in kpop!* It's partly bcuz they're *"The Vocal Kings of Kpop"* so *vocals* is the most prioritized thing from the group (although they also excel in other aspects like dance, music, concept, and performances), and they also can hold their own when it comes to live performances. EXO's live vocal performances is the best in kpop! Btw, "rap" has always been a part of kpop, not just since bl*ckpink. I've been a fan of kpop since 2005, so... Anyway, EXO has 3 incomparable main vocalists, the only way I can describe them is that one is like the "Celine Dion" of the group (Chen), one is the "Whitney Houston" (D.O.), and one is like the "Mariah Carey" in the group. And then, the rest of the members are also amazing singers. By the way, EXO as a group is currently on an unofficial hiatus, since the members are getting through their military enlistments duty. Two are still yet starting their military duty, and one will be released early next year, and the rest have finished their duties. But, it's said that they will have a comeback (early?) next year. Right now, most members are focusing on their solo careers, since 7 out of current 9 members are successful solo artists, and most of them are successful actors & models too!

From my point of view...what make them so good is the fact that the music is always a backup to support their incredibles vocals...they have such good harmonies in their songs that they don't even need backup music...check their song Tempo, you will understand my point....
Their title tracks are incredibles but their B-sides are also just insane !Jekyll from their album Obsession, Runaway from Don't fight the feeling,El Dorado from Exodus,Universe one of their winter albums is sooo amazing too i wouldn't be able to choose one of their b-sides here...lol
Gravity and Sign from their album Tempo....etc etc....you always have a lot of fantastic b-sides on their album...

I want to clarify several issues. First of all, Blackpink were not the pioneers in introducing rap lines in songs, long before 2016, the so-called 2nd and 3rd generation groups introduced rap lines. Kpop was born in the 90's with hiphop groups. Blackpink's sound is an evolution of their predecessors 2NE1, a girl group from the previous generation.
The standard format of Kpop groups is made up of 2 or 3 vocalists, choirs and rappers with unchangeable assignments, so it is customary to qualify EXO members in the same way. But not all groups have that standard formation and this is one of them. Exo is composed of 9 vocalists, 6 tenors and 3 baritones, according to the song they sing more or less lines to achieve a perfect harmonization. Several members alternate rap lines in many songs, there are two that are more common but are not considered rappers because their vocal lines are more abundant. It should be noted that EXO is an R&B and Funk group that fuses these genres with electronic, jazz and urbanpop, it is a formation that does not follow trends and has its own style. Knowing EXO implies ignoring the success of Love Shot because it is a song that does not represent them, it only went viral for its sexy dance.
All EXO members have posted singing solo or in sub-units. Even those who are wrongly called rappers, like Chanyeol (the tallest guy of all) who is a multi-instrumentalist musician, producer, composer, DJ and a famous singer of soft ballads OST.

You must react to FILM Kai which is sampling of of Kai’s first mini album songs and mmmh and peaches. All are the most amazing imo but I am absolutely bias. Kai’s the whole package as a performer he has the absolute best facial expressions and aura no matter the concept. I could go on and on.

Do you react to solo performers? If you do I would highly, strongly, emphatically react to Dimash Kudaibergen. He is from Kazakhstan and about 27-28 years old. He became literally an overnight phenomenon in China when he was a participant in The Singer 2019. Most people first listen to SOS, which he sings in French. His fan base, the Dears are every bit as strong and supportive as EXOLs!
