Nicely put together video. Probably worth mentioning that the part of the castle that has collapsed isn't Tudor, though! It's been extended several times over its history and this part is Victorian.
Hello. I'm a local freestyle FPV pilot in SLO County. I was thinking about having some buddies do long range flying all around there and came across this video. It's beautiful. That's a shame down there.
I really annoyed that this was allowed to happen English Heritage were supposed to be looking after it this is just due to poor management they were apparently warned there was a problem with erosion hopefully they will restore it ASAP Hurst Castle is a national treasure
Thats a shame, looks like an incredible structure! At least you documented it with your drone for future ref. I'm sure it will be repaired and restored. Looks like the sea eroded or weakened the foundations maybe?
This is so sad to see. I went there as a child. When I want to think outside of the present I remember the fort. I came here today to take my mind off present troubles., and I see this has happenned. Its as though even the past is being eaten away by Langoleers. A very pretty video, but nothing compares to walking around and into the fortress.
Funny how it survived hundreds of years being battered by the sea but as soon as English Heritage get hold of it and convert it into another money spinner...
Great to capture this mate, I can't believe they didn't put some big rocks around this before it got that bad to actually collapse! They have no common sense! :-(
It is indeed terrible to thing something this old, even though there are newer sections. At least it seems to me it has been upgraded through time, probably even for WW2. Just like the forts out in the Solent. It would have been nice if one of the Trusts would have stepped in and done something, rather than some of the things that we hear across the pond. At least with the collapse it will give engineers a better clue as to how it was constructed and how to better protect it. And maybe more a history of it's progressive changes.
Great footage, shame about the wall. It doesn't seem as that whole section was re-enforced with rebar or and of the earlier versions...which is why it collapsed when it was starting to subside. Obviously difficult to tell fully without a closer look...hint hint hint..
Great footage mate .you should get a W.A.S.P maned Ariel platform .matt could fly it!but I guess it has gone the same way as the AH-56 Cheyenne .superseeded by Huey helicopters and just goes to prove its not what you know ..its who you know.!if they don't like you .Your screw fixed.also as a side note there's some music to the 70 s documentary that isent copywriter so you could take that.
It's a shame that the National Trust ever let it get that bad - and to be frank, a pretty poor show for an organisation that claims conservation of heritage assets as its raison d'etre. Still, they'll raise the money to pay for the repair within a week of lockdown ending - out of charges for launching drones. A recent debate in Parliament reported major weaknesses in the management of the National Trust across their property portfolio, particularly in relation to their handling of tenancies. For too long, its quasi-monopoly has been indulged because of unquestioned proclamations of good intentions. This incident is evidence that an organisation that receives so much public money and bears such great responsibilities ought, surely, to be subject to far greater public scrutiny. If you or I allowed a scheduled ancient monument to fall into such a state of disrepair that it collapsed, we would find ourselves in court and responsible for the cost of the repair - even if that meant bankruptcy. The National Trust, however, will just find itself in receipt of an even bigger grant from the taxpayer.
The gooberment will waste MILLIONS in repairing this useless edifice, whilst thousands are homeless or living in squalour ! Way to go ( NOT ) gooberment !
Nice one mate!! Awesome shots
Thanks mate! Yeah real good shots. Blue sky always helps!
All that damage by a drone must have been a big drone
Yeah probably a military type drone

Yeah just lack of funding to maintain it I think.
Beautiful video!
Thanks!

@@ExploringWithin well it’s going to cost them a lot more now to put that right! Should’ve applied for a lottery grant?
@@PaulsRoadshow Yeah a lot more money now. And yeah maybe!

Well done you. Shame you never got down lower, and went up close, to show the erosion. Or even inside the building.
Thanks! My signal to the controller was dipping so didn’t want to risk connection issue
Such a shame, love walking round here and sitting on the cannons. I am sure they will fix it up. Great footage.
Thanks!

Just a shame you obviously failed to follow the new Drone safety guidelines.
I think no matter what you do people will always be unhappy with drone flying, thus...

Actually it's English Heritage, not National Trust.
@@hcsadmin7199 My bad. English Heritage should get their act together then... too.
Torpedo
Does look like it!
