I’m gonna try and say this without ego involved. I’m a writer. A novelist, to be specific. Point is, I use words for a living. I spend a lot of time studying other writers, because obviously that’s how you get better. Having said that, after watching this clip, I had to say this: Christ almighty, this guy is a wordsmith. For anyone who hasn’t been exposed to the theory/technique of writing as it pertains to the scientific approach of the craft, take my word for it - this guy is absolutely brilliant. Good writing (or in this case good poetry, because that’s basically what rap is), requires a certain degree of natural talent insofar as the writer must maintain a certain affinity for rhythm and a sort of intangible flow. Considering that...this guy just displayed complete mastery of said concepts. Personally, I listen to rap to extrapolate the lyrics as a means to try and gain insight into their creative process and delivery - which, again, is the only way anyone will ever get better at their discipline. But after hearing this clip, I felt the need to comment, because if anyone out there is trying to make it in the writing game, you need to study the best. And this, I assure you, is an example of that.
