Enter plenty of open meets. It's a good way to gain competition experience and allows you to out your practice into race conditions. Naturally over the years I stay very calm and relaxed now in events. Get to events EARLY. Allow yourself to get into the know of surrounding do you know where everything is so you don't have to think or have distractions during the event. Don't train hard a day or two before an event. It won't make you better that fast just leave you tired and not fresh
