There seems to be new drugs around and a more manic look in some of the wandering street addicts. Saying that Dublin is safer than Brazil is not saying much!!! The government is allowing thousands of illegal unvetted mainly military-aged men into the country. I have read that 4 out of 5 Irish women feel unsafe in Dublin now. Also, that almost 20% of the population is foreign born. Prior to the "cultural enrichment," there wasn't such a major issue with safety not only in Dublin but also everywhere in Ireland that is experiencing "diversity."

There is also a lot of paranoia around too. Some people are hyping up the fear factor on the internet for their own ends. Of course, you have to have situational awareness wherever you are from. But you have also to be careful with traffic and uneven footpaths, etc. Life has always had risks and evoultion has bred survival skills in us. But the mobile phone causes inattention instead of concentrating on the present moment, because that is all that there is...anyway Dublin is not as bad as Manchester or Birmingham, where you have always to have your senses honed 🛑

In 2018 there was an EU wide survey done of thousands of foreign students attending European universities to find out about their experiences and how accepted they felt. Approximately 10% of those from non European countries reported experiencing verbal, and in some cases physical abuse, at some point in their stay in the UK, this rose to 15% in France and 20% in Spain. However it was Ireland which was way out in front at a shocking 40%. I was very surprised by this, but reading down this entire thread I no longer am.
