    You guys are getting really good at this. And Judah is getting really excellent with the camera and editing. The chatter is good natured and also has that "oneupmanship" rivalry thing happening. The fact that you are so good at trying out different lines and shots makes this even more watchable. I might pick up on some of your ideas and use them in my game although I can only throw half as far.

    • @haigis04
      @haigis04 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@kevinkingmaker7395 I don't have to report back. I've done it. For over 15 years. I've been playing disc golf for almost 20 years, way back into high school. From 2006-2009, I played on the Texas Tech Ultimate Frisbee team, almost going to Nationals. I was also a member of the Lubbock (the city where Texas Tech is) Disc Golf club playing with professional disc golfers when they weren't out touring. And I still play disc golf regularly and some ultimate often with some people at work. My comment was that his angle and high release point of that "flick"/forehand were more related to an ultimate style of throw than disc golf. Now yes, you cannot throw a normal forehand the same way you throw an ultimate disc. That's how you get nose up. But when it comes to that particular shot, along with the scoober, Brodie will always have the advantage because of his muscle memory from all the years of competitive ultimate and trick shots attempts/videos.

    On hole 8, I think you'll see some pros get a bogey by not getting their drives close enough and going OB on the upshot. So there is scoring separation there. I agree that moving the tee farther back and making it a par 4 would make for a better hole. I also remember Climo getting a 2 on that hole with a roller.

  • @slidewayswrx
    @slidewayswrx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hole 8. Milo is my home course, I know, pinch me. When that hole was designed, almost 20 years ago now, the trees guarding the road were smaller. Big up the road was the birdie line. It’s still there, just extra baller now. The other thing is I’ve never seen Milo playing as sticky as it is now. When it is dry that green is super slick making even the most routine approach a nail biter.

    100% agree moving back hole 8 and turning it into a par 4. The current layout doesn’t allow for any score separation and plays as a filler hole when it has potential to be good. If less than 5 people for the weekend get the birdie (probably lucky from wind conditions), its not a good hole. It is a hole where 90% of the field or more plays for an easy par

    @brodie Smith I just listened to you talking about how putting should be harder on foundation. The tee shot is one thing and the green is another. Add more bushes to increase the difficulty of the green. Just because you make a great tee shot should not mean you have to have an unobstructed gimme putt. Unless you park it that is.

    Here in Oklahoma City, we have a hole at Dolese that is over 700 ft and its a par 3. Its just a long dog leg left with no elevation change. In my over 200 rounds of playing that course, I have only par'd it a handful of times. I look at it this way, as long as I don't lose a stroke to my card mates on it, the fact its a par 3 doesn't matter and I move on to the next one. That's how I feel 8 should be looked at.

    I think Brody makes a valid point about the island hole. It really is a tweener for pros. Backing it up into a par four would be an improvement in my opinion. With that said, I find it highly watchable because there is a lot of room for error and it is such an epic two. So I guess I don’t see it as a must fix, but could improve situation. As a par 4 forcing a decision in the 330 to 380 range would be very interesting. So I guess that would be another way to go. It could just move up as a par three. That would put a lot more pressure on people to go for it. I like the par four option better than the par three particularly if it puts the tunnel at the front.

    Hole 8 is what happens when a par 4 hole is too easy and the designers can't (or don't want to) change the layout for an event. I get it, pars are supposed to be the norm, but it's a bad hole if less than 5% of the field ends up birdieing it (I'm looking at you Nate Heinold and Northwoods 12...).

    Your content has been awesome, guys. My question: What is your favorite thing about each other, non-disc golf related?

    This course is literally in my back yard and I had no clue it was considered a “legit” course 😂

    2 things I dislike about any hole if they exist: 1. Blind shots where you can't see the pin on a par 3 or landing zones on a 4/5, and 2. Impossible par 3s where there isn't really a gap to hit at all and you just have to get lucky.

    Here’s a question. Do you guys adjust your forehand grips between drivers and putters? Do you adjust grip for approach shots at all? Thanks fellas

    I'll be in OR next week, going to MM at some point. What course is best for a 250-300' intermediate player?

    18:59 Brodie just walking up and making that forehand putt while talking is boss. Not as boss as Jack Nicklaus making long hilly putt on a whim, but pretty cool.

    Field work drills to get more distance? I have hit 442 once but I usually throw 380-400 for a consistent golf shot

    Hole 8 Comment. This hole highlights a significant difference between European disc golf and American disc golf: not all European par 3s are birdie-able. Some holes are designed to take strokes, not give. It just depends on where we want scratch golfers to score. In my opinion, a great professional course is designed where scratch golfers shoot Even. These types of par 3s (or 4s or 5s) help achieve that. Your feelings about Hole 8 aren't invalid, it's just about stroke play in the end.
