  • Time to empty the scrap bin. Some pieces may already be suitable for glue up and others will need to be milled flat. I cut stock to a uniform length of about 12". Some stock was ripped at a 30 degree angle. You're going to need plenty of glue and cauls to keep panels flat. I glued the segments and divider strips in one shot but the outside border was 2 glue ups.

Looks awesome! I've been looking for ideas to take care of scrap wood... This is one of the best so far! Think I may need some more clamps... HA!

Great reason to buy more clamps as you can never have too many.

Great job! Thank you for the video. Question, my scraps are all different widths, thickness, lengths. Do you spend time milling stuff down to lowest measurements before you start gluing? Your jig, do you screw the 4 sides together to hold it 8n one piece?

For my scraps I cut them to same or close to same length. Or sort by length and make different length long grain glue ups. I did a lot of milling and ripping to get them suitable for glue up. You're going to need to plain your panels flat so close to same thickness but not exact is fine. The jig is 2 layers of 3/4 ply screwed to melamine with 1/4" hex bolts and claw T-nuts on the inside edge. Not sure if that's the correct definition but the nuts dig into the wood to stay in place.

How short are your shortest scraps that you use? Do you use butt joints to glue short pieces together?
