This is exactly what I've been doing for a while, except that I just used my old Oral-B electric toothbrush. When i used up all the replacement heads, I went online and found a bulk pack of chinese knockoffs for dirt cheap. As for extra tips for the video, you can save even more money by simply using old toothbrushes and using old/worn blades for the multi-tool. Basically giving new purpose to items that would have ended up in the trash.
@@gr8dvd yeah, between having to cut up perfectly good toothbrushes and burn a perfectly good blade to glue them to, An old electric toothbrush is the winner for me. 🙂
They do make softer brush heads, as well as different size ones, and scrub pads for the drill. Personally, I bought a pressure steam machine (don't buy one of those cheap handheld ones, buy the pro grade McCullough-I have a MC1275) and it is amazing, you barely need chemicals even! But, this IS a good use for blades once the have bitten the dust and can no longer be resharpened. It makes me want to think of some other repurposing for them.
I clean my grout with a steamer and a brush, works great. Adding the oscillating tool will be a game changer. But you can probably make a brush large enough to cover the entire sanding pad surface area and do the whole shower tile in no time.
Wow, my friend I think you have something there, that is a very clever invention, you may want to refine it and patent it. I’ll be the first one to buy one!
I applaud your enthusiasm. If you purchase an electric toothbrush or a sonic toothbrush, you'll probably be a lot happier. The toothbrush heads are removable. Keep up the great work!
Most of those can be done with no scrubbing at all. Just put a paper tower over the area you want clean, put some white vinegar in a spray bottle, spray the paper tower, wait a bit (10-20 minutes) then wipe. Repeat if necessary. Add a bit of baking soda is you must.
Yes or CLR depending what kind of stain caused it. Toilet paper around toilet water line then spray soak with clr for easy mineral removal (w/o porcelain damage).
@@Hunter-vl6ft steam cleaners are wonderful tools, but just as you wouldn't use a Allen bit to turn a Phillips head fastener, steam cleaners won't do what brushes do. Agitation is one of the most effective cleaning methods. Incorporating it into a power tool many of us already own, with easily available, inexpensive materials, is definitely a win. I love my steam cleaner, but it's useless against grease, heavy grime, adhesive residue and corrosion. This is going to be an eminently useful addition to my oscillating tools.
Great for some things, but not nearly as effective, yet gentle, as a soft toothbrush. I'll definitely be using your idea on road cases with heavy, plasticized panels and steel hardware.
@@captbill I thought the same. I think it's worth to compare. The electric toothbrush is much more convenient to use if it's able to do a similar job. I have a few around here, I'll do some tests.
No. And yes. An electric toothbrush absolutely does the same thing, but the hack displayed here is more than a "Tim The Tool Man" gimmick. The power and speed of an oscillating tool is a magnitude higher than any electric toothbrush, allowing someone to get the job done better, faster, and more efficiently.
@@nixland save your recipsaw for a paint can shaker, saw it the other day on youtube, old hand squeeze clamp couple of screws and no more tennis elbow trying to get the stupid marbel to shake
Hey brother, just a thought, I'd take an angle grinder, or even a file. On the brush head. Take off those sharp corners of the oscillating multi tool blade! That way you don't have to worry about scratching or cutting into anything your cleaning!! Just a thought my friend, take it easy and until next time! Be safe!
Try cutting a slot with a Dremmel into the back of the brush head the width of the cutter blade and slide the brush head on so that it is rotated 90° to be in line with the cutter
You might not have to cut a slot at all. Use a torch to heat up the blade and jam it into the back of the brush head. Then add epoxy. I do wonder if it would break away too easily from whatever off-axis pressure you introduce to keep the brushes in contact with the surface to be cleaned. Worth a try.
Was searching for an assortment of blades with various wire brushes for cleaning auto parts but did not find any; can't be the only person who has such needs!
I found Ryobi drill brush attachments are quite soft in terms of hait strength. Almost that of the toothbrush. But then they cannot enter confined spaces and narrow edges. I think I should keep worn out multi tool blades for this purpose from now on 😅
Many those those blades out after a few uses and if you change tooth bushes often, you can use those. So with some planning you could do this for free.
I guess it can be used for something that need cleaning, I still think that good ole elbow grease would clean it quicker. On a lighter note, you can probably sell those toothbrush handles to some inmates as they will be able to turn them into shanks quite quickly.
You should try some Bar Keepers Friend or some Bon Ami even Ajax or Comet something with a little grit. Should clean much better then.Ever try super glue and baking soda as a glue? Its something most everyone has around and i would put it up against epoxy i think. That could be something to try on a video using your oscillating cleaner as a test glue one brush with epoxy and one with super glue and baking soda, they say that graphite and superglue is even stronger but i haven't tried that. Good Luck and thanks for you video!
True, but I think his point was to be as effective and non-abrasive as possible. There are plenty of brushes that can be about as abrasive as Barkeeper's Friend and I would definitely use your idea in certain situations.
I still don't understand why they haven't created a cleaning brush for a multi tool .. I'm on the hunt for one Drill brushes are fine but circular motions to clean things like trainers, football boots, boots etc is awkward and want the oscillating method for cleaning instead - easier!
Electric toothbrushes possess a magnitude less power, speed, and can't be scaled up for bigger tasks. But sure, you could certainly use them for small jobs.
Simple solution … just use an old sonic toothbrush … you can also buy cheap battery powered toothbrushes from the supermarket and they will do a similar job … much cheaper than using multi tool blades and glue … have a nice day Ya’all 😊
I'm sure you walk everywhere, have people perform puppet shows in your family room and churn your own butter. BTW, who posted this for you since modern convenience is so repulsive to you? 😉 I am, of course, pulling your leg, but why I hate on a useful time-saving tool that works better than a rag and cleaner?
You should try "Bar Keepers Friend". It is like Ajax cleaner, but it doesn't scratch. I use it on aluminum and stainless pot and pans and it doesn't scratch them. I but it in the cleaning supplies at my local grocery store. Works great for me.
hook and loop backed scotch bright pads on the sanding head cut to fit.
The irony of watching this while using my multi tool as a targeted massager. 😂 The hub of mine has a smooth head and is great for severe foot cramps.
@@spaci-1701 that's a great use, no doubt ♥️

Several great ideas, thank you
First thing I thought of was the Oral-B. This likely have more power but not sure you need much more. That toothbrush is pretty amazing
💯 tho my math a bit rusty, I ran the numbers and concluded free is better than cheap 😂

Awesome idea. You can make a polisher too. I would use a very old blade!!! One that is due to go in the bin.

been doing this for years, but for brushing my teeth in a jiffy.
Ever tried an old school steel wool brush?
I might try epoxy as the securing agent , this would be a one time solution till the brush wore out.

Try cutting a slot with a Dremmel into the back of the brush head the width of the cutter blade and slide the brush head on so that it is rotated 90° to be in line with the cutter

Why not just buy a rechargeable toothbrush 🪥 …
They work a little differently and I don't think they would be as aggressive of a cleaner
