Chicken stew of Bengal is completely different from the stew Shoaib explained. Bengals chicken stew is very light… non spicy…healthy…it’s our comfort food. We put some veggies in it….consistency is soupy. It can be made for the children and patients also.😊
In West Bengal Chicken Stew is Chicken with lots of vegetables such as green chillies, carrot, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, raw papaya, beans, etc. Cooked in butter and garlic and ginger paste with jeera powder, coriander powder, sugar and salt as per the taste. You can even give this Chicken stew to Ruhaan I guess he will love it. This recipe is very little and even tasty. In my home I even give it to my daughter, she is 2 years old. She loves to eat it. We cook in pressure cooker.

Just a question on what you guys all eat for “iftar”. I see the same things every single day, fruit, pappar, and fried starters? You have the same thing every single day for the whole month? Do you not get bored of this? Only asking because here in the uk we make different things for iftari only the fruit is what stays the same but even that we switch up by making a chaat, or cream chaat.

it is not mandatory to eat same thing for a whole month. Usually we eat fruits because we must eat healthy which gives us instant energy in iftar. Shoaib family's has tradition to have gulguley in iftar apart from this Indians eat some fried food in iftar like samosa, pakode, fryms etc. we dont add cream in fruits as we consume it as it is no additional flavours
It's family thing, especially during ramadan....i make diff snacks for iftari and ghee rice and chicken isttu, salad, curd etc for suhoor...my husband n his family prefer ghee rice as suhoor for entire month of ramadan... whereas my grandfather prefers samoosa for iftar almost every day in ramadaan, so it's depends on people's preferences....young generation like us always like to try new dishes but old generation prefers to stay with their old routine

chicken stew is basically no powdered masala, all whole spices like black pepper and it has whole red mirch as well and lots of onion and the color is not usually dark like the one you made its more towards a light colored gravy and very thick gravy its one of my favourites as well

Hi Dipika! This is Anuja from UK I watch your channel pretty regularly and I want to say God Bless your family ❤ I saw you wanted to know about chicken stew. So stews and casseroles are one pot dish. They are made in winters as they are so warming to heart and body when eaten on a cold winter night. So here’s the recipe for chicken stew and I hope you and your family enjoy it. 4 chicken breast pieces ( serves 4 depending on your appetite- 1 breast potion along with the liquid and veggies) 2 Tbsp oilive oil One table spoon butter 1 onion- chopped to cube size 2-3 cloves garlic- minced 2 tbsp paprika - this may be available in india - red chilli powder may become too spicy 1 tbsp plain flour 300 ml chicken stock Chopped parsley or spinach to garnish 1-2 stems of rosemary or thyme 2 red peppers - chopped to cube size 4 large ripe tomatoes or 1 can of tomato 250 ml cream Marinate chicken with salt Heat oil n butter in pan and sear or brown chicken all sides. Remove in another plate once done In same pan add onions, garlic and cook for 5/10 mins, add paprike, flour and mix well. Add stock and mix well. Add chicken - add little more stock if you feel its too thick. Boil, add red pepper, rosemary and tomato can. Cook for another 5 mins and cover and cook for 40 mins . Once its done add cream and garnish with spinach or parsley. Check salt and if need be add more. Tip-you can also add baby potatoes and carrots for extra veggies This stew is normally a semi liquid to liquid and can be eaten with bread. When you are serving serve like a soup in a soup or pasta bowl. (One chicken breast and veggies along with the liquid) If you add carrots and baby potatoes it will lift the dish to another level. I recommend you try. Carrots can be cut to the size of red peppers. And whole baby potatoes with skin- wash thrm well before hand. Stews dont have khada masslas so omit any to get an proper authentic stew taste - however for indian palate it may taste a little balnd/ different? In West Bengal Chicken Stew is Chicken with lots of vegetables such as green chillies, carrot, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, raw papaya, beans, etc. Cooked in butter and garlic and ginger paste with jeera powder, coriander powder, sugar and salt as per the taste.
You can even give this Chicken stew to Ruhaan I guess he will love it.
This recipe is very little and even tasty. In my home I even give it to my daughter, she is 2 years old. She loves to eat it. We cook in pressure cooker.

it is not mandatory to eat same thing for a whole month. Usually we eat fruits because we must eat healthy which gives us instant energy in iftar. Shoaib family's has tradition to have gulguley in iftar apart from this Indians eat some fried food in iftar like samosa, pakode, fryms etc. we dont add cream in fruits as we consume it as it is no additional flavours
It's family thing, especially during ramadan....i make diff snacks for iftari and ghee rice and chicken isttu, salad, curd etc for suhoor...my husband n his family prefer ghee rice as suhoor for entire month of ramadan... whereas my grandfather prefers samoosa for iftar almost every day in ramadaan, so it's depends on people's preferences....young generation like us always like to try new dishes but old generation prefers to stay with their old routine

I saw you wanted to know about chicken stew.
So stews and casseroles are one pot dish. They are made in winters as they are so warming to heart and body when eaten on a cold winter night.
So here’s the recipe for chicken stew and I hope you and your family enjoy it.
4 chicken breast pieces ( serves 4 depending on your appetite- 1 breast potion along with the liquid and veggies)
2 Tbsp oilive oil
One table spoon butter
1 onion- chopped to cube size
2-3 cloves garlic- minced
2 tbsp paprika - this may be available in india - red chilli powder may become too spicy
1 tbsp plain flour
300 ml chicken stock
Chopped parsley or spinach to garnish
1-2 stems of rosemary or thyme
2 red peppers - chopped to cube size
4 large ripe tomatoes or 1 can of tomato
250 ml cream
Marinate chicken with salt
Heat oil n butter in pan and sear or brown chicken all sides. Remove in another plate once done
In same pan add onions, garlic and cook for 5/10 mins, add paprike, flour and mix well. Add stock and mix well. Add chicken - add little more stock if you feel its too thick. Boil, add red pepper, rosemary and tomato can. Cook for another 5 mins and cover and cook for 40 mins .
Once its done add cream and garnish with spinach or parsley. Check salt and if need be add more.
Tip-you can also add baby potatoes and carrots for extra veggies
This stew is normally a semi liquid to liquid and can be eaten with bread.
When you are serving serve like a soup in a soup or pasta bowl. (One chicken breast and veggies along with the liquid) If you add carrots and baby potatoes it will lift the dish to another level. I recommend you try. Carrots can be cut to the size of red peppers. And whole baby potatoes with skin- wash thrm well before hand.
Stews dont have khada masslas so omit any to get an proper authentic stew taste - however for indian palate it may taste a little balnd/ different?

This is wat I knw abt stew bt wat shoaib explained was something dry gravy chicken type. As far as I have eaten chicken stew it is exactly wat u said. There is no such dry spicy gravy in chicken stew. Shoaib is mistaken somewhere with the name I guess
