    Thank you very much for your review of this Bible you did an excellent job very down to earth and easy to understand. I’m not a new Christian a matter fact I’m a very old Christian reading the NLT has found me spending much more time in the word. Once again thank you very much for your review.

    That topical concordance is really amazing. I could've used that many times if I had that on my Bibles over the years! And that technology...

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah! Honestly... On a "regular" bible I personally would much prefer one of these topical sections. I've never much used the small concordance... But I'll use this all the time.

    Loved that filament app! Such a great idea.

    Looks really good. What was not apparent from the review or from their website was if you need a constant internet connection or if the app on the phone can operate standalone. Just want to know if it will work when you don’t have cellphone coverage.... up a mountain for example. 😀

      I'm not sure on this one. I'll do some trial and let you know

    I am having trouble getting the filament app to work. It won't open. My QR Code app had to take me to Tyndale's website. Any suggestions?

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well...I’m not an “app” expert by any means. But id completely shut it down and delete it off your phone. Then reinstall it. See if that helps. Lemme know. Of that doesn’t work...we can hit up Tyndale.

    Thanks for the review. Is this the same material as the LASB? Life applications study bible.

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I unfortunately don't have the NLT LASB so I can't answer that with experiance. I apologize. Are you asking mainly about the paper? Or Binding/cover layout as a whole?

      It is not. Same content as Illustrated NLT study bible plus the devotionals!

    I prefer the sump;e look, too. One ribbon is not enough... I like at least two, and preferably three. One ud cheaping out.
    The app thing is a great feature...
    People with impaired vision do not consider a 10. something to be a large print. It looks fairly small to me. But, the layout in both Bibles is really nice. ‘Simple’ is best for readability. …and...it looks nice.

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you see the "giant print" edition I just reviewed recently. I actually prefer it out of the three. I don't have impaired vision but it's a great bible and very easy on the eyes. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!!! Soli Deo Gloria (and I agree on the ribbons...I always want more. lol)

    Does this have a “bible in a year” plan accessible through the app?

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for asking! I don't believe so as I haven't been able to find one. HOWEVER...I have asked one of the project manager's so I will get back to you when we get a chance to talk.

      Update for my contact in the filament editorial team. He told me he’s literally working in reading plans for the app right. One and they’ll hopefully roll out around February. 😍😍 so great question and we’ll have some soon.

    I've heard NLT is dumbed down for the unsophisticated and children, but that's not my experience after researching. On a lot of the controversial verses it chooses a fork in the road of interpretation or slight paraphrasing, but the analysis is literal and free of woke revision, and I agree with most of the "path finding" they choose. The argument of personal interpretation versus raw translation is a straw man, in a culture of study bibles purpose driven to establish and further entrenched narratives and commercially owned "translations". The NLT alternative materials seem the least abstract while also most comprehensive among graphs and charts (filament app by itself isn't incredible but the integrated effect is likely industry best). I feel like I got a couple rose publishing pamphlets in the back of my latest NLT. Add all that into their overtly marketed study bibles and you have a lot of integral narrative but it's solid Christian propaganda and instruction, the stuff usually attached to a costly tuition or private seminars.
    If Schuyler did the same with a name like Voddie Baucham doing the "steering", people would lose their minds with fanboy hype, Tyndale normal grade is trash though? Listen to their people talk in promotional videos, they're quite serious.

      I don’t know that I’d personally say “dumbed down” but there are a lot less words in it which makes it easier to read and understand. The filament enabled Bibles are awesome. Seriously…but I do have a bit of a problem with their partnership with The Bible Project. I think they get a few things kinda wrong. So I just figure stick with what I know to be accurate.

      @@ClaimingChristianity I prefer ESV but I also chase leads from any source, NLT reads smooth enough that it doesn't provoke me into going down the rabbit hole, I think that's a feature. I just wanted a second choice for cross reference but it's about ESV 60/40 NLT now. Reading on the move, from a compact bible, no electronics to read multiple sources of apocrypha with each chapter, NLT is fine (or catch up on that later with your notes and that app?). Also NLT seems to keep the old testament poetic verses from going haywire regarding them connecting homonyms/phenomena instead of phonetic rhyming in the Hebrew style, most don't.

      @@ClaimingChristianity what's the deal with the bible project? Until very recently I just read without any real scholastic focus, now that I have a toddler I'm trying to archive instructional materials before it's suppressed by the woke culture (marriage act and IRS shenanigans will affect religious organizations and publishers enough to cripple many future updates of bibles and homeschooling materials).

      There are just some theological issues that they seem to teach that I don’t agree with. The idea is great. I really was liking the way they would walk you through a whole book with pictures…but some of the stuff they mentioned was a little off…so it caused a trust issue.
