Soviet experimental flamethrower based on the promising Uralvagonzavod chassis. The project began to be developed at the Leningrad VNII-100 in 1956, but at the same time, the requirements for the flamethrowing range for vehicles that did not have artillery weapons increased - the effective destruction distance was more than 250 meters. The project could no longer meet the new requirements and was curtailed in favor of more promising machines.

Interesting. It takes the place of arty since it's an SPG. Has heavy armor and speed to get in close. It lobs it's 'shell' like an SPG. And it's damage is comparable to that of an SPG. I wonder if it will cause debuffs when it's firing on something like an SPG

Hopefully EU servers don't introduce this. Flamethrower tanks are only on the Russian version currently I hope it stays that way especially since the EU and NA version is a separate entity now

@@anthonyharveeconciliado1236 not every battle field has air support available and coaxial mgs can't be lobbed over trenches or scorch entrenchments/pillboxes
It wasn't a mass production vehicle for a reason but flamethrower tanks outside this do exist and served a limited but practical purpose
Also napalm fires are extremely sticky and won't be put out easily, I don't know enough about this machine to know if it was a naplam flamethrower but guessing from the era it's possible
@@f45411 Ok. But don't MBT's themselves have their main armament to use against infantry? And even if we'd use the flamethrower, the range is very limited like 250m unlike using a gun from an MBT which can deliver a blow to the target from miles away. And I heard that in the latest M1 Abrams, a commander can shoot the 50. Cal remotely from the inside of the tank.
