Well if Lucas McCain (the Rifleman) can use a semiautomatic weapon in 1880s New Mexico ; Shotgun Slade can have a jazzy tune. Take it with a grain of salt.
@@davidbennett6912 It was a fictional TV show. The show glorified violence to settle disputes. Almost all gunslingers bushwhacked an opponent or shot them in the chest or belly. It was a painful, agonizing death.
Hey this must be a Season 2 episode....it must have had the Revue (studios) "animated filmstrips" tag at the end (not seen here). Any other Season 2 eps of S.S. here on TH-cam? And, yup, the jazz music is definitely *different* for a western!
I can understand some young upstart production designer wanting to break the background music mold for westerns but I don't think he/she could have made a worse choice. Something just non-descript or minimalistic would have worked infinitely better. I kept expecting the characters to hop in a '58 Corvette and zip off into the sunset.
Good old time western
Ruta lee still with us and still with it
Pretty jazzy music for a western
Funny.
I remember my grandma watching this she passed
I didn't know that there was 78 episodes of this show over two seasons
This is a western detective TV show like the Pinkerton Detectives show but with better music.

No way can I watch a western with jazz music it's just so wrong!
Funny.

I was thinking the same thing about the music. as a kid I loved this show but I never could understand why or who picked out the music. God awful
Harry Potter ?! 😂😂😂😂
You noticed too! (At about 8:44.)
With this music you'd think you're about to watch Burke's Law or Route 66.
Funny.

It wasn't a semi automatic, it was a lever action.
@@JamesSmith-pc6bh I know, I read the Rifleman's website. You can tell I don't belong to the NRA. My knowledge of firearms is very poor.
Something about that jazz behind a western! Wonder when they figure this doesn't work...
Funny.

This was an attempt to blend westerns and private eye shows and it didn't work.
