Keep up the good work. Not many people have what it takes anymore, to live our simple but perfect country life.

Thank you! I like that showed everything, not just a summary of what you did. I learn so much more when folks actually show what they did. Great job!

Just found your channel. This is exactly what we want to do when we get our pigs. Unfortunately we don’t have a lot of shade available so we’ll have to build something for shade as well. Now to check out your other videos. New subscriber in me.

Why two posts at the corners?

  • @christianb1176

I'm building one quite similar right now. I opted for a simpler tube gate because I'm suspicious of the pigs breaking the welds on the welded wire gates (which I've heard goats will do quite often). I'm thinking of cutting a piece of hog panel to place on the inside of the tube gate so they can't slip through. And, I personally opted for hog panels (36" tall) vs the handy/cattle panels (48" tall) because I'm thinking I can fall over and out of the shorter panels in case I need to get out of the pig pen in a hurry. Maybe I'm paranoid, but that's my thinking. Good job though! I'm also curious if 8 foot spacing on the Tposts is good, or if you think going shorter is advised.

Never seen the bucket method for putting in t post. I will say it’s better to put them in as far as you can because the pig will pull them up if they can get to the panels.

Where did you all get that gate bracket to hand your gate?

    • @rockyhollowhomestead5827
      @rockyhollowhomestead5827  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Tractor supply has them or Amazon. Try searching for something like a t post gate bracket

Just found this and it's extremely helpful. On the corners, you just use one post? And put the clips in different positions? I have to extend my son's practice corral for his show pig and I'm watching how you've done yours

Just make sure it is all braced very well but in our experience, as long as there was food and water, we had no issues. They do root a bit but that is natural.

Nice pen. Not I would definitely run another chain on the bottom of that gate! Love the idea of the upside down bedliner. Where do u get that gate at?

This works for me. You and Courtney did a fine job. I need to do the exact same thing. Hope it works well for Callie's pig. Is there only going to be 1 pig in there? I need a pen for 3 small kune kune pigs. Thanks for sharing. New Subscriber!! 👍🏽🙂

No homestead under the 1862 Homestead Act set fence post with a front end loader like me they set them by hand the name of your channel is nothing but click bait, why not call it what it is " Rocky Hollow TH-cam Funded Hobby Farm". Bet you have not even read the Homesteading Act of 1862. that is what defines homesteading.

      1. Work land
      2. Improvements land
      3. Build home
      4. Live there for 5 years
That's not really that intensive and most people found loop holes all over the place. I don't think the government can really tell us what homesteading is.

New subscriber here, great video, thank you! This is just the kind of instruction I’m looking for. Question: if I was going to start with three pigs and panels are 16 feet long, would a 12 panel square be big enough?
