If u want a proper bike that is safe and predictable, the suspension has to be a top priority. The YSS shock is great. For the front, I would suggest going with Racetech. They offer 5 different rates for their 2nd spring (u buy only one, still keep the factory spring). With a proper spring rate for your weight, the dampening should be change. Racetech Gold Valve with customized shim stack is the way to go. It looks like your front is too stiff now. This was the case when I only did the YSS spring. My front end now is great. The Racetech fork spring/gold valve is about $350.

I'm still trying to save enough to buy my 1st dual sport & this little bike is one that I like a lot. The Rally version seems to
be a good bike & there's 2 areas that I'd put 1st on MOD's for her; Tires -n- Suspension ! After the stock tires have met
their burden I'd be putting proper tires for my intended use of the bike(road/dirt) & the very next MOD I see as important
is the suspension. I'm glad you are covering this & handling is the most important thing you can do for safe riding.
After the handling mods are done, then the others can be considered, in my non-expert opinion. Great video.

You are 6ft and you can’t flat foot with the suspension mod , so how can anyone recommend it for a 5ft 8 or smaller rider ?
That’s 4 inches shorter than your height , I wouldn’t be able to get anything more than my big toe down😊
Wonder if there’s a way to do the suspension springs and then lower the bike via links?

I'm 5'8" and weigh 185lbs. I'm going to do the YSS shock and a K-Tech fork spring. Most of my parts are in and I'm just waiting on the rest to start the build series. As of right now with just the stock suspension, I can have the balls of my feet on the ground. I have a Seat Concepts seat in Low Comfort on order. It should bring me down about 1". I'll determine after I install everything if I need to do a lowering link but from what I've heard, it's doable. YSS makes a 415mm and 405mm shock so you could consider getting the 405mm to lower it a little bit and get the better suspension with it as well. If it's still too high, you could do the Seat Concepts thing and get you lower.

Rally Raid makes a Level 1 suspension upgrade for both front and rear. This will keep the bike at its OEM ride height. I have them on mine, I'm 6ft but I wanted to keep the same ride height. I can flat foot with plenty of room, you should look into them. 👍

Ktech makes a short version shock so you don’t have to use a lowering link. Yes, you can lower the front too. You have to to make it geometrically correct. I’m 210lbs with 30” inseam . With the upgraded suspension, low version, my feet are in the same exact spot as they were when it was stock.

Most websites have all the information you need. I went with Ktech and their customer service helped me throughout the process.

Rode this bike 3500kms in three months on stock suspension , yes you have to slow down on dirt , but it handles bitumen well, the critical things… you can lift this bike up if you drop it , and it is ultra reliable .

Good for them. They obviously wanted a heavier ADV bike and not a dual sport.
