This leaf photo is sublime, capturing nature in all its wonderful tones.Your right Henry best we open our eyes wide and see what’s really there for us as photographers 👍
Henry, mate I’ve watched every TH-cam video of yours but you have just stepped up the mark, really great video, so impressed with your presentation, it just flowed and fell into place, no rave ons just a great video, 10 points my friend, please keep up that style of presentation . All your followers must also be impressed. Regards Allan B.
Henry, I have been watching you for about 2 years. I found your channel shortly after I started one, myself. I was so taken in with what you were doing because it was similar to my idea - to take people along with me as I find inspiration for my pastel paintings. You have done so well. I often watch and wonder just how the mindset of a photographer differs from that of a painter. Every now and then you remark that your photo looks like a painting, and painters are often trying to get their paintings to look photographic. When you are sizing up the landscape, and talking about what you are looking for, I can relate. Sometimes, I marvel at your ability to just focus on one or two images. I tend to see too much at times, and can come home with far too many shots. In this video, you seemed to be trying to look for more images. I also am noticing something new in your videos. It seems that you are making the video, itself, a work of art. With your drone shots, and maybe more close ups and other cinematic elements, you are creating some very beautiful video moments. I wish that I could have a chat with you someday, to just compare notes between a photographer and a pastel artist. I appreciate what you do, and I know full well how much time you put into each video, since I do that, too. I have not been a prolific as you, however. It amazes me that you can create one a week. You are working so very hard. Oh, one more thing…I do so appreciate that I never have to be shocked by your language. Your language is so gentle and not crude - no foul language. That is rare these days, but I really think it makes for a super comfortable and enjoyable experience. Thank you for all you do! Debbie
Hi Henry, at last you have remembered to turn left at Dumfries, most visitors to Scotland don't. I was fortunate before I retired I used to work in Scotland for six weeks every year, two of them in Dumfries, my work took me from Dumfries all the way to the coast, unfortunately in my pre-digital photography days.
Brilliant location Henry, it’s all about looking at the smaller picture as well as the big one! Loved the Robin and the oak leaf. Overall a wonderful video again thanks mate!!👍👍👍
Goes somewhere epic and photographs a pile of leaves 😂 this is exactly something I’ve done. My husband thinks I’m insane when I do that. But you’re right sometimes you just need a few images to get out of your own head and be present in the new place. Really enjoyed this!
Glad you got to Galloway, definitely one of the under-appreciated areas of Scotland. And there is such variety, not only in the landscape but also seascapes and quaint villages, ancient castles and monuments. I go down there at least once every year.
Love the intimate scenes you photographed. It can be so hard sometimes to forget about the big vistas and concentrate on the smaller things in the landscape. And they make for such interesting subjects! But talking about big vistas, that waterfall image at 19:45 is just stunning, and so is the pano!! The heart shaped lake is so interesting! It really is the perfect heart shape. Nature is wonderful!
I was SO amazed at the landscape in Dumfries and Galloway when I went there... its SO overlooked, but perfect because of that, its never as over populated by tourists for us photographers - gosh I could give you a list of places there to stop off at! Worth you getting a list for yourself so you can make regular stops at places on your way home from the north, or if you fancy a drive just up a bit from the lakes... and thank you for the sheep! I'm gonna look out for them on every video just for the ongoing chuckle I get from those...😂
Good on you for not giving up on the day. You are a master of inspiration. I just got the Z 24-200, and it has been a challenge for me in being consistent, but I’m not going to quit on it. I’m going to get out in the desert hills, relax, and take photos where I have never gone before.
The drone shot is beautiful. I’ve been considering purchasing a drone for some time now. The shot you took Henry looking over the hills of the lock as made my mind up to make that purchase.I love how you use your drone in your video presentations too all of us 👍
Another cracking film Henry. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures with us. Absolutely belting images; my favourite has to the the waterfall at 19.30. Just love the milky water with the lovely mountainous background. Wonderful.
my homeland!! Spent all my younger years in Dumfries and Galloway - I hope you are heading across to the Mull of Galloway too! Van looks MINT. Images just gorgeous.
nice one. being disabled and rather unsteady on my feet means I quite often see those low-down detailed cameos that I used to miss when hiking to some majestic scene. It's actually fast becoming my favourite kind of photography.
There was a great shot just after you left the first Loch and before you reach the first river - of holly and berries great for a Christmas card. Impressive shots from up the hill Henry. No wonder you were nackered when you got back. I look forward to your next vid.
What a plus to be able to hang about because you have that nice camper van. Anyway, you came away with some nice images. But I really responded to your remarks concerning writing off a location for it's photographic potential without really taking some time to take it all in. Such a good reminder for me. Thanks. Fine video, Henry. Cheers!
Great intro to the video Henry and was nice to see a bit of D&G, as it’s often overlooked compared to the highlands. Really liked your selection of images today and really captured the essence of your day
A TV producer needs to spot you. A photography series would be so nice to watch and you’d make such a great presenter. I love that small waterfall in the foreground picture. It’s nice too that you can spot the more intimate shots. As you say, there’s always something to photograph.
You're actually right, he appears very natural and authentic. However on TV you get annoying over producing and exaggerated emotions to enforce drama. I seldom see TV, but it's right in my face when I see some TV content online.
Visiting this beautiful place for the 2nd time just last Autumn, as soon as you said you were going on a 'short/medium' hike up to the loughs I had a chuckle. I made that same mistake and ended up trudging through bog and overgrown tick infested bracken for hours! But the area and it's wild vistas are worth it! Can't wait to get back out there, loved the video and being able to reminisce on the incredible area.
Another great video. Love Dumfries and Galloway, hills, forest and a great coast too (especially round the Mull). Do wish you’d show a little enthusiasm now and again though. Haha. Is there nothing you can’t get excited about?
Thanks Henry for sharing your adventure in great locations.... the hills look magnificent with tranquil lakes & woodland....yes looking deeper certainly helps to really see more than initially thought.... great results... cheers from Australia 😀
Henry, wow another great adventure. Beautiful shots. We all need to look around and realize the multiple of shots all around us waiting to be discovered.😊
Hi Henry, another grand day out and thanks for sharing... You looked pretty goosed at the end of that one mate, but the photos were well worth the effort. Looking forward to next week's video already!
Great opening overhead drone video and loved the oak leaf shot! Whenever you drop a photo it is a good day as your enthusiastic spirit is contagious! Was going to ask what you think of your new boots. Are they turning out to be a worthy investment? Cheers!
You certainly made a great day out of that trip Henry. That panorama was great and the cascading water around 19 mins in was stunning with the background you got in. Really appreciate the work you must have to put in to get the finished video. Agree with an earlier comment, you should have your own mini TV series, your presentation is in my opinion spot on ( not too dissimilar to that guy who goes around on his canal barge on tv).
Ooohh I get awfully excited when I see that you have ventured up here! Really pleased to see that you are taking advantage of the lesser well trodden areas of this beautiful country, I don't know if you have the time to watch any other you tubers but I can highly recommend Simon Booth if you want inspiration and intimate shots - I don't know how he sees the stunning photos that he gets. Really loved the photos from this adventure (the robin on your tripod!) and look forward to more next week. take care
I had the pleasure of visiting Dumfries & Galloway in 2021, what a beautiful place! Back then I was absolutely brand new to photography, and didn’t have too much of a clue about what I was doing, so certainly didn’t manage to take advantage of the opportunities that presented themselves. It’s a place I can’t wait to visit again. I wonder if your next stop is at Loch Doon 🤔😁 that was our absolute ‘corny’ stop - we went to Loch Doon after lock down. A great vlog again Henry, one that makes you stop and think about the ‘there’s no shot here’ mentality which I’ve definitely been guilty of for sure. Looking forward to the next instalment.
One of my favorite locations to shoot (I'll not name it) stoating stuff sir! There is a lovely big boulder that lies in the Loch at the other end from where you were. Also one or two good locations in the local area one of which is meant to be a roman bridge, probably a pack horse bridge though. Oh kudos for always pronouncing Loch properly.
Another great video, your one of the few channels that keep the interest to the end of the video. Lovely photography and full of tips. On a slightly different subject what is the app you use showing the sunset line and identifying the peaks.
Henry, which lens did you have on for that oak leaf at 8:20 (plus-minus)? I don't think you said. Am curious though. Really nice image. Thanks, as always.
@@HenryTurnerphoto Okay. I thought that is what you had on, but was not sure. Thank you so very much for answering my question. I'm still watching actually. About 2/3 of the way through. Lovin' it.
@@HenryTurnerphoto That small Brass animal ? like in your van above near roof looking from inside at 24:07 onwards on video it's actually behind front of cab on the plywood . If it's not an animal ?
Another fantastic video!! What did you do differently with your camera that you use for video? Did you change the frame rate or image quality? I mean 30fps to 60fps or from 1080 to 4K? It has a different look, but the landscape is simply amazing!!
Nice to see you visit this often ignored corner of Scotland. There are some beautiful hidden wee spots. I moved to Dumfries from Argyll over a decade ago and love it here.
Henry, you found the “Valentine’s shot”…. At the “heart lake” of course….Congratulations!
This leaf photo is sublime, capturing nature in all its wonderful tones.Your right Henry best we open our eyes wide and see what’s really there for us as photographers 👍
The river photo you’ve totally captured the beauty of the water and brought it to life for the viewer excellent 👍
The dramatic voiceover and cinematic reveal has me riveted and I’m just one minute in.
Haha thanks mate!!
Henry, mate I’ve watched every TH-cam video of yours but you have just stepped up the mark, really great video, so impressed with your presentation, it just flowed and fell into place, no rave ons just a great video, 10 points my friend, please keep up that style of presentation . Nice, thanks for sharing this beautiful piece of Scotland. Cheers from the Netherlands, Bart

Thanks Sarah!!
The pano you took is simply brilliant 👍

Welcome to my part of the country. 👍
Fantastic info, great locations. Will definitely head out to a number of the sites in this vid when I visit Scotland this year.
What a beautiful and amazing to start the video. I got drawn in right away and I loved it
Thank you so much 😀
Beautiful images! Always watch your videos and love them. You are honest, funny, creative and inspiring.
