Steam cleaner with the flexible tip works fast and incredibly fast. Also two part foam from a construction supply store works awesome for repairs and filling in areas while being flexible with high strenth.

The repair videos are much appreciated im just getting into rc planes and maiden flight crushed the nose on my bixler 3 so the foam repair with hot glue is the ticket

One thing you never tried was weighing down your control arms on the end of them. Making their response time quicker would definitely help at higher speed.....

With that kind of damage,I think it's best to just get a replacement wing assembly and swap your servos and wiring over to the new wing.

Man that P-47 took a beating. Thanks for covering this topic. Does hot glue work really well for foam, I've never seen that before, Also I'm glad Elon bought Twitter.

Steam cleaner with flexable nozzle works awesome and fast yet precise. 2 part construction foam, works awesome, fast, sandable, strong, flexible, and way more product for price. It's low expanding also, 1 to 2 or real close expansion.

You shouldn’t use hot glue you should use foam adhesive and then cover the crack with a foam finish you won’t even know it broke

I really like using gorilla foam expanding glue on foam planes. It absolutely fills every crook and cranny. Just tape over the areas you don't want the glue to expand past. Then for popping back out impact wrinkles I boil water and pour it over the area wrinkled slowly and massage the area with my hands. I swear if your time and keep pouring and messaging you will be left with no krinkle just a little popcorning no worse than what you have with the heat gun or hot iron. Just another way. Good that your helping people that has never tried to fix there planes.

Use a steam cleaner with the flexible nozzle, I got a brand new one on sale for $15, it is precise and takes seconds to work unbelievably well. Also I use a two part foam for repairs. It's easier to work with and works fast compared to gorilla glue which takes forever to dry and can overexpand while also being less flexible. Gorilla glue works well, but it's pricey compared to two part foam, I get two parts that are 12oz each and it can be mixed as you use it to prevent waste. Your local HD Supply, or whoever is around for construction fastners and hardware will carry the two part polyethylene expanding foam. It's not the high expanding stuff, it's actually a type of glue that is high strength with I think 1 to 2 expansion rate while being flexible and sandable with less pores to fill in and sand.

I'm not a fan of hot glue. I prefer FoamTac, or the equivalent, and Gorilla glue. For the record, white Gorilla glue will foam; clear will not. I never use the brown stuff. Gorilla glue sets up in about an hour. While the foam (from white Gorilla glue) has "no strength" for woodworking applications, it is just as strong as the original foam on a plane. Also, foam-safe CA is good for wicking down into cracks where it is impossible to get hot glue.

Why did it crash? I have one as well as the 1.2M P51. both have had servo failure. The P47 looked about like yours due to elevator and rudder servo failure. The P51 maiden flight had a aileron servo failure and kept turning. I was able to crab it by using the rudder until it hit the ground flat. Not as much damage but, I recommend changing Eflite servos out for metal gear servos. What are your thoughts? Great video BTW.

Hi ! Great video !! What kind of paint do you use ? It is a spray paint ? Because it could melt the foam. And acrilic paint wold be too heavy. I have to paint a foam wing and don't know what paint will be the best. Many thanks and keep uploading !!!
